Before either of Danny and Frost could formulate an answer a huge bang came by the metal doors. A woman in a silver hijab and equally silver eyes, wild eyes. A woman with bobbed black hair dressed in red stood next to her and grinned.

"How did you get in- ?!" Humanity stuttered.

"Easy," Convenience said with lips stretched back, "We went old school, smashed our way in." With that, she raised some loose chunk of debris and tossed into the machine that was ultimately blocked by the crystal monster. The grin faded to a look on concentration, "Fate! You have to go!"

Frost and Danny looked at each other with wide-eyes, thoughts racing as Fate turned to the boys and then to Convenience with a pained expression.

In the side leather latch, Convenience brings out a knife and bears her teeth, "Fate! C'mon! We planed this! She turned to her, movements sharp and fierce, "Go."

Fates face tightened to something like grief before running to the boys and yanking them by the collar of their shirts. "We must go,"

Danny scrambled to his feet, "How can we sure that we can trust you?!"

Fate unclinched her hands and let go. "Do you want to stay here instead?"

Frost hesitated before he shrugged, "... She has a point."

A metallic figure that guarded the door and looked like it came right from a steampunk novel creaked and cracked from its position and reached out with grabbing hands before Danny lunged and kicked it a few feet back. "I guess we go with you, huh Fate?" Danny said.

Fate in response pushed them to the exit Convenience and she burst through originally.  The wind howled and the sea down at the bottom of the cliff screeched and roared against the rock.

Both Frost and Danny stumbled, Danny circled his arms backward and Frost declared, "Oh shit-!"

Both fell down and as Fate leaped and a silver portal finally came in sight, swallowing the three of them.

                                                                                        . . .

Danny gasped and shuttered as Frost looked around with wide eyes. "Danny," Frost said, "I know this is an understatement but That Was Intense."

It was the same office that started it all, Danny noted. With its white walls and neat desk. The Only difference was the paper in what could only be in Arabic and the red lines connecting the dotes on random sheets that were near orderly on a wall.

Danny, however, ignored it and looked at Fate, who wheezed and trembled as if trying not to sob. Both Frost and Danny once glanced at each other before looking back at Her.

"We could go back for her," Danny said, "Right?"

She barked a laugh before shaking her head, "I can't. That portal was made before we were affected by the machine, and as of now, I have no powers. I may as well be another woman passing by on the street."

"That makes the both of us, I couldn't even use the wind-" Frost then blinks. "-Say, you're Fate? The same lady that, you know, buried Danny alive?"

"... Yes, unfortunately."

"Good to know." Frost gave one of those smiles that showed that he was up to no good. "What was the deal, anyway? Care to share?"

"Frost, hon."

"Right, right. You need to talk this out on your own, got it. I'll just... um, that corner of the room will suffice. See ya." Frost whistled loudly and was midway across the gleaming office-like room before turning around, "You'll fill me in later though, right? I mean you don't have to but it would be nice."

"Yeah," Danny said, "later, thanks."

"No problem deary." Frost continued whistling the same tone before continuing to walk in the same said corner. He nabbed a book from the counter of the desk and plopped himself on the ground criss-cross-applesauce. His staff leaning against the wall next to him.

Fate raised a brow, marvelously regaining her composure even if she tightened her eyes and shook occasionally. "If you're just going to tell him what we speak of later then why bother sending him away at all?"

Danny gave a loose shrugged, "For now, this is something I need to do on my own."

For a moment, they both sat there in silence.

"I'm, uh, I'm sorry about her, Convenience." Says Danny.

"We both knew what would or could occur. Her capture was... one of the most likely paths." Fate furrowed her brows as she looked back at Danny. "If I may be bold, you are a lot less angry then what I suspected you to be when we were to cross paths again."

"Oh, trust me, there would've been a time when you would've been right. For several weeks I was on the streets, covered in dirt because you thought that the best place to first put me was literally six feet under. And that's still excluding my memories, my home- where ever that was, and frankly whatever else you took from me."

Fate looked at anywhere else but Danny.

"But," Danny hesitated, "After hanging around with a bunch of spirits, I learned a thing or two about how you guys work."

Fate looked genuinely curious. "Oh?"

