Picture: Anyone else want to go to wonderland. 

We’ve all gotten that little message at the bottom of the screen. And I don’t know about anyone else but when I see that message I get excited! I mean someone wants to talk to me! Who wouldn’t be happy?

Anyway, you go on and the conversation starts off like:

Them: Hello

You: Hi!

Them: How are you?

You: I’m good! How are you?

Them: I’m good! Have you read my new story lately? It’s called ‘Love is Key’ you should really check it out and vote it and stuff! It would be so awesome.  

And you’re just sitting there with your mouth open. Thinking ‘They tricked me’ or ‘They set me up!’ Or sometimes the person chats you and it’s like this:

Them: Hey! I have this awesome story you’d love up called ‘Love is Key’ Please please please read it!

I’m sitting there shaking my head. No! No! No!

It should be Wattpad law that you CAN NOT chat someone asking them to read your story. There are some expectations. If it’s a read you can ask them. If they read a chapter on the book and you just put up a new one you can. If the person did it to you, get them back.

BUT DON’T JUST RANDOMLY OUT OF THE BLUE ASK THEM!

First of all, it’s rude. You’re faking your way through a conversation and waiting for the perfect time to ask them.

Second, you don’t really care how there doing.

And third it is as annoying as can be. Not only does it make the person mad, it makes them not want to read your story and not even want to associate with you.

If you want to get reads, go out and make friends. Read other people’s books. Most of the time if you can someone/read one of their books they do the same back. Set up a ‘Read or Read’ forum. There’s so many ways to get reads besides being rude and chatting someone.
