Note:  Wild can transform into a wolf at will in this fic!

I knew that portal wasn't normal. I also knew I shouldn't have left my favourite hood drying on a branch, cause now I had to use my frayed, burnt, patched one to cover my scars. And we didn't seem to be in anyone's Hyrule, or so I thought. After catching sight of the castle, I knew exactly where we were. All colour faded from my face, and I raised a leather clad hand, trying so hard to pretend I wasn't here. "Wild? Wild, you've gone really pale... Are you okay?" Hyrule asked, concern clouding his gentle brown eyes. I gave an imperceptible shake of my head, trying to quell the rising panic in my mind, trying to force my breathing to slow down, trying to pretend I was anywhere else. I was standing in front of the castle... As it had been... 100 years ago...

I took a shallow breath, then another, then another, I kept breathing, faster and faster while the tears made their way to the surface of my eyes like beads. I wanted to curl in on myself, dig myself a small hole and go and die in it. I collapsed to my knees with a pitiful whine of pure anguish, I wanted to run away, anywhere but here. I put my hands over my face and cried openly into them, feeling strange feelings and letting my emotions run away with themselves. Twi and Sky crouched in front of me, Twi pulling me into a tight hug. I clung to him like a lost child, sobbing into his muted green tunic. Sky stroked my hair, teasing sticks out of it gently while I cried. All the others kind of just lingered awkwardly; they never knew what to do when I broke down. I whimpered softly to Sky, "We're in my Hyrule... But, before..." He nodded, and gestured to the others to come closer. He briefed them all, and with them on board, we set off. !I-I would like to see the Champions again..." I muttered, squeezing Wind's hand tightly as we marched towards Hyrule Castle.

We didn't have to wait long for the Champions. They were assembled in the Hyrule Castle Gazebo, talking about battle plans and Princess Zelda's powers, among other things. I gestured for the Chain to stay back and out of sight, while I pulled the unravelling edge of my spare hood to cover my face. I quickly unclipped my slate, handing it to Twi after removing my Savage Lynel Crusher from it. Taking a deep breath, I began to jog over to the shelter where they sat. Urbosa noticed me first, looking at me with a suspicious gaze. "It seems we have a visitor." She eyed my scruffy clothes, especially my tunic. She seemed to recognise it from somewhere, but she clearly couldn't see the royal blue through all the grime. "How did you get past the guards?" I scowled beneath my hood. "Perhaps if you let me wash my tunic, you'd recognise me." I signed, not wanting to talk to them yet. Urbosa nodded, weighing up the consequences of letting me wash my filthy tunic. I turned on my heel, striding angrily down the hall. I didn't look back, but I heard Mipha's voice anyway. "Is it only me who thinks we should know who they are?

When I got back, Champion's tunic a gleaming blue, Revali offered me a raised eyebrow, like he didn't care. Urbosa, however drew her Scimitar and pointed it at my chest. "Okay, now you're pushing even my patience. Why are you disguised in Link's tunic?" I pushed her back, anger ripping through my soul. "And here I thought you'd be pleased to see me... How wrong was I to want to see you again, but no, no love for Link." I yanked my hood back, revealing my face, identical to their Link's and my horrific burn scars. "No love for Link after all he went through to save your sorry hides? No love for Link after he put up with that irritating Princess's whining and screaming? No? Well I guess I'll move on. Nice seeing you. And, Mipha? Thanks for standing here while your comrade points a sword at your fiancé and doing absolutely nothing to help. Some girlfriend you are!" I turned and ran, not looking back to see Daruk's confused expression, Urbosa and Revali's rage and Mipha's look of absolute despair.

She took off after me, much to the surprise of her fellow Champions. "Link! Oh, Link, don't run from me, please! Kindly stop running!" I turned suddenly, causing her to fall into my arms. I pushed her from me violently, a wolfish snarl lacing my face like deathly poison. "No. We're done. You've already proven how much you don't want me. Is making me feel inadequate not enough for you?" She hung her head and my stone heart melted. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and pulled her to me again. Her face shone with emotion, and as she began to cry, I Brushed her tears away, looking deep into her eyes. Unfortunately, that gave Urbosa time to catch up to us. She kicked me in the chest with the pointy heel of her sandal, forcing me away from Mipha. I growled, lunging forwards and snapping my fingers. Lightning sprang from my fingertips, lacing the hall with bolts of electricity.

Mipha jumped back, trying to avoid the lightning, but it brushed over her like she wasn't there. Urbosa looked shocked, stumbling from me like I was contagious. "What are you?" I bared my fangs, howling at her, watching her expression change from surprised to furious. "You want to know? I've already told you! I am Link! Hero of the Wilds, and I will earn your respect!" She stood between Mipha and me, shielding the young zora from my wrath. I ripped up the hall towards her, transforming as I went. Time slowed down as I ran, light brown fur overtaking my body with a darker brown forming my scars. My eyes glowed blue with the powers of the Champions as I lunged at Urbosa, watching her duck out of my way. I turned on her, protecting Mipha from her lightning. The Gerudo Chief snapped her fingers together, creating one massive burst of lightning. I leapt up, catching the bolt directly in my skull. I crashed to the floor, my limbs like leaden weights. Mipha ran to my side, tears spilling down her pretty cheeks. Using the last of my strength, I transformed back, leaving my lying on the ground, scorched and broken. I reached to wipe her tears away, and she held my ruined hand in her small ones. I closed my eyes slowly, listening to her cries and pleas for me to stay with her. "Mipha..." I murmured, "I'm so sorry..."
