Jared and Evan had been dating for five years now. They were already out of college and they were on a date to celebrate their five years of dating anniversary.

They were at The Green Turtle. A restaurant near their apartment. They were sitting down waiting for their food, for they had already ordered. Their waiter came back with their food, his long, curly hair bouncing in a ponytail as he walked with a smile plastered on his freckled face. (They're at the green turtle I had to make Laurens their waiter)

They got their food and ate it. Because that's what people usually do with food. Usually.

Evan and Jared both got refills for their drinks, Sprite and Pepsi.

They decided to see who could finish their drink first.

GO!

Evan sipped his drink at lightning speed and won. Jared finished shortly after and looked at his boyfriend, stunned. Jared punched his shoulder lightly.

"I bet you cheated you cheater"
He joked.

Evan inhaled offendedly and put his hand over his heart
"Moi? A cheater? I'm deeply hurt."
Then he giggled his adorable Evan giggle.

Jared watched him giggle and then his eyes widened.
I wanna marry this man.

It was two weeks since their five years of dating anniversary. Evan was getting nervous and slightly angry. Jared was leaving a lot recently. He never told Evan what it was, or he'd make up some obvious excuse.

Evan was worried that he was cheating.

Jared was not cheating. He was planning the proposal.

He really wanted it to be a surprise. He wanted to make it so great so it will show Evan how important and special he is to Jared. Jared had been spending a lot of time away from Evan and he felt bad about it, but he knew it would all be worth it in the end.

"Seriously?!?! Don't tell me you're going out again! If you love me stay with me. At least tell me the truth of where you're going."
Evan placed his hands on his hips.

"I'm so sorry Evan. I have to do this. I can't tell you what I'm doing. Just understand that it's not anything bad. Nothing bad can come from this just trust me please."
Jared begged.

Evan rolled his eyes and scoffed.
"Fine, whatever. Go."

Jared gave him a sad look and left to meet up with Alana, Zoe, a friend he knew and his friend's husband. They were helping him set up everything. It had been two and a half weeks and he knew he had to get it done soon so he could be with Evan forever. He hated seeing Evan feel so betrayed and mad.

Him and the crew were at the Murphy-Beck household. They were making reservations.

After they did that Jared called out,
"Micheal, grab Jeremy and let's get the ring!"

"Okay Gayred!"
Micheal called back. He got Jeremy and they drove off in his pt cruiser to Kay. Because as y'all know, every kiss begins with Kay.

After looking for two hours looking, Micheal picked another red one.
"Hey this one is pretty!"

"No no. Not good enough..."
Jared kept searching.

"Oh cmon Jay, we've been looking for houuuuurrrrsss! How picky could you be"
Micheal whined while leaning his head into Jeremy's shoulder. His husband patted his head in reassurance.

"Well he's already mad enough at me as it is! What if he hates it and then he hates me and then he leaves me forever and never talks to me again and I'll die alone."
Jared said, panicking.

"Calm. The fuck. Down. Dude,"
Jeremy put a hand on Jared's shoulder.

Jared took deep breaths and spun around. His eyes widened and his breath caught in his throat.

"Holy shit. It's... perfect!"
Jared closely inspected the ring. It was silver with sky blue on the edge and inside.

(That, but a lighter blue.)

Jared bought it and went back to Zoe and Alana's place. The preparations were all ready and everyone was excited.

Jared drove home sanic fast. He had the biggest smile on and was so relieved to finally be finished. He just hoped Evan would say yes.

Evan was reading on the couch and the tv was on, showing 'tiny house living'. Jared walked in with the large grin still on his face. Evan put his book down and pulled out his phone. He pressed something on it. He got up and walked over to Jared, no emotion shown in his face. He shoved the phone in his face and Jared saw what it was.

04:07:41.02
"Four hours, seven minutes, and forty-one point two seconds. That's how long you were gone. THE HELL WERE YOU DOING?!?!"
Evan got emotional.

Jared looked down.
"Just trust me. Please. Wait for it. Please."
He walked away.

Evan felt bad for yelling, but still didn't understand. How was he supposed to just wait for whatever the hell he was doing.

Evan realized how unreasonable he was being. Jared was probably just planning a surprise. But why couldn't he just tell him that it was a surprise instead of lying right to Evan's face like that.

Evan decided to forgive him inside but Jared doesn't know that.

A day later Jared woke up to see Evan baking pancakes. Jared came up behind him and grabbed his shoulders. Evan jumped and squeaked. They both shared a laugh and a smile.

"Hey let's go out tonight! I reserved a table at a mystery restaurant!"
Jared excitedly said.

Evan looked at him and embraced the smoller man.
"Of course"
They shared a quick kiss and Evan went back to making pancakes.

At 7:45 pm they arrived at Firebirds. A nice restaurant. They went Evan smiled wide and leaned down to kiss his boyfriend's cheek. They walked to the hostess stand.

"Reservation for Jared at 7:45."
Jared told the hostess. She grabbed two menus.
"Right this way sirs"

She lead them to a table and the couple had a nice conversation once they got themselves situated.

They had the first nice night out for the first time since their five years of dating anniversary.

After they payed they left. It was dark outside. Jared grabbed Evan's hand. They went to a special spot downtown right my a street musician. He had dark brown hair, a white hoodie and he looked Filipino. He had a ukulele.

There were fairy lights surrounding the area where they were. Jared gave the musician a look. He came over to where the happy couple stood. He started strumming a familiar tune. Jared put his hand on Evan's shoulder and Evan's was on his waist. Their other hands met halfway. They started slow dancing to the song as Mell's angelic voice filled the air. (Admit it. George Salazar has the voice of an angel)

Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you.

Shall I stay? Would it be a sin, if I can't help falling in love with you.

A small crowd started forming around the two, but they didn't notice. All they knew was each other. And that was all that mattered.

Like a river flows surely to the sea darling so it goes, some things were meant to be.

Take my hand. Take my whole life too, 'cause I can't help falling in love with you.

Some members of the crowd were video taping it. Some were crying or tearing up. As was Evan. He felt his eyes gloss over and tears form in the corners of his eyes.

Like a river flows surely to the sea darling so it goes, some things were meant to be.

Take my hand. Take my whole life too, 'cause I can't help falling in love with you.

'Cause I can't help falling in love with you~

Micheal finished the song with a calm stroke. A tear ran down his face as he remembered how he proposed to Jerbear.

The boyfriends kissed until Jared ended it. He then got on one knee and put Evan's hands in his own. He spoke softly.

"Dear Evan Hansen, you are the most precious, most beautiful human being I've ever laid my eyes on, and ever will lay my eyes on. You're the reason I get up in the morning and the reason I have pleasant dreams at night. You're my world. My everything. I don't even know what I'd do without you in my life. I love the relationship we have, but I know that I want to spend the rest of my life and even longer with you. So do you think you might want to become my husband?"

Jared pulled out the sky blue ring that was practically burning a hole in his pocket. Both men were crying. Evan was speechless.

So he kissed him. He pulled away and gave a smile that could outshine every star in every universe.

"Yes yes yes yes yes yes YES YES YES A MILLION TIMES YES!!!"
Evan squealed. They kissed again and hugged.

Jared put the ring on him and Evan marveled at how pretty it was.

The crowd awed. They noticed the crowd for the first time. They laughed and smiled for the cameras. Evan was surprisingly calm about so many strangers surrounding them.

He felt like as long as he had Jared there, he could face any crowd. Big or small.

That was the happiest Evan had ever felt and he made sure Jared knew that.

Jared knew it would be worth the wait.
