Duskcaller Pov

I fly over the mountains, scanning each and every cave I see, but still no luck. The night sky above me began to lighten up. I fly down to a ledge by a cave. I have to sleep, my wings ache and my legs can barely hold me up anymore. I fall to the ground. My body aching more. I look at the scale around my neck.

"Where are you Moonlight. I need to find you....." I say as my eyes start to close. I can't ignore the urge to sleep anymore. I should have taken more breaks than I did.

Moonlight Pov

The next morning was quiet. For some reason, the birds were not chirping like they usually do. I stood and exit the cave. I stretch my wings and look out at the sunrise. But on the ledge, there was a black, dark purple and white mass. I step closer and saw a nightwing. My eyes grew wide.

"Duskcaller...." I say in a whisper. Why was the queen's son here!? I notice my scale on a necklace around his neck. Why does he have my scale? I back up toward the cave. Has he possibly come to kill me for sneaking around the castle? I walk back into the cave and find Wildfire waking up.

"Moonlight why do you look so pale?" He asks. I looked back outside the cave and point. Wildfire stood and starts to walk out. I follow him. "A nightwing? Why are you so scared of him?"

"This is not just any nightwing. This is Queen Starcaller's son, Duskcaller. He is a very skilled assassin. He has the scale I lost around his neck. I think he is here to kill me!" I tell him. Wildfire stares down at him.

"He looks exhausted though. If he was here to kill you, I believe he would try to be rested. It looks like he just collapsed too." He said. I look again at Duskcaller and saw him lying on his side. I nod.

"So what should we do with him?" I ask. Wildfire walks over and pokes Duskcaller's cheek. There was no response.

"We should take him inside. We wouldn't want a BDL scout to find him and kill him." He said as he grabs Duskcaller's arms. He began to pull the black dragon into the cave. Once we got him inside, we lay him near the wall. Wildfire lit the fire in the middle of the cave. I lay by the fire wondering why Duskcaller is here.

Soon the others began to wake up. They all wonder about the unconscious dragon. I just told them to wait and leave him be. I stand and stretch before walking over to the dark corner of the cave. I decided to disappear before he wakes up. Wildfire and Scorpion go out to hunt for everyone. I stay in the darkness. Anaconda and Delta were telling jokes to each other and Typhoon was telling Moonglare more about everyone and what we know about the BDL. Moonglare even had a little more info to add on to what we know.

About an hour later, Wildfire and Scorpion return. They brought back a few mountain goats and boars. Enough for everyone. I took a boar over to my dark corner and ate. After everyone else got what they wanted, there was a goat left for Duskcaller. Everyone has now settled down, but something was stirring in the cave. I look over at Duskcaller, he was beginning to move. Everyone stopped and looked at him.

"Oh my head. Next time I'm going to take more breaks." He says as he sits up, rubbing his head. He looks around at everyone then stands up quickly.

"You can calm down. Here is a goat for you." Wildfire said as he pushes the goat toward him. He pulls the goat close to him and lies back down.

"You were lucky one of our tribe members found you this morning." Typhoon said. Duskcaller looks toward him.

"Thank you. I'm grateful that you brought me in here." He said as he bows to them. Wildfire stood and walks over to him.

"There is no need for thanks. We just didn't want to have a dragon murdered outside our cave. There are many BDL scouts around here." Wildfire said.

"I still want to thank the one who found me. Which one of you was it?" He asks. Everyone looks at each other but never looked back at me.

"She is out hunting right now. For now you should rest." Typhoon said.

"Why don't you tell us your name?" Delta asks. He looks at her, some kind of oh my look shown in his eye.

"I'm Duskcaller, the son of the nightwing Queen Starcaller. May I ask who you and your tribe are?" He replied.

"Our tribe is called the Wingless. We are a group of abandoned, orphaned, runaway and outcast dragons. I'm Wildfire the leader. Typhoon is a seawing that I've known my whole life. I was abandoned and he was orphaned. We have Delta the mudwing and Anaconda the rainwing. Both we believe to be abandoned as well. We have Scorpion a sandwing. He was outcast from his tribe. We have Moonglare, a night sandwing who was abandoned." He said as he introduces everyone.

"Who is the one who found me?" Duskcaller asks. Wildfire looks back at everyone.

"Before we answer, what were you doing out here?" Scorpion asks. Duskcaller looks at him.

"I'm looking for a nightwing named Moonlight. The queen wants to speak to her. I've been looking for days. This is one of her scales. Have you seen her." Duskcaller said as he shows everyone the scale.

"Why does the queen want to see her?" Typhoon asks, his scales glowing with curiosity.

