Sorry, this isn't a oneshot, but someone has asked me to give you all a detailed explanation of why I hate this ship. Please do not start an argument, if you don't agree with me, just accept my opinion and please don't start a winterwatcher hate club and gang up on me. I'm tired of being attacked okay?

Also, If you aren't interested, you are not obliged to read this :)

So here we go.

At the very beginning, I did kind of ship moonbli. I thought Winter was kind of a jerk.

Then when I read Winters book, I began to see the inner turmoil that he was going through. Then I went back and read Moonwatchers book again, and I could see how utterly confusing the whole thing was for them, and I sort of fell in love with the ship.

It just seems like one of the only actually realistic ships in the series.

Unless you are extremely lucky, you aren't going to enter a relationship where there is no arguments or miscommunications, misunderstandings or conflict.

And that's okay because after that, each time you move past a new obstacle in your relationship, you can both grow.

I could see that Winter and Moon being together would help grow both their characters, and as a writer I really love character development. Winter grew so much over the second arch, and I know he could have grown even more with Moon.

How ever, I guess you sort of need  . . . you know, proper flaws in order to grow, and that's what Qibli didn't have. He was nice. He was funny. He was smart. He had an easy time getting people to like him. From Moon Rising to Darkness of Dragons I saw only the minuscule amount of change in his character, and believe me, I looked.

He and Moon get along perfectly fine, and that gets sooo boring. It's not realistic.

People often hate after Winter because he was "so mean to Moon"

Yeah he was, I don't think many Winterwatcher shippers try to deny this.

However, if you are going to be that way, you need to at least first take into account why he was mean to her.

Was he mean to her because he didn't like her?

No

Was he mean to her because she was better than him at something?

No

When you're raised a certain way, it's hard to just suddenly change the beliefs you grew up with. Winter was raised to hate Nightwings. From the time he hatched to when he left for Jade mountain.

He was raised to believe that he had a reason to hate them.

I'm pretty sure that if I thought Nightwings had killed my brother, I would hate them all as well.

So it's not fair to hate him for that. Besides, now he definitely does not hate them. He let go of the past, and stopped hating them for all the bad things they did to his tribe, why can't you let go of what he said or did in the past?

There's also the fact that he was experiencing falling in love with someone. That can be the most terrifying experience, believe me I've been in it.

Especially if you know your parents would not allow it.

You will do anything you can to try and deny these feelings, or make them go away. And sometimes, you do that by chasing the person you have feelings for away.

I'm not saying that's a fine thing to do, but I am saying that I get it. I get how it feels so I understand why he tried to push Moon away.

Any way.

Qibli was not raised to hate Nightwings, so he had an unfair advantage in that area. Sure, he had a hard life at the start, but then he was taken away by Thorn and no doubt treated with a lot of care and tenderness.

Winter didn't get that.

He was raised without care or affection.

He was trained to do as he was commanded to do or be punished.

Of course he's rough along the edges.

Now for the real reasons that I hate Moonbli.

I really feel like Tui rushed into their relationship. They barely had any "moments' and next thing you know they're a lovey dovey couple heading off to a new continent.

Winter and Moon had moments. Not a lot but I found all of them very deep, and they revealed a lot.

I also think that Moon should have waited to make her decision for when everything as over so she could spend some time with both of them and see how they were with out impending battle stress.

When Winter left in his book to bring Hailstorm back, yes he yelled at her, but he did that to push her away. He needed to help his brother, and he couldn't have her braking that resolve.

It's actually kind of funny how Moon could read his mind before, but still didn't understand what he was going through.

Then in D.o.D when they got into another argument, once again, it was Winter trying to choose between family and friends. That's a really tough thing to experience.

Winter knew that Darkstalker was destroying his tribe, and Moon was still aligned with Darkstalker. Imagine how Betrayed Winter felt when he found out that Moon was never under a spell but actually was friends with the dragon who was threatening to wipe out Winters entire tribe and his family.

Then at the battle of Jade mountain, Winter fought with his tribe, despite the fact that Moon asked him not to.

It was his family.

He could see that his family was being attacked by the Nightwings.

And they had super powers.

Qibli didn't fight, of course not. The battle wasn't between the SandWings and the NightWings, once again, he didn't have to choose between anyone, and was seen as the good guy.

But I'm sure that if it had been SandWings Vs Nightwings, and Thorn had asked Qibli to fight along side her, he would have.

So yeah. I get really annoyed about how lucky Qibli was in all of these situations.

I hope this makes sense, I don't mean to offend anyone with this, once again, please do not start an argument here, I'm really NOT in the mood for one.

Hope you at least sort of enjoyed :)
