It looked down and locked its two gray eyes with mine.

My breath quickened. And Ink was screeching in the background.

What is that- WHAT IS THAT-????

I couldn't move. The figure looked like a person, but it wasn't at the same time. Thick black liquid dripped down from their face, hands, shoulders...well, everywhere.

Meme wouldn't create this as a mob would he?

Meme was in control of making the SMP, so it meant all the mobs he added were also his responsibility.

Sssssssssssqqqqqueeeeeeeeeeak

The creature slid on the side of the window and made that disturbing sound again as it moved closer to me.

Come on come on, why can't I move?!

Frustrated that my legs aren't working in the way I wanted them to.

I need a weapon, if I don't do anything, I'm going to die.

The creature sluggishly stood back and started hitting itself against the window.

Thump.

Thump.

THUMP.

That got me moving. I managed to get up and went to the back of the medbay and looked through the chests and cabinets.
The closest weapon that I found was a surgery scissor, so I took it and held it out like a sword.
I wasn't the best at fighting but I think this will at least protect me from whatever that thing was.

SPLAT SQQqquuueellllchhh

I looked at the window and put on my best 'brave' face... which was me just being extremely terrified for some reason!

Ha!
...

Soon the creature stopped hitting itself against the window and darted its eyes around the place. Few minutes later, they slowly turned their head towards the medbay door.

Oh no, please don't.

I ducked under one of the medbay beds and blocked my ears to avoid the screeching sounds that Ink was making. It didn't really help though.
I heard the medbay door slowly creak open, the creature was still making those awful slimy sounds.

Then it came inside.

The creature suddenly screeched when it entered the medbay.
That left Ink more frantic in his cage. I gripped on the scissors tightly. I couldn't think straight, but I knew I'll have to fight this creature once it finds me.
Then there were sounds of glass breaking from the ceiling.
The more time I heard the glass break, the room dimmed and turned darker.

It was breaking the lights! But... why?

I didn't try making a noise, I just laid under one of the beds and waited for the time when I had to fight this thing.

Or if it will leave

I was really hoping I wouldn't have to fight it. Even though I would probably respawn in the SMP. But something told me that this was real, too real.
Usually, all the mobs Meme added were always glitchy and lagging.

This one wasn't.

"M- MUFFIN-"

Meme's voice yelled from my watch. I put a hand over the watch, hoping that the creature didn't hear it.

Oh Meme why are you making an announcement now?!

"MUFFIIIN- GGG GE-"
His voice glitched badly through the announcement. I was trying to find a way to shut it off but I just couldn't.

"GETTTT OUTTTA-"
I took the watch off and stuffed it in my pocket to muffle it.

"THREREREREEE-"
Then it went quiet. But I knew that I was dead, so dead.
I heard the sound of solid liquids pressing against each other and plopping down onto the floor. Then I felt something sticky and cold underneath my fingers.
I looked down.
I immediately jumped back and hit my head against the bed when I realized that the strange thing that I was touching was the creature.

THIS FEELS SO GROSS-

The creature broke more of itself down into liquid and slowly seeped under the bed.
I tried stabbing it with the scissor but the piece of the creature easily dodged it as if it were water and struck back towards me by forming a small grip and grabbed hold of my wrist.
Just when I was about to try to pry away from the grip, the creature pulled me right out of the bed and flung me against the window.
My head hit the window with so much force that I thought I could've sworn I heard my own skull crack. Pain erupted all around the back of my head and front for a quick second.
Then there was nothing else that I could see...

"This is bad, like really bad,"
Meme was pacing around the room frantically with a troubled look. Joocie was sitting on the couch with a worried expression as he tried his best to stay calm. But he couldn't.
His son was in danger.
We've all just looked through the camera of a drone peering behind the medbay windows and witnessed Muffin getting flung by someone or something.
We all heard something crack before the camera went to an utter stop with all the electricity going off in the basement. The blackout also caused the portal to turn off along with the machine, but not the other floors for some reason.

We were using flashlights and candles to see in the dark. Meme didn't have a generator, and he wasn't planning to get one any time soon. He just couldn't afford it. Meme already tried fixing the electric box but he says that it was completely fine. So now he was probably thinking what went wrong.

"Maybe- maybe I should call an electrician, they'll know what to do!"
Meme thought out loud. I groaned.

"But Meme, you are the electrician!"

