In the city of Saunmen, right next to the city garden, under a tree stood a contracted pale man. His clothes are thin, but also dirty with overhanging positions wool. Shoes are also depreciated, and you can see his toes, wrapped with some cloth...

He is a laborer named Tyler, who is looking for a job. For many years he lived in Ketinhold. There he worked in a trains factory, saw lots of misery and disasters, he suffered a lot, but he had never suffered great famine. But last year, the crisis began: the lack of work. Thousands of laid-off workers appeared in the streets, some of them didn't have any relatives and acquaintances and couldn't find a shelter for themselves.

The factory fired many people, including Tyler, although he worked so long for that factory and put all of his strength and time into his job. Tyler found himself on the streets. At first, he couldn't understand what happened to him, he didn't know what to do. For two days he lied in his solid be curvatured: didn't eat anything, didn't go anywhere. At the third day he had to wake up: head was pounding, with sounds in his ears, and jumping red and green glittered spots in his eyes.

Tyler remembered that he had already spent two days without food. He bought in a pound of bread and a bit of sausage to eat, then he counted the money. Small - not enough. He understood that he needed to find a job if he didn't want to die from hunger. He had a relative-- a brother. His brother lived in a village, loaded with children, and he could hardly afford bread for himself. Tyler hasn't seen him for a long time. Didn't write as well.

Tyler walked through the whole city looking for job, but he wasn't accepted anywhere. The shoes were tattered and he had run out of money. Then he went to Klosh, he expected to win something there, but there was no work either. Many of the workers that were fired from the factory were starving for they had no money to buy food. For about two weeks Tyler walked through Klosh searching for job, but no one accepted him. Everywhere it was told that there are no job or that he's too weak... Then he remembered Saunmen where, he heard, there were lots of factories.

"I'll go there," Tyler decided. "Maybe I'll find something." He traveled to Saunmen on foot and by hiding in the train, because the last of his money was gone, and he couldn't afford a ticket. Finally he arrived... But there he heard the same answer: no need, we have lots of...

And here's hungry, tired and frozen Tyler came to Saunmen's garden. He curled under the tree, planning to spend the night here and to rest a bit.

It is a misty autumn evening. Dark night is approaching. The cold winter wind whistles and screams, carrying cold and rain that is going right through Tyler. On the black ground falls yellow leaves and on top of them small rain starts raining making some small grooves on the ground. Sad Tyler sunk at the fog, looked at the garden and listened. Garden was rustling, as he has already heard. . . It puts him one after another painful memories of life.

Here's he working in a factory for three years - young, healthy and strong as oak. He had a bright future and he was full of confidence to move forward. His desire was small: to work for a few years in a factory, save a bit of money and go back to village. There, buy a piece of land and start farming. And Tyler firmly believed in his dream. . .

But right in the work vehemence, when he was dreaming about the farm, the belt fell off from the machine and fastened his hand into other machine. Tyler screamed after he heard how his bones broke and fell unconscious. He woke up at the hospital. He spent seven months there. Doctors somehow remedied his hand and he was healed. But now he felt much weaker than he used to be.

After long begging factory finally accepted him back. The factory didn't pay for the injury. It even made sure to take triple from him by whatever punishment for the money which has been given for the treatment. The work was same and hard. Throughout the day he had to stand in one place and couldn't sit down nor step back. Every second week he had to work at nights. Earnings were average., but he had to give bribes for their supervisors, and sometimes he had money only to live from hand to mouth. And, here, Tyler married a girl and they had a child. It became even harder. He forgot the dream about the farm - saw that the factory would be hard to leave, that he'd have to work there till he died. That tortured Tyler and he was still attracted to the village, although there he has seen only misery. . .

And only when Tyler came back from work he settled down looking at his little son. But that child survived only a year, as he got sick and died. It became much blander, and the wife at home alone. . . Without occupation. . . Finally, she got a job in a factory. After about three years from their child's death, Tyler and his wife has calmed down, but then another disaster occurred. Tyler's wife died because of tuberculosis. Tyler stayed one as a stick. During the first year after his wife's death he even began to drink, but then dropped it. But his life was unpleasant. He had no family and he rarely spoke with his friends or relatives. Then began a strike and crisis... Many went to jail, many were left without a job... And here's he standing in a foreign city, in hedges, and trying to get warmer as wet rain goes through his thin clothes and tries to kill his tired joints...

Tyler looked at the bare garden and listened. In the rustle of trees and in the whistle of wind he hears voices of laborers in the streets. As if poor consumption and a poor child's cry-- as if the echo of those who drowned in distress and accidents-- killed their youth, strength and health, donating it to their employers.

As the yellow leaves die, poor brothers and sisters --blackened from hunger-- overcame the disease early. And the poor tears fall on tombs of their brothers and sisters as the rain falls on those yellow leaves. . . If the tears gathered, they would become a full river which could wash all the woes and disasters of the poor. But, scattered throughout, they dried invisible. . .

It is what Tyler thought. The dark autumn night extended her black wings and covered with them the sky, the city and the garden. . . In the streets were the lamps, but where Tyler lied it was still dark. Tyler was shaking from humidity and cold, but he had nowhere to go, and didn't want to go anywhere. He found a stone under a tree and sat down on it in order to give his legs a bit of rest.

'Where will I go now?' Tyler thinks 'At least I would have a friend or acquaintance with whom I could speak. . . At least I would care so much about hunger and future. . . Now there is no one who will mention or remember me. . . And to whom am I needed? I have no family. . . I am weak. . . And why should I look for job? Or incorrectly compete with others? I believe that workers will have a bright future, but they will have to fight for it. . . I've lived enough, only to help my employer. . . And that's why he turned me into a beggar. . . And now I have to beg for help? No! Never! Enough begging for the mercy of riches. At least I can die free. . .'

Tyler, though sad, was calm. He started to think about the idea he just got. Soon, he comes to the desire to die. To not feel his abominable life and troubles that has tortured him forever. He just wanted to sleep and to not feel neither cold nor creepy humidity... He remembers the village in which he has served many years ago. And there's no easier. And there poor people are all scorned and humiliated. . .

Tyler sat on the rock and thought. . . the possibility of God or afterlife, but there he suddenly stands up, puts one leg on the rock and starts searching for something over his head. His right hand grabs a thick birch branch.

"Good. Maitain." He says loudly and jumps off the rock. 'So what?' He thinks, 'It's already night, everyone are preparing to sleep, I need to get my bed ready as well. After all, tonight I'll be the happiest. . .'

Suddenly he wants to eat. He remembers that he still has a bit of bread in his pocket. 'I'll eat the last dinner as well' Tyler scales. He sits down on a rock, breaks bread and eats. But soon he rancid food - the urge to eat passes. Tyler puts bread back to his pocket and quickly stands up. He grabs the rope and slips because of rushing. Deeply breathing, he climbs on a rock again and ties the rope onto the branch. He thinks about only one thing. . . The noose is ready. Tyler inserts his head into the loop and jumps off the rock.

Jumping red and green glittered dots block his eyesight, but suddenly everything disappears. It becomes dark. All of his thoughts, feelings and troubles fall asleep in his body. Only murmurs and howls, north wind swaying Tyler, sadly falling drizzle rain washes Tyler's face and yellow leaves fall on Tyler as if they're trying to blanket his body. . .
