Magical properties may enable them to move or make sounds, but the great majority of plants are not sentient. The rare sentient ones do not have pain sensors, so their leaves and flowers can be removed for use in spells and soups. If they let you, that is. They may require you to pass a test of their choosing in exchange for one of these rare items.
