Willow Park was a fairly normal girl. She had parents, a home, and a hobby. She had a bit of a green thumb, taking care of plants and hoping to be a Gardner or green house owner in the future.

Her fathers supported her all the way. They were strict, but kind. They loved her, but disciplined her. They had rules, but never made sure she followed them perfectly.

She had a great life, and was even friends with another kid at her school named Gus, who was much like his father, a reporter on the news...the only downside of being Willow Park?

She was seen as a bit of a typical 'nerd' or 'geek'. Normally? People didn't mind or take much notice. Others just wanted to see her sad...such as someone named Boscha, a girl who wanted nothing but popularity and attention. Willow was often her main target.

But, Willow knew fighting back just wouldn't do anything. She was smart enough to realize that punching her, no matter how hard she wanted too, would just make everyone see HER as the bully instead of Boscha.

Or maybe not. To be frank, no one really liked Boscha. Not even her own 'friends'.

So, it was just a normal day at school. Willow listened to her own footsteps before slightly turning up her music on her headphones.

"Hey, Willow!" A friendly voice said. Willow took off her headphones and then smiled. "Hey, Gus! How's the theories coming along?"

"Uhh, still nothing. Dad's a little suspicious himself, but we're making progress on that giant snake and mysterious lady! I can feel it!" Gus said with a determined smirk.

Willow laughed. "I have no doubt one day, we'll find out. I'll see you next hour!"

"Cya then!" Gus said as he ran off to class.

Willow smiled again before walking into her class and sitting down after setting her backpack and various other things in her locker. It usually took about 5 minutes or so until class actually started, so she took that time to doodle. Mostly plant life she saw while walking to school.

Then, as she got to shading, the bell rang and Willow looked up.

"Alright class, now before we begin, we have a new student!" The teacher said before a girl walked in.

Light brown skin, dark brown hair. Red winter hat over their head (since hats were allowed in school in this day and age), and purple and white striped shirt. Black pants, and then finally a green jacket.

"Hello!" Luz said with a smile.

"Hello." The students all replied. Some either not paying attention or some actually wanting to get to know Luz.

"This is Luz Noceda. Please treat her with respect, it's her first day." The teacher said with a nod before looking at Luz. "Alright, Luz. You can take a seat next to Willow over there."

Luz nodded before walking over and then sitting next to Willow, giving a kind wave and small smile.

Willow smiled back and waved back as well. She could tell, even with the smile, Luz was a little nervous. She found it helpful to be the kind voice in someone's life when they're nervous.

"Alright, everyone. Now if you remember where we were last, we were discussing World War II. Does anyone know what dragged the United States into the war? What the breaking point was?"

As a student raised their hand and answered, Luz saw Willow's doodle and was a little fascinated, but she didn't want to seem rude.

Willow did notice though and smiled. "My drawing skills are a little shabby."

"I really like it." Luz whispered. "I know I was just introduced, but I'm Luz."

"Willow." Willow greeted with a whisper before they redirected their attention to the class.

After a while, a group assignment started. Everyone was partnered with who they were sitting next too.

"So, what should we research?" Willow asked, grabbing her laptop.

"Well...uhhh...ummm..." Luz then chuckled, already feeling like she was failing.

"No idea, huh?" Willow giggled. "Don't worry, I'm sure we can think of something."

"Yeah, I'm not really familiar with World Wars." Luz said. "Or wars in general."

"Wait, really?" Willow asked as she typed for examples. "Did your schools not teach history?"

"No, no, no! I was homeschooled! I just had, uhh, very different history!" She replied.

Very different history was a huge understatement for Luz. Covens, monsters, and evil megalomaniacs.

"Ohhh! What kind?" Willow asked curiously.

"Ummm, my mother was born out of state. She was Spanish, so we learned more about their history. And not really America's."

"Oh! Wow! So can you speak Spanish? Not to sound rude or racist." Willow said, raising her hands with a kind smile.

"No offense taken, and a little!" Luz said. She wasn't lying about that part. Since her mother named her a Spanish name, Luz remembered fondly that Spanish had become her and her mother's second language. Wild Witches were familiar with Earth. At least somewhat.

"Oh, alright!" Willow said before the two began to work. And the two talked for a bit, all the while trying not to get distracted.

