One day, a hurricane crashed upon a place in my heart
The same place that housed the soul
The little creature was left stranded on wrecked streets
She thought, maybe there'll be fire brigades to help me
But the only sirens she heard was from the scream in her throat
You heard me somehow, when my voice was lost,
You took me in and wrapped me in bandages and your stance
You let my leftover rain
Wash the remnants of the previous accident
And then checked upon me until I could fully sing and dance
My mother always told me that the soul is a canvas
So I loved to dip it in blues
But when you told me you like sunsets,
I started to paint myself orange
And then you shouted and said I love the blue sky too
There was a hanging bridge in front and behind and the two sides
I was frightened to step onto a start
Then you came along, with hands outstretched
Not to carry me, but to hold the bridge
Until I walked all steady and all through the path
I told you you're my hero, you're my everything
And I'm in a kingdom where you're the king
I'll live for you until the very end
But you smiled and whispered and nodded,
Say all of that for yourself
We're now in our living room, resting on a foundation of stone
You lean in and whisper,
I'll be your fallout shelter,
But you need to be your own home.
I smile, you smile and then you kiss me in a flash,
And honey, I cry this time, you've built me so firm
That I'll perfectly survive the next hurricane crash.
