Santa's Lists

Santa is busy enjoying his last free days on the white sand of an unknown island, drinking a cocktail while enjoying the warm sun rays before he will have to suffer the cold snow of the North Pole...

You have been selected to sort through Santa's lists. You know! There are two of them:

The Good Kids' list and the Naughty Kids' list.

Most of the time, reviewing the information you have been provided, it is easy for you to decide where the name should appear. There are, however, three situations for which not enough information has been provided.

You will have to review the cases, and for one of them to provide possible scenarios explaining the situation.

In each case, it may look bad for the child involved. Based on what you see, we want you to write two (2) short explanations, one that would put the child name in the Good List and another that would set the name in the lames of the Naughty list...

Here are the three cases to review:

I- The Tantrum

A child is throwing a tantrum. In itself, it is not good, neither bad. There may be a good reason for the tantrum, or just plain bad behaviour.
In this scene, you see a child really upset, crying and complaining. An adult is beside the child, looking upset also.

What really happened to lead to this situation?

II- Major mess

In this second situation, you see a kitchen in a major mess: the fridge door is opened, the cupboards are all opened and boxes thrown on the ground, traces of food everywhere, and leading into the corridor toward the child's bedroom. Said child is well asleep, tucked in bed, and a pet dog is asleep on the bedside.

Who created the big mess?

III- The push

In this last case, a child is seen pushing a friend, resulting in the friend hurting themselves.

What led to the push?

As you review the three cases, you may keep in mind that there are always two sides of the same coin. Nothing is ever white or black, but there are a multitude of shades in between.

The rules are simple:

(1) Chose a scenario for which you will give an explanation of what led to the situation observed;

(2) Write two possible explanations: one that will prove the child innocent and one that will show the child guilty;

(3) Once you have your two possible explanations, decide which one is the more plausible and tell Santa on which list the child's name may appear.

You may write the two scenarios and your decision for the list in a chapter in a story published on your profile and provide a link here in the comment section below. Or you may write directly in the comment section below your two possibilities.
Read others' hypotheses and share with your friends!

Please, keep all stories and comments PG13, and let's all enjoy the season's spirit!
