Part 20 — Revenge

Xin was greeted by three of Ed's allies, who jumped from the bushes she had shot into. Zap, expecting this, had snuck over to the side. He disabled one of them and shot down the other two with the pistol he obtained. Ed, seeing this, fired all of the shots in Xin's pistol and started to retreat.

"Get back here!" Zap ran until he caught up with Ed. He jumped in front of him and kicked him, causing Ed to fall.

Xin caught up with them 10 seconds later. By then, Zap was already readying his fist. He punched Ed in the stomach. "That's for kindergarten!"

He followed up with 5 more punches, raising his interjections by a grade level each time. "First grade! Second grade! Third grade! Fourth grade! Fifth grade!"

He punched with more force. "That's what you get for making fun of me for being an orphan?"

Xin lost focus on his punches. Zap's an orphan?

He punched even harder. "And that's for making me a friendless orphan!" With one last punch, he shouted, "That's for ruining my life, bitch!" He dropped Ed and started walking away.

Xin ran to catch up with him. "Zap..." she waited, but he didn't interrupt. "Zap, you never told me that you were an orphan."

Zap sighed. "Being honest, I didn't really see it as necessary. I didn't know my parents at all. I was put in an orphanage right after birth."

"And what's with him making you a friendless orphan?"

"Go back to the day I asked you to be my roomate. What if I was clutching my stomach and had a bruised face?"

"A bruised face?"

"He did that as well."

"I'd think that you were weird and decline...no offense."

"Exactly. Would you be my friend at an orphanage if I was that way every day?"

"No...I'd call you disgusting."

"Ex...actly." Zap walked ahead of Xin again. Xin stood still, thinking. Zap was an orphan. He had no friends during his childhood. Ed ruined his life...and he told us about none of that. She started running to catch up with Zap again.