"Uh, yeah." Danny scratched the back of his head, no doubt at lost on how to explain. "Well, like Frost there for example. Sometimes he just up and does things because, and I quote, 'the wind told me too', Sometimes, he does storms and drops the temperature almost absentmindedly." Danny shrugged, "And with the other spirits it has to be the same because most of them have don't have clocks, or anything to tell the time except for North. Even then, Noth keeps them for fun and fixes them without help."

"And what does all of this mean to you, exactly?"

"My point is, I know you're not trying to be malicious. In simple terms, you're not the 'bad guy' or whatever. Just a catalyst for events, like every other spirit. The things you did to me, you did it because something told you to. Whether it's the literal universe or just your unconscious I don't know but-"

"Time."

"... Sorry?"

"Time," Fate said, "Is what guides me to the next job that needs to be done."

"... huh. Alright, figures. And lemme guess, if you don't do it, something worse happens in place?"

A shadow crossed Fate's face. "Essentially."

"Um, Right." Danny blinked and frowned before looking at the ground. "Uh, good to know, I guess."

A moment of silence stretched between the two.

"... I am sorry, for what I had to do with you. You must have so many questions and I'm afraid I can't answer most of them."

Danny perked up, "But, it sounds like you can answer some of them, right?"

"Indeed, but what I know is a short list."

"... Disappointed," Danny shrugged, "But not surprised. Whatever, the story of my life, I think." Danny shuffled nervously but he seemed to be fighting a smile on his face. "Do I just-? You know what, let's just dive in do you have any I idea where I am from?"

"No, but you are not from this universe."

Danny blinked and jerked his head back a bit. "Long way from home then, Is it weird that I'm not really surprised? Like I knew but I didn't know if you get my drift. I guess, then if you don't know where I'm from you don't know who I am or anything about who I was, huh?"

"No, I'm afraid not," Fate said, "I am sorry."

"At least you're honest, that's more than most. Next question..." Danny paused to consider it before he had the look on his face like a light bulb appeared above his head. "Do you have any idea why you had to do what you did?"

Something dark and somber flashed through her eyes. "I'm not sure, not entirely. But, If I had to make a guess, you're here as a weapon, somehow. The final blow. Whatever abilities or memories you have, they are only on a timer. When they will come, I don't know either, but they will come back."

"Oh," Danny said numbly, "That was my next question too. I'm basically supposed to be a secret weapon? That's, um, not going to lie that's kind of sounds awful. But, if kind of... it kind of explains a lot."

Fate nods, "No, It's not the best of destinies."

Danny cleared his throat, "Anyway, the last question of today. Why, on earth, did you bury me? Like seriously, what purpose does that serve?"

"I genuinely have no idea. I would randomly lie and give false speculations to all else who ask but I have no clue, well, except one possibility."

"Wait, really?"

"To hide you."

"Even that doesn't make a lot of sense,"

"Agreed." Says Fate, "But spirits, oddly given all the jobs in the world, can not track things and those that have been buried. The confusion wouldn't last for long, but it would give you a head start."

Danny considered it. "That would explain why I didn't see any spirits until for a few weeks."

"And it explains why before I had to lie about it to Convenience."

"What?"

Fate waved it off and Danny gave her an odd look.

"... Ok then. I guess we'll wait here until you powers return,"

"We have little choice of that, I'm afraid."

"A very polite way to say 'no duh', I gotta hand it to you, not even most spirits say things with as much... um, grace as you."

Fate gave a small smile, "Thank you."

"I'm going over to Frost now because this is a lot to take in, And you probably want to be left alone given that you lost her, whatever Convenience is to you-"

"She is my wife."

"Oh... I am so sorry."

Fate nodded, "That's... Thank you."

"Oh, and thank you for rescuing us, It... couldn't have been an easy choice if you knew some of its outcomes."

Fate stayed silent. And Danny pushed away to Frost without another word.

. . .

Authors Note:

Hey, guess whos not dead?! Lovely to 'see' you all!

More notes:

Btw Fate was ALWAYS, supposed to be a good guy, even in the original drafts, I did want to give her a Clockwork like arc tho like in That Episode.

And not going to lie, I originally had it where Danny was buried alive because it sounded metal as hell and I loved the aesthetic. No depth involved what-so-ever. Forgive me?

As per usual, Thank you for reading! And waiting oh god I am so sorry about that guys.

Till next time!