"Yeah, I know Nadwe! But maybe this just needs a professional fix!"
He pulled out his phone.

"I'm going to call someone to fix this."
He announced and was about to dial an electrician till he shot up in alarm.

"OH CRAP- BLAZA AND LAFF HAS BEEN OUTSIDE OF MY HOUSE THIS WHOLE TIME?!"
Joocie miserably looked up at Meme and shook his head as he sighed.

"Let me guess, you forgot to turn off Do not disturb again?"
Meme shot him a look.

"No! Definitely not. I am an adult so I totally know the difference between "Do not disturb" and "Do disturb" mode."
He nervously chuckled and dashed out of the basement to let Blaza and Laff in.
So it was just me and Joocie.
I thought it would've been much more fun being with the adults with all the tension going on but I wish I stayed with Muffin instead.
If I stayed, maybe I could've helped him... and know what attacked Muffin at least.

I didn't know what to do, my best friend was trapped in the SMP along with Socks and Tbh.
I hated it when adults are able to deal with the problems and all I could do was sit and watch.

"Nadwe, are you feeling alright?"
Joocie's voice was weak, probably already thinking that Muffin's dead. The thing is, I didn't know what to feel about this.
Muffin could've respawned and is now trapped in the SMP with anyone who's left in there. Maybe everything isn't as bad as all of us thought.

"Yeah, I'm doing alright."
That's all I said before I tried contacting Muffin through the SMP watch again, but then had to remind myself that it doesn't work in the real world.
The SMP watches were only meant for the SMP, once in the real world, it's just a plain old useless watch.
I sighed.

Muffin better be okay in there.

"MEME- what took you so long to let us in?! I was BANGING THE DARN DOOR!!"
The sound of Blaza's voice outbursted as Meme emerged into the basement with Laff and Blaza himself.

"There were some difficulties, okay?! Now quit yelling at me, I need to talk to Laff."
Meme brought Laff to the computer attached to the R.V.G.I. (Look, I remember what it was called because Meme won't stop talking about it everyday when he worked on it)

"Aight, what seems to be the problem?"
Laff asked as he looked at the computer screen next to Meme.

"Something attacked Muffin back in the SMP, and I heard something crack. I really hope it's nothing serious but what I'm trying to say is-"
Both of them got into a mumble at the point where I couldn't make out what they were saying. Blaza meanwhile was typing something on his phone before he came towards where Joocie and I sat on the couch.

"So, can someone please tell me what the heck happened while Laff and I were gone?"

He asked, taking his time to close his phone. Joocie then started to explain what happened to Muffin in a shortened version. I added in some details in case Joocie missed something.

"Oh no, Muffin got attacked? I thought we couldn't feel any pain in the SMP towards mobs though...? I think he'll be fine, if he did die, he'll just respawn right?"

Joocie shot Blaza a glare.

"Even if he does respawn, it doesn't stop me from worrying about him. After this, he and I are going home."

Blaza and I at the same time looked at Joocie in disbelief.

"What?! Why does Muffin have to go?!"

I asked and stood up. Blaza did the same as he pushed his sunglasses up.

"Yeah! Muffin won't be too happy if you just took him away just like that!"

Blaza countered.

"Look, I know it might be fun being in the SMP but you have to understand that I'm just trying to protect him."
Blaza slouched back down on the couch and sighed heavily.

"You do have a point."

"Well Nadwe, what do you think?"

An unfamiliar voice whispered beside my ear and I jumped back. Joocie and Blaza looked at me questionably at my reaction.

"You seem skittish today kiddo."

Blaza commented as he leaned on the couch.

"Nadwe, did something scare you?"

Joocie asked with concern. I shook my head.

"No, I just thought I saw a bug,"
I lied.

"Those things are so gross."
I fake shuddered to empathize with what I was saying.

"Alright, but if anything is troubling you, you can talk to me, okay?"
Joocie gave me a suspicious look before masking it back up with worry.

What was that about?

Nah, that was probably nothing. I'm pretty sure I imagined it.

"Yeah I know Joocie, thanks."
I responded with a thumbs up. Joocie gave a thumbs up back.

"Careful, don't get jumpy when I'm talking to you."

I nearly jumped the second time but I breathed in sharply and remained calm. Joocie gave me another concerned look before slowly turning away to talk to Blaza, who seemed to be extremely obsessed with his phone today.
His fingers were back on his phone.

