The city had withdrawn into itself
when something small jumped from shelf to shelf,
or rather someone tiny and brave,
but who didn't always knew well how to behave

They collected crackers, chocolate and marmalade
and snuck in some cookies that were homemade

They grabbed some of the lights hanging around
and used them to lower themselves onto the ground

They snuck into the gifts that were wrapped under the tree
and went off with one skate as happy can be

They grabbed a desk fan and propelled themselves away,
just before the crack of dawn the very next day
