"tell me, why does diamond bother with this bunch?" velvetpreen tilted her head. she and benitoite were halfway down the slope, stretching their legs with a walk. "at first, i had hope. but now, they've grown idle. it's just like what we know of... the flowers..." velvetpreen glanced back at the garden. the plants' leaves ruffled in the breeze.

"i do not know diamond's inner thoughts, velvetpreen." benitoite sighed. "but i still have to follow her."

"yeah, well." velvetpreen frowned at the row of trees ahead of them. "why wouldn't diamond just kill all of them at once?" velvetpreen realized the answer before benitoite said it.

"she may be strong enough to take on the whole clan, but if she takes even a few bodily blows, she'll die. she doesn't think it's worth the risk."

"why not? most of these cats haven't come close to accomplishing anything since the start of diamond's rule. we have to make sure something happens."

"... maybe tomorrow. and if you can get diamond to agree- though i'm sure these cats know that if they remain idle, then eventually they will die."