"You can't talk to me now but I came to warn you that he will come after everyone that you know if you don't shut off that machine."

The voice continued to whisper beside my ear. I wanted to ask who they were but was also wondering if I was either slowly losing my mind or this was just my imagination.

"Go inside of that machine, rip out the power source."

"Uh, I'm gonna grab a snack real quick-"

I excused myself quickly, curious to find out what this voice was talking about. Joocie gave me a questioning look and nodded before resuming with the talk that he was having with Blaza.

"Watch your step!"

The voice warned me before I nearly tripped on the staircase. I mumbled a thanks in my head. Though I doubted that the voice can hear me.

"Are you trying to talk to me?"

I nodded my head.

"Oh, okay, cool."

So the voice can somehow see me move?

It was crazy how this imagination or this voice was still talking to me. What I needed was some answers on what in the world is even happening.
I left the basement and headed to the dining table as I also grabbed a small bag of chips from the pantry on the way there.

"If you want to talk back to me, just whisper under your breath. It'll be weird if people saw you talking to yourself."

I ripped open the bag of chips and put one piece in my mouth before I swallowed and whispered something back to the creepy voice.

"Who are you?!"

"Oh uhm..."

The voice paused and I kept eating the chips and waited for a response.

"Why don't we say that I'm just trying to prevent unnecessary events from happening to your home?"

"Do you have a name?"

I whispered, still having a mouthful of chips.

"I'm N-"

There was a gasp and the voice paused again.

"I'm-I'm no one with a special or an awesome name. Just call me whatever you wanna call me."

The voice responded.

Okay... I think this is a dream that I'm gonna have to wake up from-

I thought and wrapped up the bag of chips, not feeling like eating it.

"I'm just going to call you the voice in my head because I feel like this is all fake."

"Nonono, I'm real Nadwe! I just can't give you a lot of details in a short amount of time."

The voice responded desperately.

"Also, were you telling me to destroy Meme's machine earlier?"

I asked.

"That machine was Meme's?! Wow, that's pretty awesome that h-"
The voice cleared their throat.

"Someone can make something like that."

The voice continued.

"I told you to destroy it earlier because what Meme is doing is causing your home to be in danger. He's tampering with things that he shouldn't. And it's going to make him angry."

"What do you even mean?! And how do you already know my name and Meme's?!"

"Because I know a lot more stuff than you don't."

Then the voice went quiet.

"Hello?"

I whispered, waiting for the voice to answer. It didn't respond back.

"Mysterious voice, hellloooo?!"

I tried again.

"HELLO?!"

I was no longer whispering at that point and heard something bump from one of the cabinets.

Now what?!

First, it was a voice that was talking to me and now I feel like I'm just hearing things! I crumpled my bag of chips and just threw it away in the trash. The chips were tasteless anyway.

Thuwamp

That noise came again, and I was pretty sure it was close. I got off the dining chair and walked over to the kitchen cautiously.
I leaned down to the four large cabinets next to the main stove and started looking through each of them.

The first one had nothing in it, just cans of food.

The second one was just empty.

The third one had pots and pans.

The fourth cabinet was harder to open. Like the knob was stuck. So I had to grip on the handle and pull it as hard as I could.
It took some effort but finally, the cabinet door gave way and revealed something large inside.
It was a figure covered in the shadows of the cabinet, their pair of green eyes shone and stared right back at me, frightened and shocked.

Wait...

It took a minute before my brain recognized who was cramped in the cabinet.

"W-Woolf?!"

"Mission to receive Specimen 086 were unsuccessful,"
Agent Magpie reported angrily as he slammed his fist on the car wheel.

"Target was taken away by one or more people. They drove into a desolate town near the target's apartment, then lost us from there."
I added, looking online to find the car that looked exactly like the one that drove away the target recently.
Agent Magpie and I weren't able to get a clear picture of the driver's license plate. It was all covered in dirt and smudges.

"You are both well trained agents and you can't even receive Specimen 086 successfully?!"
The person speaking through the radio yelled upsettingly at the both of us.

"Many others will be in great danger. We cannot have any more slips like this. Next time this happens, you are both demoted. Understood?"

"Yes ma'am."

Agent Magpie and I both confirmed at the same time.

"Good, we already have a lot going on here in T.E.C., we wouldn't want to use the reinforcements.."

