Amy walked into the nearby forest, trying to find where the whimpering was coming from.

"Hello!? Is anyone here!?" She called out.

Suddenly the whimpering sounded a bit louder, indicating that she was getting close.

Eventually the sound led her to a nearby tree and when she looked behind it, she saw a little human girl with short brown hair, a green dress and green flats kneeling on the ground holding her left arm which appeared to be bleeding.

"M-M-Mommy, d-d-daddy, h-h-help me." She cried with tears flowing down her cheeks.

Amy couldn't help but feel teary eyed herself. The heartbreaking sight immediately made her motherly instincts kick in.

"Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.

The girl looked up but felt nervous at the sight of someone she had never seen before.

"U-U-Um..." She didn't know what to say.

"Don't worry. I want to help you. Can I see the wound?" She said while taking a tissue out of her purse.

The girl lifted her right hand to reveal a small cut on the underside of her left forearm.

Amy applied the tissue to the cut and told the girl keep it there to stop the bleeding.

"We should look for a bathroom, so we can get the cut cleaned. Come with me and stay close." She said.

"O-Okay." The little girl replied.

Eventually they made it out of the forest to nearest bathroom they could find.

Amy then had the girl put her bleeding arm in the sink so that the cut could be washed with soap and warm water. After the bleeding had stopped and the cut was clean and dried, Amy applied some antibiotic cream to the wound to prevent infection and finished it off with a sterile bandage.

"Feeling better?" Amy asked with a soft motherly smile.

The girl gave a small smile "I-I think so. Thank you miss..."

"Amy. Amy Rose."

"Nice to meet you Miss Amy."

"Likewise. So, would you mind telling me your name?"

"A-Alice."

"What a nice name." Amy smiled.

"Thank you Miss Amy." Alice smiled feeling more at ease.

"You're welcome. So, if I may ask what were you doing in that forest and how did you get that cut?"

Alice frowned but went ahead with telling her story.

"Well I was playing in the playground but suddenly I saw a squirrel picking up an acorn and went into the forest.  I thought the squirrel was soooo cute that I wanted to see where it lived."

"So you chased after it?" Amy asked.

"Yes." Alice nodded.

"Didn't you tell your parents where you were going?"

Alice lowered her head.

"Did you?" Amy asked again.

Alice slowly shook her head.

Amy sighed.

"You should always ask your parents if you can go off on your own and if they say yes, you should always tell them where you're going." She said sternly.

"I'm sorry." Alice apologized.

"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to.  It's your parents."

"Okay."

"So anyway, how did you get that cut?" Amy asked.

"I tripped and cut my arm on a nearby rock.  I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." Alice said embarrassedly.

"What happened to the squirrel?"

"By the time I got up it was gone and that's when I noticed I was lost.  I walked through the forest crying for help but no one came."

Alice started shaking and felt her eyes get moist again.

"I-I was so scared.  I thought I was...I-I thought I was..."

Amy, feeling her motherly instincts kick in again, kneeled down to Alice's height and brought her into a protective hug.

"Shhhh....it's alright.  You're safe now.  Nothing's going to hurt you now." Amy said softly while rubbing her back and rocking her side to side to calm her down.

Alice returned the embrace and just cried in her arms letting it all out until eventually she calmed down.

"Feeling better?" Amy asked softly.

Alice raised her head while giving a small smile "Y-Yes."

Amy smiled and kissed her forehead.

"Why don't we go look for your parents?  They're probably worried sick about you by now." She said as she stood up and extended her left hand.

Alice smiled brighter and nodded while taking her hand.

Together they walked hand in hand out of the bathroom to look for Alice's parents.
