I thought about this. It made sense that she'd want revenge but to murder her...wasn't that a bit extreme? I removed my foot from her chest and helped her. I pulled her into a hug after I put my knife away.

"I'm sorry Marlene did that." I whispered in her ear.

She pulled away and went back to walking with her head down. I caught up to her and held her hand.

"Where are you going?"

"To the St. Louis Arch."

"Why?"

"To be with others like me."

"Like you? What do you mean?"

"There's a lot of people like me. People with red eyes and a gray streak of hair. We are people who kill those that betray us. However, others kill for fun...stay away from them. They'll have a gold streak of hair and orange eyes."

"Why would you go there then?"

"They're the only people who understand me. I've been with them before and they'll accept me."

I nodded. She seemed easier to talk to now. It's like her whole world changed when she revealed her secret.

"Do you have to go there?"

"No...I don't But I am. Why do you ask?"

"Stay with me then."

"No."

"Why?"

"I might harm you if you betray me and I don't want that."

"I don't care. I won't betray you."

"Y-you won't?"

"No...I won't betray you. I want to be with you and only you."

I watched her stop and I smiled softly. I made her look at me and I kissed her. Pushing her up against a tree my lips never left hers. She wasn't moving but I didn't stop. I put my hand on her waist and my other hand on the back of her head holding her to me. Then she pushed me away. I frowned and took out my knife holding it against her neck. Her eyes widened and then there was an exploding sensation of pain in my groin. I dropped the knife and fell to the ground. By the time I recovered she was gone.
