Evan and Jared were walking hand in hand downtown. They passed a woman with a dog and a baby. Both Evan and Jared looked longingly at them, but neither said anything.

To be honest, Evan had been wanting a child for quite some time. He really wanted to ask Jared about it, but he was scared that Jared didn't want any children.

He could've just brought it up casually, but we all know Evan and his anxious little self.

For months Evan was nervously hiding his desperate want for children. He had gotten so desperate that every time he saw someone with a child, he nearly cried.

Now Jared is not oblivious so of course he noticed the difference in attitude whenever they passed some cute family. Jared was really concerned for his husband. So of course he approached him about it one day.

Evan was biting his lip and fiddling with his fingers. He was planning on asking Jared today. He was planning it out in his head, all of the worst possibilities flowing through his mind. He was starting to go into a panic until-

Jared came up and hugged Evan from behind. Evan gave a little squeak of surprise but immediately calmed down from his previous state of panic. Jared stood on his toes to place his head in the crook of his lover's neck.

"What's on your mind. I can tell something's up. Every time you see a family pass by, you seem to panic and you seem really sad. Did something happen?"
Jared asked with a soft voice, overflowing with concern.

Evan felt tears form at the corners of his eyes.

Jared's toes were getting tired so he lead Evan to the couch. They sat down and Jared held his lover's hands. Jared noticed the tears that were in his eyes. Evan then spilled it all at once. From him wanting kids to his worries about Jared possibly not wanting any.

He was now crying into Jared's shoulder and Jared was doing his best to calm his spouse down. He got Evan calm and looked him gay in the eyes.

"You should've told me. I want kids too. Trust me. Don't worry so much about talking to me. You can tell me anything, anytime. I'll always be here for you"
Jared said while caressing Evan's face with his thumb.

"I love you"
Evan said, satisfied.

"I love you too. So much."

Evan and Jared were standing there waiting for the woman to come back. Evan had his arm draped around Jared's shoulders.

When the woman came back with the two year old child holding her hand. Tears immediately came flowing out of both men's eyes as they saw their new child. Their little girl, Maeve. She shyly hid behind the woman's leg.

"It's okay sweety. Your new daddies are right there!"

The little girl cautiously walked over to the married couple.

"Hi there"
Jared said crouching to her height and reaching his hand out to her.
"I'm..." he hesitated "Dad"

She walked closer and put her hand on his hand. He started crying again and Evan decided to speak up.

"Um... uh- hi I'm P-pop"
The dark skinned girl looked at Evan and smiled a smile that could melt every heart in the world.

The two new fathers shared a glance. They then opened their arms wide. The young girl ran into their arms.

They stayed like that for a while, and they knew everything was going to be okay.
