Moon

Qibli and Winter fussed all the way to the gymnasium.

When I asked them why, they got all nervous for some reason and said it was 'boy stuff' and kept going. 

Kinkajou told me to ignore them, and that Turtle was the most sophisticated boy in the universe.

We entered the room, and found Carnelian standing there. 

"Well hello." She said. "Long time no see eh?"

"Oh, push off Carnelian." Winter said. 

"Don't talk back mister." Carnelian said, narrowing her eyes.

"Let us pass Carnelian." I said. "I promise you that you won't regret doing it."

Carnelian arched her eyebrows. "Oh really?"

"really." I confirmed. 

Carnelian snorted. "Just this one time Winter. You hear me?" Then she marched off.

Winter grinned. "You just made Carnelian back off." He said. "Nice."

"Thank you." I said, smiling. Our gym teacher, Kestrel, was shouting something at Clay, who was eating a cookie and trying to hide it. 

Glory and Tsunami began to shout at Kestrel as well, and Webs and Dune came forward to defend their  friend. Then, Morrowseer loomed in the entrance. "What is going on here?" the principal boomed. 

"Nothing father." I spoke up, for Glory and the other's sake. "We were going to get ready."

Her father looked down at her. "OH." He boomed. 

Glory and the others gave her a thankful look. 

"NO, not just NOTHING." Kestrel spoke up. "THESE kids were arguing with me." She gestured to Tsunami and Glory. 

Tsunami glared at her. 

"Oh no, don't blame them." Moon's mother Secretkeeper grasped Morrowseer's hand. "They were defending a friend."

Morrowseer glared at her. "Fine. I will listen to my Secretkeeper and Moonwatcher."

"Moon." I said patiently. 

Father glowered for a moment but then stomped out. 

Glory smiled. "Thank you Moon."

"No problem!" I said, grinning back. 

We got into line, led by a fuming Kestrel. "Today we will be playing dogeball." She huffed. "I will give each of you either a one, or a two. If you get a one, go to the left side, and if you get a two, go to the right." She started clapping people on the back with a 'one' or a 'two'.

I got a one, Winter got a two, Qibli got a one, Kinkajou got a two, and Turtle got a one. 

"Whee!" Kinkajou cried, thumping Winter on the back. "We're on a team!"

Winter eyerolled, but he followed Kinkajou to the right side of the gym. 

Qibli led me and Turtle to the opposite side, and they were greeted by the rest of their team.

There was Ostrich, who nearly choked Qibli with a hug, Pike, Sora, Umber, and Glory.

So that meant Carnelian, Sunny, Anemone, Boto, Marsh, Tsunami, Clay, and Startflight were on the other team. 

Glory stuck her tongue out at her little sister, and Kinkajou made a face back. 

"ALRIGHT PEOPLE LISTEN UP." Kestrel bellowed, making Webs and Dune leap back. "FIRST TEAM TO GET ALL THE PEOPLE OUT WINS! READY SET STAAAART"

I grabbed a black ball and hurtled it across to hit Carnelian in the shoulder. She glared at me, and went to go sit on the bleachers. 

"Hey! You are on a roll today! Scaring off Carnelian!" Qibli said, chucking a ball to hit Boto in the face. He blinked and went to go join Carnelian. 

Two out.

Winter and Kinkajou both had a ball, and they both got Umber out. Umber spat furiously and went to go sit down. 

This went on for quite sometime, until finally, Qibli was struck out. 

He looked sad, and made Turtle and me to try and win for our team.  

We promised.

Winter and Kinkajou stood in front of us, grinning. 

"We are going to win Moon!" Winter said.

"Not a chance." I said, and lightly hit him with a ball.

Kinkajou facepalmed so hard, that her hand made a red mark on her forehead.

So Kinkajou was the last one on her team. 

Turtle threw a ball at her, but she dodged and threw a ball in return, therefore getting Turtle out. 

So now it was up to me to win her team the first trophy of the school year. 

Kinkajou lobbed a eye startling pink ball, which missed me by an inch. 

I grinned at her angry face, and threw a ball at her back when she whirled around to get another, and it hit her.

A cheer ran up through my side of the gym, and I was greeted with my whole team.
