The great Anandakripa mansion stood shining in the moonlight. It had a frightful aura that would make all hearts beat faster. It had a huge balcony and massive pillars supporting the structure. The huge building had small damages here and there but still it looked royal.
Deadly silence prevailed everywhere near the mansion. It's front area was covered by all kinds of shrubs and had creepers growing vigorously on the balcony .
There was two outhouses in the north-west and north east side of the mansion. The door of the north west outhouse was intensified by a layer of iron and protected with a series of locks. It's windows were overpowered by wild creepers.

This very building, the magnificent Anandakripa, which belonged to the Valliyath family was abandoned fifteen years ago.
As the moon shined brighter, the howling of dogs and hooting of owls occupied the place while the silence faded away.

Maya Prathap Valliyath, the daughter of Prathap and Mahima Valliyath, stepped out of the airport with her trolly bag rolling behind. She sipped the fuming coffee from the disposable paper cup and handed her luggage to Ravi, the most trusted servant of the Valliyaths. He had come to the airport to pick up the only living heir of the Valliyath family.
Maya had decided to renovate Anandakripa, which was formerly the family house of the Valliyaths. She had spent her ten years of childhood in that house and it always had a special place in her heart. The place where she breathed for the very first time.
She still wondered why her parents warned her many times not to go back to Anandakripa.
Maya adjusted herself in the front seat of the Audi car which was brought to pick her up and closed her eyes as a try to drift off to sleep. But the excitement of visiting her birthplace never allowed her to do so. She hadn't even closed her eyes in the plane due to this excitement.
"Amma, why is our house so large? "a five year old Maya asked her mother whilst gulping a handful of rice from her hand.
"When you and Adithya grow up, there should be enough space in this house for you and your kids right? "the dotting mother said as she stroked her daughter's hair.
Her family had this tradition of marrying cousins and Adithya was her cousin whom she loved the most after her parents.
Fight was the only connection between them. There would be great chaos if they were sitting in same room. Yet he was her best friend and they even shared the same birthday. She had cried more than anything when she came to know about he was missing.
Her chain of thoughts was broken when the car halted infront of an outhouse at the north east side of Anandakripa.
Ravi unlocked the door for her and she entered into the outhouse. Even though it was centuries old, it had all the modern facilities and was clean like crystal which was possible only due to Ravi's cleaning skills.
She thanked Ravi and entered the room which was availed for her. It was large and had her family photo hanging at one corner. It had all the members of the Valliyath family portrayed. Her grandparents Sita and Shekhar Valliyath, her parents, her father's siblings Vikram,Parvathi and Anand Valliyath and their spouses Lakshmi, Mayukh and Meera. She noticed herself sitting on her mother's lap, cuddling close to her.
She spent the whole night reminiscing good old colourful memories.

Maya stood staring at the decades old mansion. It stood with all its glory, telling it's own story.
'A house that was filled with colours and laughters, is now standing like a demon ready to attack. " she sighed.
It was three in the afternoon and the renovation works were going on full swing. The crew's chief was her close friend and a brilliant architect,Sameer.
She decided to roam around the west side of the mansion. As she walked, she saw an outhouse that was about hundred meters away from the mansion. It was the place where her uncle Anand who was believed to have mental problems, used to be locked when he gets hyper. It was the same place where he was found dead. After one year of his death, his wife Meera and son Adithya went missing.
Now it's door was locked and protected in such a way none can open it. As she extended her hand to touch a lock, she heard the crushing of dry leaves behind her, which indicated someone was approaching her.Her heart started beating faster and slowly she felt a hand on her shoulder.
She turned around hesitantly to see Sameer giving her a questioning look.
"Man, you freaked me out. "she said as she hit his shoulder playfully.

"You'll freak out more if you see what we found in the mansion, Madamji."he said as he folded his arms.

"What on earth is that? "she asked curiously.

"A coffin. "

"What??? "

"Yeah. "

Maya ran to the mansion and entered the room located at the farthest corner. The same place where she used to spent time with her late uncle. He was someone very close to her heart and he too loved her very much. She was the first one who spotted his lifeless body in the outhouse and she underwent depression for a month at a very early age.
She looked around the room and found a coffin at the centre, attatched to the floor. It was made of strong rock and the crew was trying hard to separate it from the floor. There was a holy thread tied around one of its edge. She slowly walked to the coffin and removed the thread. When one of the crew members hit it with a huge hammer after removing the thread, it scattered on the floor in a million pieces revealing a smaller coffin made of iron. In its centre, there was a frame in the shape of a ring ,in the shape of the the same ring that was braced around her left index finger.
She had found that ring from her father's drawer after three years of her uncle's death. It belonged to Anand when he was alive.
She removed the ring from her finger and pressed it into the frame, it fit right in. The coffin started opening slowly and a gush of wind blew on her face. As it opened, all the lights of the mansion were out. All she heard was a door closing behind her and all she could see was darkness, deadly black.
