While our heroes are in Lumiose City, Serena suggests they visit Professor Sycamore before they continue their journey, and she's even made a batch of delicious macarons for the occasion. At the professor's lab, they settle in with a nice cup of tea, only to discover the macarons are missing! They find the basket of treats in a corner, guarded by a very hungry Chespin who isn't interested in sharing.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket has been researching Professor Sycamore's studies on Mega Evolution, and the villains decide that stealing his data would be a big boost to their schemes. They break into the lab grounds, grab the professor, and throw him in the back of their truck. He's not alone, however—Bonnie and Serena manage to sneak aboard before they drive away. The girls get locked inside by accident, but Serena manages to leave a trail of broken macarons—which Chespin quickly sniffs out, leading the others right to them.

In the meantime, James has plugged Professor Sycamore's data into a mechanical Mega-Mega Meowth, which attacks our heroes! Chespin lets Clemont know it wants to battle, but neither Chespin nor Pikachu can make a dent in the mighty machine. 

Before Y/n or the others could act, a Mega Blaziken appeared with it's trainer which the professor recognized has the mysterious trainer, Blaziken mask.

Mega Blaziken's incredibly powerful Flamethrower leaves Mega-Mega Meowth charbroiled, along with the actual Meowth who's been controlling it, and Team Rocket is sent blasting off again. As our heroes head back to the lab with the professor, Mega Blaziken's Trainer is watching over them—now without his mask. It's Meyer, Clemont and Bonnie's dad! 

But before anything else happens , a Crobat flew in with a note. It then handed to note to Y/n, who recognized the Crobat as his fathers.

"Who's that Pokemon?" Serena asked while pulling out her Pokedex.

"Crobat the bat Pokemon. And the evolved form of Golbat. Over the course of evolution, its hind legs turned into wings.  By alternately resting its front and rear wings, it can fly all day without having to stop." Her Pokedex beeped.

"A map to my next trail huh?" Y/n said.

"A trail? I always wondered how there compared to gyms, mind if joined you guys to watch?" Nessa asked.

"Be our guest."Y/n said as he got ready.

With the help of a Alakazam B/n also sent, they were teleported to a lake connected to two others. This reminded Y/n of the water trail back at Alola, which makes the trail type obvious.

Y/n sent out his Gyarados, he then rode on his back to the center of the lake. A small fish like Pokemon appeared, challenging him.

"Who's that Pokemon?"  Serena asked.

"Wishiwashi, the Small Fry Pokemon. A water type. When in a tough spot, their eyes tear up, which gives it the look of crying."  Y/n's Pokedex beeped.

"It's a Pokemon normally found in the Alola and Galar regions." Nessa explained. " They're mostly found in lakes of the two regions."

"Thunder fang!"

Gyarados bites down with fangs filled with electricity, knocking the small fry Pokemon out with ease.

Y/n and Gyarados then moved on to the next lake, with the others following them using a path around the lake.

The second Pokemon was another Wishiwashi, another thunder fang was enough to take it down.

At the final lake, Y/n could see a pedestal with the water type Z crystal, the waterium Z  at the other side.

Y/n saw a shadow forming under the waters, knowing the totem Pokemon is arriving, both trainer got ready.

The water in front of the two suddenly exploded, when the blast died down, it revealed a totem school form Wishiwashi!

Y/n could feel Gyarados slightly shake in fear, Y/n let out calming waves of aura to calm the shiny Pokemon down.

"Woah! Who's that Pokemon!?" Ash cried in shock. "Pika!" Pikachu cried out just as shocked.

"It's Wishiwashi's school form." Bea explained. "When one is in trouble, a school of them gathers and becomes the form you see before you."

"Their also known as the demon of the sea, and even Gyarados flee at the sight of them." Nessa continued.

"So that's why Gyarados looks so shaken up." Serena said.

" Will Y/n and Gyarados be okay?" Bonnie asked.

Rubbing the top of her head. "They'll be fine, let's have faith in Y/n." Nessa said reassuringly.

The totem used water gun, but because of the numbers it turned to a hydro pump.

Gyarados dodged by diving underwater, he then resurfaced near the others. 

The totem then called it's ally Pokemon, a Alomomola!

"Alomomola, the Caring Pokemon. A water type.  It can use heal pulse  to help friends recover." Y/n's Pokedex beeped.

Y/n knew  he had to take down the caring Pokemon quickly. "Thunder fang!"

Gyarados bites down on Alomomola with electric filled fangs, this scared off the caring Pokemon as it flees.

Y/n then got an idea. "Aqua jet! Back to back!"

Gyarados surrounded himself with water before rushing at the totem, Gyarados slowly but surely broke apart the school from.  Then when the lead Wishiwashi was seen, one thunder fang was enough take the totem down and out.

After the small fry Pokemon swam off, Y/n and Gyarados swam to the pedestal. Y/n the attached the waterium Z to his ring.

After Alakazam teleported back to the lab, Nessa then shook hands with Y/n and Bea has she need to return to Galar.

Before she left, her whispered to Bea's ear. "Just because you traveling with him, it doesn't mean you won."

Bea could only narrow her eyes, wondering what Nessa was planing.

As are group get's ready to leave, Bonnie notices that the same Chespin has been spying on them the entire time. Professor Sycamore then tells Clemont that Chespin wants to travel with him, which Chespin confirms. Professor Sycamore gives him Chespin's Pokeball , and Clemont  recalls it inside, allowing to travel with them. The friends say their goodbyes to the Professor, promising to meet up again, before resuming their journey towards Cyllage City.

Y/n could only wonder what the future hold as the journey continues.

Done and done,next time our heroes will meet a pair of Pancham and a Pangoro, but it seems that Pangoro was missing it's thin-stemmed shoot. Can our heroes help them? Read to find out.