"She may be a dragon of the crimson prophecy. We also haven't found the sandwing or mudwing. Have you seen any dragon with some kind of crimson? The sandwing should have a crimson barb, the mudwing has some kind of crimson scales and Moonlight should have crimson scales under her wings." Duskcaller explained. Delta looked down at her crimson scales. Scorpion looked back at his barb. I can't help but to think about my scales. Wildfire looks back at me. I focus on his mind.

-Just come out Moonlight. It seems he isn't here to kill you.- he moves his head in a come out kind of manner. I sigh and stand. Wildfire turns back toward Duskcaller.

"Now let me introduce our final tribe member. She is a nightwing. Moonlight please come out." Wildfire said. I walk into the light. Duskcaller looks over at me, a shine in his eyes.

"Hello Duskcaller. I'm the one who found you outside." I told him. He stood. He seemed speechless. He shook himself a bit.

"May I see the scales under your wings." He asks. I unfold my left wing, showing him my crimson scales. "So it is you. You are the nightwing in the prophecy."

"You may have found your mudwing and sandwing too." I say. Scorpion and Delta stood. Scorpion shows Duskcaller his barb. Delta shows him her scales too.

"Oh my! My mother will be pleased. We must get you three to the nightwing kingdom immediately." Duskcaller said. I look down at the fire.

"I don't want to.....I'm afraid my mother will..." I say but stop.

"Don't worry. Mother had sent guards after Destruction. She may be in custody now.....or out here looking for you. My mother will make sure she won't hurt you." Duskcaller said. I look at him then at the others.

"I'll go as long as the tribe can come." Delta said. Duskcaller nods. That makes me feel better.

"Then we shall leave tomorrow. It's getting late and we won't be able to see any BDL scouts if they are out." Wildfire said. Everyone nods. Delta goes to lie down in between Typhoon and Anaconda. Scorpion took his place in the corner of the cave. He usually sleeps away from the others so he doesn't accidentally sting them. Wildfire lies down by Typhoon. Moonglare lays on my right and Duskcaller walks over to my left.

"Mind if I sleep beside you?" He asks. I smile at him and nod. He is pretty handsome, wait! What am I thinking! He is a prince....he can find someone better. "I wouldn't think too much. Just saying." He chuckles as he lies down. Hm.....that's it! He can read minds! Which means he must have heard me? I decide to focus on his mind.

-I never thought Moonlight would be this cute! And she may even like me. So many tried to get me to notice them, but Moonlight is the one I'm aiming for now!- Wow......he likes me and ignored others...I should just go to sleep. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.

Starcaller Pov

I look up at the moons, a bad feeling rising up. I was alone in my cave, looking through the opening. I felt a presence appear behind me.

"You know the disappearances are partially their doing. But I feel like it also has to do with the BDL." A female voice said.

"I know. I feel it too, but it's hard to tell. For now we wait and see what will happen. If we act now....both of us will completely vanish. So please Moonwish.....don't do anything. I don't want to lose you again." I say. I turn to face her. Her body barely visible.

"For you sister, I will stay. I'll see you later Starcaller." Moonwish said as she vanishes. I sigh as I look up the moons. It's sad that she was killed by the BDL only a few years ago, but I'm glad she is still around. I haven't told Duskcaller though. He should know soon. Moonwish isn't completely herself of course. Her physical body is gone. She is what we call a Spiritwing.

Spiritwings are not seen often. But not every dragon becomes one. Only a few come back and some can gain special powers. My sister was lucky and she can now control fire with her mind, but only slightly. Most prefer to hide themselves. But they are always with the ones they love. My sister decided to show me her existence. She has helped me put together a scroll on Spiritwings too. But for now, that scroll is staying in my private library.

I go over to my bed and lay down. Hurry home Duskcaller, I don't want you to get hurt like Moonwish. She was just like you, a great assassin who was out trying to find the BDL base. That's when she was killed. So please don't stay out any longer than you need to. I look once again at the moons as I fall asleep.

Moonwish Pov

I wonder around the castle. I can't sleep anymore so I usually try to entertain myself. I wonder if I should try to scare someone tonight? I find a room with two sleeping guards. Maybe I shouldn't scare them....they might overreact. I leave the castle and just wonder outside. I notice a dragon sneaking around. I make sure I'm completely invisible and follow the dragon. The dragon moves through the shadows, but not as good as a trained assassin. As I look more closely, the dragon looks like Destruction. I thought she left the kingdom?

She made her way through the forest and stops right on the edge on the mountains. Another dragon lands in front of her, a sandwing. The sandwing had black diamonds on its pale yellow scales. It was covered in scars and maybe fresh wounds? I silently observer them.

