The rain still poured down when morning came. Its slight pitter-patter on the bathroom window seemed to echo through the room. Victoria was already awake. She had been staring at Yoongi's sleeping face for a while. His lips were parted slightly, chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. His arm was still draped around her back, though his hand fell limp.

She reached a hand up to touch his cheek softly, only wanting to feel the smooth skin. His eyelashes fluttered a bit before he opened his heavy eyes. They landed on hers and he immediately began to smile, only to wince in pain and retract.

"Careful," she warned, moving her face closer to examine his lip. "It looks better, though. It's scabbed over."

Yoongi placed his hand over hers and leaned even closer. "Does that mean I can kiss you now?"

Victoria giggled a bit and smoothed her thumb over his skin. "Not yet. You could open it back up."

He didn't respond, only letting out a disappointed sigh to which she smiled and pressed a small kiss to his nose. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips, but he couldn't let it go anymore without pain. Her eyes scanned his bruised eye. It was still purple and red. Swollen, too.

"I can make a cold compress for your eye," she offered before pulling away to get up.

Yoongi reached out to grab her wrist, but yelled out in pain and clutched his hand to his chest. "Fuck! I forgot about this fucking thing."

She returned to his side and lifted his shirt sleeve to see that blood had seeped through the wound on his arm. The dressing would have to be changed. "I have to re-do this," she mumbled. "Sit up." It came out as a command, but she helped him to sit upright before retrieving her supplies again.

"Is it gonna hurt?" he asked quietly, eyeing her as she sat across from him like the previous night.

Victoria smiled at him and held out her hand. "If it hurts, squeeze my hand, okay?" He nodded and laced their fingers together, watching her other hand carefully as it took the tape off.

The gauze wasn't as easy. The blood had dried on some of it and was sticking slightly. He whined as she carefully pulled it off. "Don't worry," she said when he squeezed her hand. "Almost done."

The worst part was cleaning the wound again. She used another hydrogen peroxide-soaked piece of gauze, but it still stung like hell. He squeezed her hand tightly and yelled, "Fuck my ass! God dammit!"

Victoria pressed her lips together to keep from laughing, but a smile slipped out anyway. "I'm sorry, you big baby."

"Hey!" He pouted slightly, facial expressions limited due to his injuries. "I'd like to see you go through this and not feel pain." Another sigh. "I need a cigarette."

She only smoothed his hair back with her free hand before applying new, clean gauze. "I have to let go now so I can tape it. You shouldn't feel any pain from this." She applied the necessary pressure before wrapping the tape around his arm and securing it. "There."

After she replaced his knuckle and nose dressings, she grabbed some Vaseline out of her nightstand. Yoongi's lips looked pretty dry, so he let her apply the balm to them with her gentle touch. "So what exactly happened last night?" she asked quietly while she cupped his cheek with one hand and applied the moisturizer to his lips with the other.

Yoongi took in a deep breath and averted his gaze. "Don't worry about it."

"I am going to worry about it." She sat back, brows knitted together. "That thing on your arm really looks like it's from a bullet. Yoongi, you could have died! Couple that with being chased down by gangsters and other shady things."

He said nothing and still refused to look at her, so she gently took his face in her hands and lifted it so she could look into his eyes. "I need you to be honest with me. Are you in danger?" Yoongi hesitated, but the smallest of nods rocked his head. She pulled back and sighed. "Maybe you should stay here. Just until this blows over."

"It's not gonna blow over, Victoria," he mumbled. "You're better off staying away from me, actually. I shouldn't have come here last night. I shouldn't have come here ever."

He moved to stand, but she stopped him. "What are you saying? You're safe here, Yoongi. My door is bolted shut. Just stay for a few days." She rubbed circles around his uninjured eye with her thumb and he closed his eyes, leaning into her touch.

"Are you sure?" he asked finally.

Victoria smiled and moved her hand up to run her fingers through his hair. He lowered his head to rest it on her shoulder as she began massaging his scalp lightly. He sighed, placing both hands on either side of her waist. "Dammit..."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong. Nothing's wrong..."

They sat that way for a while. Yoongi was in heaven as she touched him, comforting him the way nobody else had. He was kicking himself, but it just felt so good. It felt like she wanted him and she loved him and he was falling fast. Of course, he considered that by staying with her they would both be in danger. But she was so worried and he couldn't just leave her in the dark.

He knew the dangers, but even still he found himself agreeing to her offer. Though he said he had to go to his apartment to get a few things like clothes and his dog. They stood by the front door of the shop, surrounded by candles and the ever-persistent sound of rain outside. Yoongi had already put his black jacket on and was pulling the hood up.

Victoria was smoothing the fabric down with a concerned look on her face. "Be careful. Please."

He reached over to run his thumb along her bottom lip. "Promise." She shuffled into his arms and pressed her face to the crook of his neck. Yoongi stiffened, surprised by the gesture. "Vic, come on. I won't be gone for long." But she didn't let go, only wrapping her arms around him tightly. "Aish..." He didn't want her to know that he had been wanting to hug her for a while, but he still found himself pressing a hand to the back of her head, the other arm wrapped securely around her back while he touched his forehead to her shoulder.

They didn't let go for a long time. Yoongi never wanted to let go, but the sooner he left, the sooner he could come back. He carefully smoothed a hand over her hair before pulling away. "I'll be back soon, okay?" He nudged her chin affectionately, the memory of her smile burned into his brain as he walked out into the rain.