There were sounds of clicking and static at the end of the radio.

"Is there anything else that you would like to tell us before Agent Solar and I continue on our search ma'am?"
Magpie asked, leaning in closer to the radio box placed next to the wheel.

There were sounds of people coming in and out along with the sound of papers rustling on the other end.

"If in any matter you are unable to restrain Specimen 086 successfully, terminate the host."

Something's not quite right.

I am unsure why I am having feelings of worry after the final session of the day. It is unnatural for me to behave like this after having an exhausting day of searching.
The clock has already struck ten by the time they put me back in my prison.

Something's not quite right

The pondering thought wouldn't leave me be. My mind was clearly troubled by something that I was clearly not aware of.

Perhaps you just need yourself to rest.

I figured that was the most logical explanation. I sat up from the strange piece of furniture and folded my legs as I took a breath and allowed myself to close my eyes. Though, I only have one functional eye

I continued to focus on the tranquility that were stored in the back of my mind and held onto it till I had successfully blocked out all the noise from the outside.
Once I have opened my eyes. I no longer saw the dull chamber prison, nor the blinking red surveying security cameras.
I was back at the preferable place where I was able to get my troubles away from the horrid facility.

A place I still haven't yet named.

There wasn't much to it really. Just a vast darkness of space expanded endlessly and stretched out for miles.
What made this place so special for myself was that I am able to see into each child's dream as I am figuring my own way back to regain my full power's potential.
When in the trance of meditation, I usually do not enter here, but this sense of worry has been nagging my mind like a bothersome headache. I was wondering if seeing each child's dreams might help ease my emotions.

As I allowed all the orb-like wisps to appear in this vast emptiness, they all arranged themselves into a gallery.
Each child's dreams were shown through these orbs, displayed neatly in the area. I have always admired these magnificent things, the orbs work just like how a gateway would.
As I have started my walk around this wonderful gallery of dreams, a sudden thought has come to me.

This would be the perfect time to visit the child. I surely hope the child doesn't stay up during this hour.

I smiled at the thought and motioned my hands to bring up an imaginary small theater screen and pictured the child's features in the best of my memories' ability.
In my command, the theater screen flashed brighter as I allowed myself to enter in to the child's consciousness.

- - -

As I stepped out of the imaginary theater screen, the gateway dissolved. Everything was quiet... I must admit, perhaps a little too quiet.
There were no dreams, sounds, or voices.
I looked around and went to search for the child Muffin.
I was positively sure that I am in the child's councieness where all the dreams took place. I could feel their presence somewhere in this empty space.

Something's not quite right

Ah, that pondering thought once again. And it seems my worry has only slightly increased even more. My pace became quicker as I searched for the child.
Just as I was about to turn back and look in a different direction, I saw a small figure somewhere in the distance, their face buried in their arms.

That must be them

I shuffled closer towards to the small figure and could clearly see that it was indeed a child. As I got nearer, I was shook.
The child's body was all covered up in small red cuts and scratches, a puddle of ugly red flowed from where the child hid their face.
I knelt down closely and carefully lifted the child's face up, there was a large unpleasant cut at the side of their forehead.

What has happened to this child?

Though I was fully aware that this would not work, I took an attempt to wipe the blood off of the child's forehead.
To no surprise, I cannot fix what was dealt from the physical form. The blood stayed on the child's forehead.

"Are you alright Muffin?"
I tried to call using the child's name but they didn't stir. This was a clear sign that the mind was unconscious. This was quite rare for myself to encounter a person in such a terrible state like this.

Who would do such a thing to this child ? Could this be some sort of kidnapping?

I had several assumptions in mind but I knew what must be done in order to figure this out.

Take over

I despised ever using this skill. However, it has helped me in many other dire situations. Perhaps this time it will help me once again.
I was exhausted, yes, and it would drain a lot from myself. But I just cannot risk this child to be killed or lost. I refuse to wait when I still have the chance to save someone. I was going to act rational.

I certainly would not let the incident happen, not twice.

I extended my hand up in the air and focused on the distant energy that brought down five strands of glowing blue strings. I carefully let the strings attach themselves to the child's legs, wrist, and neck.
As I did so, I brought up another small rectangular theater screen, only this time it flowed deeply blue.

With no hesitation, I stepped in

And opened in a new pair of eyes.