"So how are things going?" Destruction asks the sandwing.

"So far we finally captured our main target. She was very difficult to find and catch, but we got her." A male voice said.

"So we now have complete control over them, right Diamondback?" Destruction asks. The sandwing nods. "Finally! Our plans can move forward!" Destruction moves closer to Diamondback and nuzzles his snout.

"Are you coming back with me?" He asks. She shakes her head.

"No. I got to go find my wretched daughter. I guess she is part of the prophecy to stop us. Or so the Queen thinks." Destruction replies. Diamondback nods.

"Alright. Come back to the cave when you are done. I'll even let you take him with you." Diamondback said as he points behind him. A black, grey and red dragon lands behind him. It's a dragon I've never seen before. Its appearance is like a mix of a nighwing and maybe a skywing. But this isn't a crossbreed. This must be something else. Could this be....that ancient species that disappeared over five thousand years ago? That's what it must be. Diamondback takes off and leaves the two dragons behind.

"Your name." Destruction demands. The dragon glares at her with it beady red eyes.

"I'm known as Puncture." A male voice said. He sighs after.

"Good. Follow me. We are going to find my daughter." Destruction said and grins. The two take off to the skies. Once they are out of sight, I rush back to the castle. I run into my sister's private library and write down what I just witnessed. I keep writing until the sun rises. I then run to my sister's cave and wait for her to wake.

Starcaller Pov

I wake up the next morning. Moonwish was right in front of me which causes me to jump out of my bed.

"Please Moonwish, don't ever do that." I say as my heart rate returns to normal. I notice that her body isn't completely steady. Her aura is the color of a mix of red and purple. So she is angry and anxious.

"Sorry. Just come with me to your library." She said as she ran out of my cave. I stand and stretch. I causally leave my cave and head for my library. I don't want to alert the guards. I walk into the library and see Moonwish with a scroll in her talons. "Read this. This is what I witnessed last night."

I took the scroll from her and began to read it. I was a bit shocked. The ancient race still exists today and they may be working with the enemy. If Destruction and this Diamondback is part of the BDL. But that's still unconfirmed.

"I didn't know they still exists. Seeing one in front of me.....it was very scary." Moonwish said. I look at her, her aura turning a pale yellow color. So she really is scared of them. I put the scroll down and walk over to my other scrolls. I pick up the one on the ancient species.

"It seems they still do exist today. They must have been hiding all this time. For over five thousand years they have hid. I wonder why they hid though." I say. Moonwish glides over. I look at her and see she is calm, her mist aura completely gone.

"Maybe they foresaw the war of the three sandwing princesses." She says.

"That's possible. A good way to stay out of a war is disappearing four thousand years before it starts." I say. Moonwish nods. I look down at the scroll in my talons. "Yes...the Bloodwings are reappearing......but why? Why would they come out of hiding?"

"Well Diamondback said something about capturing a female target.....maybe the target was the Bloodwing princess?" Moonwish said.

"Or they maybe even captured their queen." I say. She looks toward the ground. I place the scroll back with the others. "Let's hope we are wrong..."

Moonwish disappears and I walk to the throne room. I lie down and hope Duskcaller comes home soon.

??? Pov

I dig my talons into the rock as I sneak around my rocky home. I look down in a common cavern, but I see so many unfamiliar black dragons. They look like the seven surface tribes. I hiss silently and crawl to a tunnel. I make my way to the royal cavern to find my mother. But all I find are more black dragons. There was a pale yellow dragon standing in front of my mother, who was bound by chains and blindfolded.

"Now that we have the queen, we have total control." The pale yellow dragon said. He looks around. "Now find the princess. We need to capture her too. Spread out and find her!"

Oh no! I got to leave quickly. I crawl over to a dark cave in the ceiling leading up to another cave system. I quickly crawl up and hear wingbeats behind me.

"There she is!" A black dragon said. I let go of the wall and begin to flap my wings hard to get flying. I quickly fly up the tunnel and soon see this tunnels exit. I'm almost to the tunnel that leaves the mountains.

"Ah!" I yell. I look back and see a black dragon, it was biting and grabbing onto my left front leg with its talons. Where did this dragon come from!? I kicked it with my back ridged talons. It screeched and let me go. I fly into the final tunnel and see a dark exit ahead. I fly out into the cool night air. Stars filled the dark blue skies. I look back to make sure no one followed me.

"Where can I go? I know nothing about the world up here..." I say. I look at the mountains behind me. I fly up, maybe I can find a cave and a dead end to hide in. I land on a ledge and look out over the landscape below. I kept my left limb from touching anything as I walk into the cave. I step around some odd rocks and rest in the corner. My eyes were heavy and I can barely stay awake any more. I let sleep take over.

