Toomi: While monsters like Godzilla are there to protect the planet, most of them don't...really have any love for humans

Megumi: Which is why mankind can always trust these two guardians. She's Sachi, Toomi and I'm Megumi.

Sachi: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle

Toomi: Long ago, an ancient civilization (which would one day inspire the myths of Atlantis) was attacked by a race of giant serpents that threatened to destroy their very way of life.

Megumi: I would say that escalated quickly, but that wasn't even the half of it.

Sachi: To combat these giant reptiles (whom later became known as the Garasharp), the Atlantians decided to answer the call by creating their own race of monsters. Specifically, giant vampire bat-like creatures called the Gyaos

Toomi: At first, their creations were a stellar success, as they wiped the giant snakes nearly to extinction.

Megumi: Though surprise surprise, with their food source now gone, the Gyaos turned on their masters, and almost wiped them to extinction. For a technologically advanced civilization capable of creating life, you would think they would have some kind of fail-safe to keep their murder birds under control.

Toomi: They actually do. But what was their solution to the betrayal of their own monsters? Why, create another race of giant monsters, of course! Obviously, they never learned from the mistakes of the past.

Sachi: Except that this time, it was a success. The results are a race of giant fire breathing turtles which were successful in quelling the Gyaos though most of them were killed off.

Megumi: All except one who would be known as Gamera, the Guardian of the Universe.

Sachi: And because of the rising levels of carbon dioxide and nitric acid compounds caused by global warming, the Gyaos eggs hatched, since it was now the right environment for them, Gamera then had awoken to defend the modern day civilization and the planet from his nemesis, the Gyaos and any other threats.

Toomi: For a giant turtle monster that weighs 10,000 tons, Gamera is quite damn agile, being somehow able to swing around a pull up bar and jump in the air with a solid landing better than any Olympics gymnast.

Megumi: Not to mention his variety of attacks. Gamera can fight hand to hand with his claws and tusks but his main attack is his fire breath which he can breathe in large streams or shoot out as individual fireballs. It is also so strong he can even use it underwater

Sachi: Well, technically it is plasma which is basically a far hotter form of fire. Considering this, it makes sense that it is that strong as the hottest man made plasma exceeded 3.6 million degrees, so the "fireballs" of Gamera can destroy or melt through practically anything.

Megumi: But that's not all! Gamera can literally fucking EAT fire! And when he does, it heals and powers him up making him fight back stronger and re-energized.

Toomi: Gamera can fly at mach 3 which is 2284 miles per hour! And he not only uses this for travel but it works as a great spinning shell ramming attack when fighting airborne battles against foes.

Sachi: Gamera was built using Mana, which is an etheral energy force connecting all places, things, and people. Someone's level of Mana depends on how much power they possess over others. Since Gamera is the guardian of the universe always protecting everyone from danger, his mana level is astronomical.

Megumi: Using his advanced manipulation of mana, Gamera gains access to his most powerful attacks like his kaiju sized falcon punch! Or even a giant destructive fiery mana beam shot directly from his chest!

Toomi: Gamera has accomplished some quite impressive things. His plasma fire is stronger than the Tsar bomb, he is fast enough to catch a missile that was going Mach 10, smart enough to repair an alien spacecraft, and he is durable to survive an explosion which destroyed the entire city of Sendai. An explosion that yielded 112 megatons of force.

Sachi: He has beaten various monsters ranging from Gyaos, Guiron, Barugon, Viras, Irys, Zigra, Jiger and Legion.

Megumi: And apparently smart enough to repair an alien spacecraft. He does machines.

Toomi: And speaking of speed, Gamera has flown from Earth all the way to Planet Terra which is located on the other side of the Solar System itself.

Megumi: Damn, that must have taken quite some speed and endurance.

Toomi: But despite his intelligence, he is not infallible. Gamera's supposedly impenetrable defenses have been pierced before, one such example is when Viras pierced through his shell.

Sachi: And being a reptile means he's vulnerable to extreme cold as shown in his fight against Barugon.

Megumi: And unlike Godzilla, he is somewhat susceptile to conventional weaponary.

Toomi: And remember, Gamera is explicitly the Guardian of Earth, which does not necessarily include humanity. In fact, Gamera fears mankind may one day become the earth's greatest enemy.

Sachi: And yet Gamera has a strange fondness for children.

Megumi: Wait what?

Sachi: But he's sacrificed his life to save children on multiple occasions, even used his ultimate self-destruct move all for the safety of innocent children.

