Madison's POV

Thomas. This is the name of the man I love. This is the name that lingers in my mind long after I fall asleep. This is the name that killed me.

Thomas was my best friend, that's all I was to him so that's all he was to me. He was one of the best people someone could ever meet, if it wasn't for his actual personality. The way I saw him was kind, generous, and deferential. The way he really was, however, was avarice, rude, and overall, an asshole. He was like an addiction. I hated that I loved him. He was bad for me but seemed so good. He was a deadly toxin, yet I still craved him. So one night when he came home drunk didn't seem like that bad of a situation.

Thomas came home after a night a drinking with his work buddies. He was mumbling something incoherently under his breath. This was something he often did while drunk. He burst out into a fit of giggles. God was his giggle adorable. I, being the good friend that I was, decided to lead him to the couch and give him some water. He smiled at me as I sat down next to him. After he finished his water, he lied back so that his head was resting in my lap. My heart skipped a beat. I smiled and started stroking his hair. He smiled up at me and we made eye contact. I leaned down and connected our lips briefly. When I pulled away I could've sworn he was pouting. I must've been wrong.

Thomas sat up and turned to face me. He looked me in the eye.

He mumbled incoherently to himself, glancing down at the couch. He leaned forward and kissed me. I kissed back almost instantly. It was a long and gentle kiss. I can still remember the butterflies I had in my stomach at that moment. He pulled away and looked at the wall across from the couch.

"I'm sorry.", he mumbled.

"What? N-No it was ni-", I was cut off by a bullet ringing throughout the room. I turned around the see the bullet lodged in the wall behind me. Right next to me head. I turned to face Thomas again. He had tears in his eyes and he was holding the gun out in front of him with shaking hands. He dropped the gun to his side and leaned forward. I sucked in a breath. He placed his hand against my cheek. His eyes fluttered shut. He kissed me one final time before pulling away and placing the gun to my temple.

"I-I'm so sorry.", he mumbled barely above a whisper. "I h-have to do t-t-th-this." The tears that were threatening to fall before fell and cascaded down his cheeks.

"W-why?", I mumbled in shock.

"I-I'll tell you when I-I see y-you again.", he smiled through his tears. I closed my eyes tight. He pulled the trigger. My body fell backward. He was momentarily deafened by the sound. He placed the gun to his own head. Before he could pull the trigger his cousin, Lafayette, walked in. He was mortified. Thomas quickly fired at Lafayette, missing in his haste. Lafayette ran out of the room to look for a phone. I watched from next to my body as Thomas smiled and put the gun to his own temple. I remember distinctly him mumbling, "Here I come Jemmy."

He pulled the trigger. His body fell. I saw him walk to me. He smiled. I smiled too.

"For eternity?", he mumbled.

"For eternity.", I smiled.

We spend out days wandering around the world. We watch over Thomas's cousin and his friends. He's gotten better.

A/N

Sorry it took me so long to finish this one. The inspiration just wasn't there until today and it took me a bit to write this out. Hope you enjoyed this. It was making up for the day I missed. Let's hope I do it everyday this week. You can kick me if I don't.

Edit: So I just realized I didn't define avarice so let me do that now.

Avarice- extreme greed for wealth or material gain