Moonlight Pov

I wake up first like always. Something seems off though. I look around the cave but see nothing out of the ordinary. I look down and see blood drops. I quickly stand. No one was injured last night so where did the blood come from? I hear heavy breathing, not belonging to anyone I know. Duskcaller begins to stir beside me. He looks up at me.

"You seem spooked. What's wrong?" He whispers. I point at the blood. He looks then stands beside me. He walks toward the log pile and lights it. The cave instantly lit up. There were still some dark corners, but I could see the trail of blood leading to the other dark corner. The others began to wake from the light. Duskcaller got them all to stay quiet while I follow the trail of blood from the entrance to the dark corner. Wildfire was behind me. In the dim light, I saw the tip of a black, red and white tail. It's not the BDL thankfully. Typhoon came over and lit up his pale blue scales. The dark corner was more visible now. There was a very strange looking dragon curled up, sleeping. The left front limb was bleeding from multiple wounds. The dragon began to stir. Its eyes opens, completely black with only red pupils. It looks at us then it stands quickly, teeth bared.

"Who are you?!" A female voice growls at us.

"Just calm down. We won't hurt you unless you hurt us." Wildfire said. The dragon looks at him then calms down. "Now tell us what's your name."

"Bloodmoon. The Bloodwing princess." She replies. I look at her. No wonder she looks so odd. She is a new species of dragon?

"Please explain to us, what is a Bloodwing? We have never heard of them." Duskcaller said.

"We are an ancient species. We lived alongside the seven tribes thousands of years ago. One of our animus foresaw a great war, so we hid under the mountains. We were going to stay until these black dragons began to invade the caves and caverns." She explains.

"So the ancient race still lives? My mother will be shocked to hear that." Duskcaller said. No one is asking about her injuries so I step up.

"Where did you get your injuries from?" I ask. She looks down at her wounds.

"I was escaping. My mother was already caught and the black dragons were after me. I was close to the exit when one came up from under me and tried to bring me down. Luckily I got away." She said.

"We could help you patch it up back in the nightwing kingdom. We have excellent dragons skilled with medicine." Duskcaller said. She looks up at him. She nods slightly. She stands and walks over to the fire. Everyone was now up and heard our conversation. We know her, I say let's let her know us.

"I'm Moonlight. A nightwing." I introduce myself.

"I'm Anaconda the rainwing!" Anaconda said as he jumps up, changing his colors in excitement.

"I'm Delta, a mudwing." Delta said next.

"I am Typhoon, a seawing." Typhoon said as he lit his lights up.

"I'm Scorpion. A sandwing." Scorpion said as he came over to the fire.

"I am.... Moonglare. A hybrid of night and sandwing." Moonglare says next.

"I am Wildfire, skywing and leader of this tribe of dragons known as the Wingless." Wildfire said. Duskcaller steps toward her.

"I'm prince Duskcaller. A nightwing." Duskcaller said. She looks at him.

"So you can take me to a safe place?" Bloodmoon asks him. He nods.

"Of course. My mother protects those within her kingdom. So once you enter you will be protected." He said. She nods.

"Thank you..." She said as she lies down. She soon is in a deep sleep.

"Maybe we should stay here another day to let her rest. She did have a hard time." Wildfire said. Duskcaller nods.

"I'll go find some leaves with healing capabilities to put on her wounds. I will be back." Typhoon said.

"Take Scorpion with you incase BDL attacks." Wildfire said. Scorpion stands and follows Typhoon out.

"I wonder if the increase of BDL around here is due to them searching for her..." I say.

"Maybe. Let us try to stay hidden. So no one else leave today. The more that leave could bring unwanted guest back with them." Wildfire said. Everyone left nods in agreement.

Typhoon and Scorpion return with leaves in their talons. I watch as Typhoon grabs Bloodmoon's arm. Scorpion hands him leaves and Typhoon covers her arm.

"There that should do it." He said as he goes over to Anaconda and Delta. He lies down with them. He really is like a father to them. I wish I knew my father. Sadly he is dead, before I even hatched. I notice Duskcaller looking at me. I maybe should just stop thinking about things around him. I lay down by the fire. Duskcaller lies beside me.

"It's ok. I know how you feel. I never knew my father either." He said. I sigh and stare at the fire. Duskcaller fidgets with his necklace. I glance at my scale at the end of the necklace. My mind was what made me lose it, but my scale lead Duskcaller to find me. So I no longer mind losing my scale. Yes it will never grow back, but I'm fine with that because it's a scar left by him.