Toomi: In ancient times long predating our own, some adventurers made a voyage to the South Pacific. What they found would be one of the most incredible sights humanity would ever lay their eyes upon

Megumi: They found three fairies, known as the Elias: Moll, Lora, and Belvera. These fairies existed long before humanity and worshiped two Gods: Mothra, and Battra. Wait, hold on. These fairies worshiped two giant bugs?

Toomi: Uh...yes they do.

Megumi: Man, sweater eating bugs are worshipped as gods? What kind of world are we living in?

Sachi: Well, anyway, Mothra and Battra were both created by stronger Gods to protect Earth and humanity as a whole. However, shortly after the voyage, Moll and Lora were taken - and Mothra hatched from her egg, rampaging to save the two fairies.

Toomi: Now, Mothra and Battra had two different views on this. Mothra believed that humans could be trusted and were a necessary part of Earth, thinking that they could live peacefully.

Megumi: Though her counterpart Battra has a complete opposite view of this. Downright hating people and wanting to kill them all.

Toomi: Mothra is a kind and docile creature, preferring not to hurt others. But because of her differing views with Battra, the two of them became rivals pretty quickly. They have fought more than their fair share of times.

Megumi: During these fights, Mothra likes to shoot beams of light out of her antennas, and has reflective scales to bounce attacks back. Oh, and she can shoot poisonous darts

Sachi: Uh Megumi, those aren't poisonous.

Megumi: Huh? But Sachi, I'm sure they do poison other Kaijus though.

Sachi: They're VENOMOUS. If it's offensive, it's venom. If it's defensive, it's poison. Moving on. She can also summon down lightning and create shockwaves in the air using her wings.

Toomi: But what makes Mothra so unique is her ability to fly. And not like Godzilla's strange methods of flight, if you couldn't tell from her wings, Mothra can fly. Her wings being able to generate hurricanes in the process.

Sachi: Hurricane winds generally travel at 200 miles per hour and are devastating enough to wipe out entire countries if large enough. If a single hurricane were to spread across the entire planet, it could end all life on Earth.

Megumi: But by far the strangest of Mothra's abilities is to turn into a flying moth fireball! In this form, she not only catches fire, but she also flies faster and is more powerful!

Toomi: It was through this ability and others that she was able to accomplish some of her greatest feats. She has lifted Godzilla off of the ground, flown to deep space in a matter of minutes, defeated Gigan no less than twice, and helped Godzilla along with many other monsters defeat King Ghidorah.

Sachi: But she has two extremely impressive feats: One day, a meteor was about to crash right into Earth. This meteor was big and powerful enough to destroy Earth completely, so what did Mothra do? She straight-up went into space and zapped the meteor, destroying it before it could enter the atmosphere.

Galaxies can be from around 13 billion to 32 billion light-years apart from each other, meaning that Mothra had to have been flying at speeds massively faster than light.

Megumi: Holy crap! Did we mention that she defeated Godzilla twice?

Toomi: : Sadly for Mothra, she spends a lot of her time in Godzilla's shadow. She often relies on him to take out some of the tougher opponents, and has lost to Godzilla more times than she's beaten him.

Sachi: And plus, she is one of the most fragile Kaijus, being easily dominated by larger and stronger opponents.

Megumi: And like some species of insects, laying eggs is the end of her lifecycle so she has a tendency to die, a lot!

Weakness

Relatively lightweight kaiju

This makes her either a Fragile Speedster or Glass Cannon compared to other Kaiju

Only rampages if Moll and Lora are endangered or if she senses the presence of a grave perversion against nature like Kiryu.

Has been killed by Godzilla three times (she died of old age in her first duel).

Was killed by the revived Desghidorah, mostly due to old age

Mothra is normally at the end of her lifespand after she lays an egg.

Wings are abnormally frail.

Wings can be weakened if she sheds her scales during her poison dust attacks.

Toomi: And there were times other Kaijus have killed Mothra during their battle with Godzilla killiing her three times, Desghidorah killing her once and King Ghidorah killing her another time and there was one time Battra even killed her.

Sachi: And her venomous powder though is toxic enough to hurt other Kaijus, can end up weakening her own wings in the process since those are scales that makes up her wings after all.

Megumi: But should you ever underestimate Mothra, you will be in for the surprise of your life. I mean hey, if anyone can defeat Godzilla, she's a fighter in my book!

Toomi: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.

It is a peaceful day in Tokyo.

However, the tranquility was interrupted by a loud crash followed by an explosion.

KABOOM!!!

As buildings and vehicles were set ablaze, a massive turtle Kaiju stood tall, it's foot over the carcass of a dead winged vampiric creature as it rears it's head.

The turtle is Gamera, the Guardian of the Universe.

