Title: The Summer of Striped Tees

Summary: Babysitting is often considered as a girl's job. You don't often see guys around Camicola Pier with children that they are keeping an eye on. That's probably where you'd see guys surfing the minuscule waves that no one is brave enough to go past during the stormy season.

But aye, Will Harold somehow finds himself in that situation the summer before his Junior year of high school. Watching children whose parents need to rekindle some romantics is how he makes money for a new car.

Easy job, isn't it? Especially when a peculiar neighbour girl drops by. Will wasn't always the best with girls, but he doesn't think they've ever made efforts to hang out with him.

Will lives by the rule that everything has a purpose, even the surfboard that cause him to lose consciousness. If only he could figure out that of this damn girl.

Reviewer's Remarks: The Summer of Striped Tees is a humorous coming of age (ongoing) novel. The author succeeds in 'breaking stereotypes' with diversified characters.

As I have mentioned in previous reviews character development and personalities are immensely significant. The author did not fail in delivering well-rounded and realistic characters.

The main character, Will is a teenager who depicts his story from the first point of view. During his occupancy as a babysitter for the summer he meets a lively female by the name 'Grace'.

Another aspect I found delightful in this story was Will's character. His character was realistic and responsible - a trait we do not find in most characters. He wasn't the cliched 'pretentious' or 'conceited' male character that is usually portrayed in most stories - and this is something I loved.

Will's witty and sarcastic remarks were engaging and humorous. I also admired the author for not shying away from poignant themes like how Grace's character goes through her own problems and angst.

The writing style was also beautifully contrived - the vocabulary, the grammar, the speech (e.t.c) were all spot on.

Rating (out of five): 5

A note to the author: I could tell by your way of writing that you were confident as to how you wanted to proceed your story - this is a trait I admire since I being a writer usually find myself flustered as to how I should continue my story.

Oh, and how I loved Will's character! His quirky assertions and convincing character kept me engaged and pulled me further into the story. I simply relish this work.