And finally, the bell rang and it was off to the next class. Luz and Willow packed their things.

"What class do you have after this?" Willow asked. "You seem like a really nice person, Luz!"

"Oh! Thanks! You seem like a great girl too-" Luz then quickly dodged something that hit the wall. "WHAT WAS THAT. A TINY...THING!"

Willow sighed as she picked it up and then flicked it off. "Spitball. Gross." She then looked at a purple-pinkish haired girl.

The girl smirked a wicked smirk at Willow before leaving the class.

Luz automatically didn't trust that girl. "Lemme guess. They fired that?"

"That's Boscha for ya. The classic stereotype of 'popular girl'." Willow said with air quotes. "But she's not popular. She's just an athlete with no respect for anyone. Not even her own friends."

"Ohhhh, she's gonna get it." Luz said, raising her fists, but Willow lowered them.

"I just ignore her. Fighting doesn't solve anything." Willow then walked out with Luz. "Besides, she's not worth anyone's time. She's just a spoiled brat."

Luz smiled. "That's smart. I'll cya later maybe?"

"I'd like that!" Willow smiled before shaking Luz's hand. "Consider us friends!"

"W-Wait, really?!" Luz exclaimed.

"Yeah! I-I mean...if you wanna be."

"Heck yeah! I didn't expect to make friends on the first day!" Luz laughed. "I'll see you at lunch!"

"Cya then!" Willow said with a wave as she left.

Luz smiled and felt a huge wave of relief wash over her. Maybe school wouldn't be so bad.

At lunch, Willow waved Luz over from the long line. Luz smiled and sat down, gently setting her tray. "Hey, Willow!"

"Hey, Luz!" Willow smiled. "Oh! I want you to meet someone. This is Gus!"

Gus heard his name being called and looked up from his phone. "Oh! Hey! You must be Luz!"

"The one and only." Luz laughed. "It's nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you too!" Gus smiled. "So, question."

"Wait, Gus-"

"What are your thoughts on that giant snake attack a week ago?" Gus asked.

Willow laughed nervously. "Ummm, Luz, sorry. We're kind of weird-"

"Nah, no worries! Being normal is lame." Luz said. "And as for the giant snake? I was, well, rather shocked! Maybe a hologram or something?"

"Nope! The destruction is real. It's STILL trending all over the world! I mean, it's mind blowing!" Gus exclaimed.

Luz blinked. "W-Wow...all over the world?"

"Yeah! I mean, it's a giant snake. It's only something you see in fantasy!" Willow smiled. "And not to mention, the whole superhero thing."

"Super...hero?" Luz asked, titling her head.

"The person who fought the snake off!" Gus said, showing a blurry image of The Witch. "I mean. Colorful suit, powers, and cape. That's a superhero."

"I've...never heard of that." Luz said.

Willow was a little surprised. "You haven't? Like really? How much was homeschool isolating?"

'THINKOFALIE.' Luz's mind screamed. "Uhhh, well! It only taught me important things! I'm now with my step mom, Eda! She has a lot more recent things, so I'm still learning."

"Wait? Step mom?" Gus asked. "Sorry if that's personal."

Luz just shrugged. "No worries. But yeah, my mom...uhh...is in a...n-nevermind. But I've been staying with Eda ever since-"

Then, something hit Luz in the back of the head. Something small, but fast. "OW!"

"Ohhhh, no." Gus said as he turned around and then groaned, facing Willow. "Boscha."

"Oh, no! Luz, I am so sorry!" Willow said as she helped remove the spitball from Luz's neck. "Boscha is most likely after you because you're with us."

Luz growled. "She can try all she likes. Karma will get what's coming to her-" She then noticed something.

Another girl was talking to a teacher. They were wearing a long black shirt, purple pants, and wearing a necklace of some kind. But what caught Luz's attention was the girl's face. She had almost golden eyes and long light green hair, with brown showing at the top of her forehead, showing the green hair was dyed. Her face was porcelain almost.

Luz caught herself staring before she saw the adult the girl was talking too walk over to Boscha and tell her off, most likely for the spitball.

And then? Boscha was taken to the office, giving a glare at Luz and then the girl.

"Who...is that?" Luz asked, pointing at the girl, who walked back to her seat.

Willow looked. "Ami?"

"Oh! That's Amity Blight."