Gamera looks up before letting out one loud deafening roar.

Gamera: AAAEEERRRRRRR!!!

However, right at that moment, something flew right above him, attracting Gamera's attention.

WHOOSH!!!

Is that another Gyaos?

As Gamera looks, what he saw causes his eyes to widen in intrigue.

The newcomer confronting him is another Kaiju and although the creature is flying with it's wings, it does not resemble the Gyaos in anyway but it looks rather, more insectoid, like a giant moth.

The moth is Mothra, the Divine Moth.

Facing Gamera and deeming him as a threat to the humans, Mothra lets out a loud screech.

Mothra: CHEEEERNT!!!

Gamera: AAAEEEEERRRR!!!

Gamera roars back at Mothra before closing in onto her, the two Kaijus preparing to brawl amongst themselves.

Announcer: Fight!

Gamera swings his claw to which Mothra flies up, dodging a swing before slamming her body downwards, striking into him.

WHAM!!!

Gamera: AAEEERRRR!!!

As Gamera roars out in agony, Mothra spins around before ramming head first into him, sending Gamera slamming shell first into a nearby skyscrapper.

CRASH!!!

Mothra: CHEEERNTTT!!!

Mothra screeches as she flies back, flapping her wings as she began blowing a huge gust of wind onto the turtle.

Gamera looks up before letting out a loud roar.

Gamera: AAEEEERRRRR!!!

Gamera thens retracts his head and limbs into his shell, lowering into the covers of the smoke.

At that moment...

WHOOSH!!!

Mothra looks down, startled as something began flying out of the smoke.

A large turtle shell flies up, it's holes combusting fire as it propels itself up like a rocket, flying straight towards Mothra, slamming straight into her.

BAM!!!

Mothra: CHEEERNNNTTT!!!

Recovering from the blow, Mothra flaps her wings as she takes off into the air, flying back as she watches Gamera making a U Turn in the air before flying back towards her.

Both Mothra and Gamera flies across the air, wind vs fire, wings vs shell as the insect and reptile clashes in the air.

WHAM!!! BAM!!! POW!!!

WHOOSH!!!

Both Gamera and Mothra halts on each side of the city before turning around, with Gamera's head protruding out of his shell as he lets out a loud roar.

Gamera: AAEEEEERRRRR!!!

Mothra flies up, staring down at the turtle before unleashing a hail of her poisonous scales onto Gamera.

It only took Gamera a quick sniff of that powdery substance before the Guardian of the Universe began coughing uncontrollably, choking and gasping from the effect of the scales.

Mothra: CHEEEERNNNT!!!

Shaking his head, Gamera narrows his eyes as he opens his mouth, charging up a burst of flames in his jaw.

FWOOSH!!!

Looking up, Gamera prepares to launch a ball of fire straight onto Mothra.

FWOOM!!!

However, what he did was a big mistake as upon making contact with the powder, the fire ball immediately ignites, combusting into a massive explosion.

KABOOM!!!

Gamera: AAEEEERRRRR!!!

Gamera stumbles back, waving his hand to douse the flames on his body as he roars out in agony.

But the explosion did however succeeded in sending Mothra flying back, causing the Divine Moth to crash back first into a building.

CRASH!!!

Gamera looks up, his eyes gleaming with anger as he lets out another roar at Mothra.

Gamera: AAEEEEERRRRR!!!

Although wounded by the attack, Mothra refuses to give in, crawling out of the debris, Mothra shakes the dust off her wings before screeching at Gamera.

Mothra: CHEEERRRNNNTTT!!!

Gamera then propels himself forward, slamming right into Mothra.

CRASH!!!

Mothra: CHEEEERRNNNTT!!!

Mothra lets out a loud screech as Gamera held her down, clenching his claw as he strikes her two times in the face.

WHAM!!! WHAM!!!

Gamera charges up the mana energy around his fist, preparing to throw a third punch when Mothra shoves her stinger upwards, stabbing Gamera in the underbelly.

SHOK!!!

Gamera: AAAAEEEEERRRRR!!!

Gamera lets out a loud roar of agony as Mothra glares at him, the Divine Moth removing her green blood stained stinger out of Gamera's under belly.

SHOK!!!

Mothra: CHEEERRNNTTTT!!!

Mothra then flies up, swooping upwards into the air before diving down, firing several eye beams straight onto Gamera.

PIU!!! PIU!!! PIU!!!

The onslaught of blasts pushes Gamera back as Gamera opens his mouth, summoning a ball of fire within in.

FWOOM!!!

Gamera then launches a blast of fire right onto Mothra, forcing her to unleash her scales.

