Satren stayed up all night trying to figure out a faster antidote, but to his dismay, he had no avail. He flipped through the pages and he then stopped at the disease page. He looked around and sighed. He closed the book to join his friends. He saw Asypn trying to comfort Rayon, who was still knocked out by the fight. She squeezed water on him but he stayed out cold.
"Satren, what are we going to do? We can't lose Rayon like this!" Asypn started to tear up.
"I'm afraid there's nothing I can do Asypn . . . I'm truly sorry." Satren slumped.
Asypn ran past him and into her cave. There she could bawl her eyes out. Satren looked back at her cave, then looked at Rayon.
He can't do anything to save his practical brother, his sister was in tears and can't handle this, and Satren was starting to feel ...
Unacceptably guilty.
This is horrible... Rayon is about to die faster than I can make the antidote... Asypn is really hoping for his survival... and I'm just sitting around when I should be making the antidote!!! Satren thought and he bolted to his medical cave.
He looked it up and saw there was something very disturbing...
He flipped the book over and bashed his head against a wall.
He kept bashing and bashing his head until tears of blood came out of his forehead. Then following the tears of blood, were real tears that made Satren realize that they have no other option... The disease wasn't only a disease, it was a wound disease that killed the one who caught it faster for each wound they had. And it could seep into the wounds surrounding them.
Satren had at least four open wounds on him, Rayon had internal wounds from the attack, and Asypn had only two.
"Why the hell... does it have to be like this...?" Satren breathed.
"Why couldn't we have just stayed home in the cave... why didn't we just run from the bear?"
"Satren?" Asypn said from behind him.
Satren slowly whirled around to see Asypn starting to shed tears. She knew what they had to do, but she was not willing to do it. Satren wasn't either, but it was either that or death...
"If we're going to do this, we need to speak with Rayon. Come on, Satren." Asypn turned and walked towards the cave Rayon was in. Satren soon followed.
How can we tell him? Satren thought He's not going to make it, we have no other options, and I don't know what to do next... I'm sorry Rayon, but you're definitely not going to make it... and we won't be able to stay to comfort you...
