Jared never told anyone about what had happened to him three months ago. It traumatized him too much. He really didn't want to remember it.

He would have nightmares about it.

During those times, he would try to remember Sam. Sam made him feel human. Since he had lost track of time, Sam was the only thing kept him sane.

Of course, he had continued forward, so he hadn't seen Sam since their first meet. He missed the little guy.

He still had no where near the amount of money he needed to get glasses, so he would often run into people.
But nothing serious ever happened.

Until...

Eight months since running away

Jared was walking on the sidewalk in some city. He didn't notice that he was slowly easing towards his right, getting closer and closer to the street. He wandered into the street.

A car zoomed by right in front of him. It startled him so much that he fell over in surprise.

While he was down, a different car came towards him. It stopped before it hit him, but it stopped right on top of his left leg. The person got out to try help Jared, only to see that they had completely crushed his leg.

They immediately got back in and backed up.

When they were sure that they were off his leg, they helped him up. He had tears flowing down his face.

"Sir, do you have a car?"
They asked, concern in their voice.

"N-no"

"A family?"
They tried.

"No"

"Friends?"
They were desperate by now.

Jared laughed bitterly
"Not anymore"

"I'm taking you to the hospital."
They said.

They carried him to the car.

"Wait, you have insurance right?"
They asked doubtfully

"Um... hahaha"

"Ah shit."
They said frustrated

Jared wiped his tears.

His leg hurt like actual hell. But he was used to hiding his pain.

Jared was at the hospital now

"Name?"
The nurse asked.

"Uh"

"Honey, you have to tell me your name."
She said.

"Jared Kleinman..."

The nurse's eyes widened significantly.
"D-do you have insurance...?"

"No"

"You're the one who ran away, correct?"
She asked knowingly

"Um yea"

"Okay. Your uncle has insurance.
But may I ask why you ran away?"
She commented and asked.

"Thank you and I rather not say."

She nodded and they prepared him for the x-ray.

Jared let himself think. Well this would be interesting...
