Angie's POV

I think that now would be a good time for some backstory. About me and Alex.

We met in class. We had both chosen the same book, and we talked about it for a few minutes. Then, I started to go into a Moment. I tried to hide it, to avoid being rude, but he caught on immediately. "Are you alright?" He asked me, quietly. "It's okay. You don't have to respond." He whispered after a moment. I nodded, frozen by memories. A single tear slid down my cheek. No, I should be strong. I'm always the strong one, I... "It's okay." His kind words unleashed the wall of tears I'd been hiding from the class. He was actually able to lift me up. He said to the teacher, "This is important. We'll be back soon," and carried me out of the class.

He carried me for much longer than expected. I thought he would sit me down in the hallway, but he kept on going. I heard the concrete underneath him turn to grass, and when he set me down, it was in a soft bed of grass, concealed behind the school. I looked up at him when I was able. "I'm sorry." "For what?" "For making you come out here." He smiled at me. "You didn't make me do anything. You needed to be out of that class. You're out of that class."

I didn't go back to class for hours. When I did go, it was to a different class. I wasn't ready to go back before the class ended. Before going back to class, though, I got a good look at him. He was short and thin--Even for his height. It was surprising that he could even lift me at all. His hair was an odd shade of platinum blond, and it curled down to his eyes.

When I stood to go to my class, I wobbled a bit. When I regained my balance, he said to me, "By the way.. I know some girls would think this is romantic. It's not, I'm taken. Just wanted to make that completely clear." I nodded. That was good. No pressure. I smiled. This would be a good friend to have.
