Saturn pushed the door open quietly and slunk inside, stopping it from slamming shut with her tail.  Her parents weren't there to greet her or ask her where she'd been—she hadn't expected any sort of welcome, though.  She went straight to her room and closed the door behind her, throwing herself onto her bed.  And then there was a knock on the door, and the sounds of her mother answering it. And then, with a jolt of fear, she recognized the voice of Principal Nightseer.

A few minutes passed, and then Saturn's door opened, and Agility strode in, her face set in a firm glare.

"Saturn," Agility said sternly. "Your principal just came by. Said you got into a fight today."

Saturn ducked her head. "Th-that's true, Mother."

"Whatever could have provoked such a conundrum?" Agility squawked, using long, fancy-shmancy words as usual. "We are noble dragons. We do not start fights."

"Maybe you don't," Saturn replied defiantly. "But when I see a dragon being bullied, I think the most noble thing to do is step in."

"What dragon?" Agility snapped, her eyes suddenly cold. "It wasn't that poisoned white scrap, was it? I've warned you plenty enough to stay away from that... that... thing!"

"She's not a thing!" Saturn shouted. "She's a dragon! With a name! And a family! And feelings! Why does everyone have to treat her so terribly??"

"Saturn," Agility growled. "Don't tell me you've spoken to the creature."

"I know her quite well," Saturn replied, mocking Agility's fancy way of speaking. "She's a very good friend. In fact, I just came from her house."

Agility glared, stunned, for another moment, before whirling and leaving the room. With a sigh, Saturn sank back into her scratchy blankets. She'd never stood up to her mother before.

Maybe I never had something to stand for before I met... her.

Three moons, Saturn thought, her heart quickening as she came to realization. Am I... am I in love with Star??