Upon contact, the scales immediately combusts into a massive explosion, engulfing Mothra in flames in the process.

KABOOM!!!

Mothra: CHEEEERRRNNNTTT!!!

Mothra lets out a screech of agony as she felt her body burns but using that to her advantage, she flies towards Gamera at high speed, preparing to use her burning body in an attempt to destroy Gamera in the process.

However, right as she closes in, Gamera grabs her with both his claws, growling as he throws her several times into the buildings.

CRASH!!! CRASH!!! CRASH!!!

Lifting up the still burning Mothra, Gamera opens his mouth, sucking in the flames around her body as he began consuming it.

FWOOM!!!

Upon consumption, Gamera then throws Mothra down into a skyscrapper.

CRASH!!!

Standing forward, Gamera's body began emitting a bright glow of mana as he began charging up the energy inside him.

WHOOM!!! WHOOOM!!! WHOOM!!!

Not willing to give up, Mothra pushes herself up as her eyes began glowing. charging up her eye beams as she flies forward, preparing to finish off Gamera.

However, right at thaat moment, Gamera lets out one final roar.

Gamera: AAAEEEEEEERRRRRRR!!!

With that, Gamera fires one powerful blast of mana from his chest, blasting it right onto Mothra.

THOOM!!!

Mothra: CHREEEENNTTT!!!

Mothra lets out one final screech as her body began disintergrating before going off in one massive explosion.

KABOOM!!!

As the flames dies down, Gamera watches the smothering remains fades into dust before letting out one loud roar of victory.

Gamera: AAAAAEEEEEERRRR!!!

Megumi: Well, looks like the Shobijin have a new guardian now.

Toomi: This is certainly one interesting match to say. Mothra's speed and flight gave her the speed advantage in this battle and her small size certainly makes dodging Gamera's attacks easy but she lacks the strength to match Gamera.

Sachi: While Mothra is certainly capable of lifting a kaiju as heavy as Godzilla who is much heavier than Gamera, lifting strength is not the same as striking strength as Mothra has lost against enemies far stronger than she is.

Megumi: And Gamera's shell is also a big factor, being a turtle means Gamera can always hide in his shell to protect himself from most of Mothra's attacks which is much better compared to Mothra lacking any armor of her own.

Toomi: Though in terms of strategy, both Kaijus can be argued to be equal as there were many times both Mothra and Gamera has shown enough intelligence to beat their enemies through strategising which can explain how Mothra figured out Gamera's under belly as his weak point to bypass his defense and Gamera eating the fire around Mothra to give himself a boost in power

Sachi: And not to mention, Mothra's venomous powder though is effective against Gamera due to how sensitive those substances are, they are not enough to truly defeat an opponent considering the fact Mothra has rarely defeated any Kaijus through venomous powder alone and most of the time, she uses them to deflect any form of projectiles from any Kaijus

Megumi: Which would have been really useful if it wasn't for the fact those things are highly explosive, since during Mothra's fight with Gigan, she became a literal girl on fire.

Toomi: But to be fair, that fire is what can enable Mothra to perform her kamikaze attack on Gamera except for one fatal flaw. Gamera eats fire so attempting to burn or blow him up would be useless as Gamera could just eat that fire.

Sachi: I know some of you could argue to say Mothra should have won since she did defeat Kaijus stronger than Gamera except that Mothra usually needed help to perform those feats, especially since Godzilla is usually the one that does most of the heavy lifting while Gamera has literally no Kaiju allies in his series, meaning he is forced to deal with every opponent no matter how strong all on his own and he ends up beating them in the end.

Megumi: Yeah, talk about tough.

Toomi: Dominating Mothra in size, strength, armor and power, Gamera just needed to charge up all the Mana energy he needs to fire one powerful blast in order to finish off Mothra once and for all.

Megumi: You know, instead of a pun, I should sing instead.

Toomi: Oh God.

* During the start of the fight, a Gyaos corpse was seen which implied that Gamera fought and defeated the Gyaos prior to the fight

* The part where Mothra stabbed Gamera was inspired by the scene in Godzilla King of the Monsters where Mothra stabbed Rodan

* The part where Gamera kills Mothra with his chest beam is ironically similar to how Mothra died in Godzilla Tokyo SOS and Godzilla King of the Monsters where a blast attack was what killed Mothra

* During the post fight analysis, Megumi sang a parody of the Gamera song instead of making a pun which makes this the first What if Battle to end off without a pun

* The Gamera song parody was inspired by the MST3K version of the song and also Boomstick's parody of the song in the Death Battle Godzilla vs Gamera
