It's Saturday and I am here with the EPILOUGE of this story.. Thank you for your votes and comments. Means a lot.🙂🙂🙂. The parts in italics is the flashback.
Without further ado, here is the next part of this story. Hope you like it :-

Dev was sitting in the Doctor's cabin, his face muscles tense in anxiety while he shook his hands and legs in nervousness. His eyes darting towards the door of the examination room every few seconds. Half-an-hour had passed since Dr. Meenakshi Iyer along with Sonakshi and a nurse had gone into the room. Dr. Iyer had asked Dev to wait outside while she completed the tests and check-ups that she needed to do with Sonakshi, he saw the nurse come out of the room and just as he was about to ask her the nurse asked him to wait for a few more minutes as she said that the doctor will apprise him about the situation and went out as he nodded his head in agreement. He picked up the glass of water and drank it to ease his nerves, but it did not help. He looked at his mobile which was in silent mode, there were 10 missed calls. A couple of them from Ishwari and Asha while the rest were from his office but ever since Sonakshi had gone into the examination room nothing registered in his mind given the gravity of the situation since last afternoon......

The previous day in the afternoon, Sonakshi had decided to leave for home early from the hospital just after having her lunch as she was suffering with a headache, asking her subordinate to cancel her appointments for the day she left. She informed Dev who wanted to be with her right away, but she refrained him from doing that as he was working on an important deal with a German firm. Asking her to take care he called up Ishwari to inform the same, as Sonakshi returned home she asked her to take rest after making a strong cup of coffee so that she would get relief. Nikki who had just returned from her college went along with Sonakshi and applied a cold compress on her forehead to help her get rid of the headache as slowly Sonakshi fell asleep.

It was around 7 in the evening when Dev returned home winding up his work early. As he entered the house he enquired about Sonakshi's health while Ishwari informed him that she was taking rest as he hurriedly left for his room. As he entered the room he was surprised as Sonakshi was not on the bed, he looked around to find her just as he heard the sound water flush from the washroom. He went towards the door as he asked "Sona...Are you fine?" he asked but there was no response. After a few moments the door of the washroom opened and Sonakshi walked out of it. Dev was stunned to look at her, she looked pale and weak.

"Sona...What's the matter? Why do you look so weak Baccha?" he said in concern as he hugged her while she just leaned on to him for support. He made sit on the bed as he made her drink some water. "Sona...Are you fine?" he asked as she looked at him, he could not be sure, but he felt he saw a few tears in her eyes. Suddenly she got up and ran towards the washroom as she threw up, Dev ran behind her and was caressing her back to give her some relief. He helped her clean up and holding her by the side made her lie on the bed.

"Let me call the doctor" he said and was about to dial the number when Sonakshi stopped him as she spoke "Dev...I think I am PREGNANT" said Sonakshi stunning him into silence, words failed him as tears brimmed his eyes. After a few moments he spoke "How...How do you say so Sonakshi?" he asked as she showed him the home pregnancy test result, it was POSITIVE. Dev just kept looking at it as Sonakshi spoke "I missed my Period by a couple of days Dev and then from morning today I am feeling nauseous and weak" she said while Dev was still trying to come to terms with the news.

"Sona...We will go to the doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Till then don't tell about this to anyone" he said as Sonakshi nodded her head in agreement as she leaned on to him, while she was happy and hoping that she was pregnant. Dev was sceptical given what had happened the last time around and also because of what the Doctor had said. He did not want to celebrate too early lest he met with disappointment and sadness later. Asha called up Sonakshi to enquire about her health and asked her to take care of it. Dev and Sonakshi decided to have their dinner in the room itself as she was weak, after which they called off the night.

"Sir, do you need anything?" asked the nurse who had just entered the cabin only to find Dev sweating in anxiety as he was brought out of his thoughts, he gestured her that he did not need anything as she went inside the examination room with the medications that Dr. Iyer had asked her to get. Dev got up and went towards the window which below which there was the garden, he could see many people there, some with their kids, some with parents, some with their better halves as his thoughts going back to the happenings of the past One year....

The knock on the door broke Dev's slumber as he woke up groggily, he looked at his love sleeping with her hand on his chest as a smile formed on his lips, he removed the strand of hair from her face which was disturbing her sleep as he heard someone knock on the door once again, he quickly got up and woke up Sonakshi as well informing her about someone knocking the door as both quickly picked their clothes which lay on the floor and wore it quickly. After their intense love making both had gone into a deep slumber in each other's arms, their first peaceful sleep after a month. He went and opened the door to find Elena who had come to call them for lunch. Dev told her to go ahead as he along with Sonakshi came down after a few moments. The Bose family was happy to see Sonakshi smiling and blushing as Elena and Saurabh teased them. After a long time, their daughter was smiling, they did not ask anything to the couple as they knew that whatever was the issue both had solved it. After the lunch Sonakshi informed them that she will leave for the Dixit house which made everyone happy, but they were sad as well as she had been with them for the past one month, but Dev promised them that they would visit more often.

