Welcome to another movie review. But it isn't a movie review today. Today I do a review to the series "The Witcher". I just finished watching all episodes. The Witcher is a Netflix series based on the book series the Witcher by Andrzei Sapkowski. The Netflix adaptation of The Witcher is directed by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and the main character, Geralt of Rivia, is played by Henry Cavill. Ciri is played by Freya Allen, Yennefer is played by Anya Chalotra and Jaskier is played by Joey Batey. Henry Cavill was the only one who had experience. Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra are new in this business. They haven't had a big project before. But they did exceptionally. I'm obsessed with this series and it deserves a great 8. Why only a 8? Let me explain.

I did read all the books before I've watched the series. And it's nearly impossible to live up to the expectations of the audience. Books are generally just better. The books give a look at Geralts inside. It lets the reader understand why he is how he is. He is the main character but somehow they didn't really got attention in the series. Ciri and Yenna are in the centre of attention all the time. Without doubt they are really interesting characters in the books as well, but I think they could have gave Garalt the same attention. Ciri and Yenna are getting the story rolling. The audience can attach to them because they feel with them. You can kinda connect with Geralt, because you want to figure him out. Even if you have read the books you try to figure out what's going on in Geralts mind.

I was impressed how much they did for their roles. And Henry Cavill was clearly the best cast for Geralt. He loved the games and books and knew everything about the witcher. He was passionate about it. And no one could have played him better. It is funny that Freya Allan portrait Ciri so well, even though she hadn't read the books. I'm impressed that everyone tried to do as much of their own stunts as the producers allowed them to do. They put a lot of effort into it. Henry Cavill said that he even continued when he was really tired. At the end of the day their hands were shaking of exhaustion. I don't know if I'd have the discipline to do that. I'd probably end up in the hospital, because I collapsed.

To sum up I can say that the books are better, but if you're lazy and don't like to read it's a great series. It's better than most adaptions of books. So I'd recommend it to people who aren't fanatic fans of the books, because it will be a disappointment, but if you don't know the books it's a great thing to watch.