Ishwari was delighted to see Sonakshi back at Ishwari Niwas, she welcomed them back by doing their aarthi so as to ward of the evil from her children's lives. Dev asked Sonakshi to go ahead to their room and take rest since she was weak as she left. Dev then informed Ishwari about the reason for Sonakshi's behaviour which infuriated Ishwari to no end. She right away called her Mamiji and admonished her, she asked for forgiveness but Ishwari would have none of it. She talked to her brother and asked him to refrain Radharani from badmouthing Sonakshi as he agreed to it. Things seemed to be returning to normal after that as slowly Sonakshi made peace with the present, all that mattered to her was that she was with her loved ones and they supported her in every way possible.

A month had passed since Sonakshi returned to Ishwari Niwas. One evening Dev returned from his work when he saw Sonakshi standing near the window of their room gazing into the night sky. He slowly tiptoed behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist he nuzzled his head into her neck as she hissed in pleasure. After a few moments Dev turned her towards him "What are you thinking about Sonakshi?" he asked as Sonakshi held his hand and took him towards the bed as both sat down.

"What's the matter Sonakshi? Do you want to talk about something?" he asked as she looked at him, taking his hand into hers she said, "Yes Dev, I have been thinking about something for the past few days and wanted to talk about it" as Dev replied "Then tell it Sonakshi, why are you hesitating?" he asked as Sonakshi took a deep breathe, she knew she had to handle this very carefully.

"I want to be a mother Dev. I want to undergo the treatment" she said as the very next moment she saw Dev's muscles tense up, he released his hands from hers as he got up, Sonakshi was not surprised by his reaction as she got up as well. Dev was about to leave when Sonakshi held his hand "Dev, listen to me once. Please..." she said in a pleading tone as he turned to look at her as he spoke "There's nothing to talk about this Sonakshi, we have already spoken about this before" he said alluding to the conversations they had in the past one month about this and each time Dev shot down her request, he did not want to take any chances with her health.

"But I want this Dev, I want to feel a part of you inside me, our part, nurture it with love, se him or her grow up. I want this for me, for us Dev" she said, her eyes brimming with tears now as Dev cupped her cheeks as he spoke "Sonakshi, why don't you understand? I cannot take any risk with your health Jaan, I cannot lose you. I cannot imagine my life without you Sona...Please understand me Sonakshi, you are complete as you are. Even I want to have a child but that cannot be at the risk of keeping your life at cost Sona...never" he said as he hugged her while Sonakshi tightened her around him. After a few moments she came out of the hug as Dev made her sit on the bed and made her drink water.

After a few moments she spoke again "Dev... I want to experience the bliss of parenthood, I want to see our child grow before our eyes, please Dev let us do this...Please let me undergo the treatment" she requested once again as Dev took her hand into his as he spoke "Sona...who said that just by giving birth to a child they become parents or they can enjoy parenthood. Just sharing the genes or DNA does not make one a parent Sonakshi. It's a huge responsibility which one must take up. And we can do that even without you needing to undergo any treatment and risking your life" he said as she looked at him surprised wondering what he was alluding to "What do you mean Dev?" she asked as he replied.

"WE WILL ADOPT A KID SONAKSHI"

The sound of the door opening brought Dev out of his thoughts as he turned to look at the door to see Sonakshi come out. Sonakshi had changed into the clothes she had worn when she had come with him this morning. Dev hurried towards them and held Sonakshi as he made her sit on the chair. Settling himself down on the chair besides her he asked "Sona...What did the doctor say? Is everything fine?" he asked as tears brimmed in Sonakshi's eyes scaring him more. "What's the matter Sonakshi? Why are you crying? Please tell me what's the matter?" he asked as she looked at him and slowly whispered "DEV...I AM PREGNANT" she said.

To say that Dev was stunned would have been an understatement at that moment, tears of joy brimmed his eyes. He did not know what he should do, should he pick Sonakshi up and twirl her around for giving him the greatest joy of his life or should he shout out to the world that they were going to be parents. He ruffled his hair unable to understand what to do as Sonakshi just kept looking at Dev as tears of joy flowed unabashedly from her eyes. The joy and happiness in Dev's eyes were overwhelming her, she felt that whenever she left this world, it would be the last thing she would remember in her last moments.

"Sona...our...our child?" said Dev, his voice choking due to tears as Sonakshi took his hand and kept in on her stomach as she spoke in joy "Yes Dev...our child...our happiness...Dev" she said as he smiled, he bent down and kissed her stomach as he whispered "Welcome to our life, little one" he said as he got up and took Sonakshi in a tentative hug, he did not want to hurt his child. Sonakshi seemed to have understood his dilemma as she tightened the hug. They were like that for a few moments when they heard the examination room door opened and in walked Dr. Iyer.

"Oh...seems like Sonakshi has already given you the news Dev" she said with a smile while they reciprocated with a smile as well. She settled on her chair as Dev and Sonakshi sat as well as Dev asked "Meena, Is everything fine? Is the child fine? Is Sonakshi fine?" he rattled off as she looked at him with a smile on her face, she had seen many husbands before react the same way.

"Firstly, congratulations to you both" she said as they thanked her while Dr. Iyer continued "And to answer your question" she paused for a moment before continuing.

"EVERYTHING IS FINE DEV...BUT..."
