Any other day.

It is just like ang other day for the 23 now year old Shinobu. The older you get the less exciting birthdays become.

With the exception of celebrating with her two sisters and her friend Mitsuri in the evening, there was nothing else to do.

Though, she felt as if she had forgotten something.

"Happy Birthday Dear Shinobu." Her sisters and friend sang, "Happy Birthday to you."

Shinobu blew out the candles and made her wish, the three beside her cheered happily.

Kanae and Kanao hurried to the kitchen and came back with a knife, plates and cups.

"What are we drinking?" Mitsuri shouts from wherever she was, scanning the display of drinks in front of her. She just chose cola, alcohol not being ideal with Kanao around.

Ding

The bell snapped out Shinobu out from her trance.

"Are we expecting any guests?"

They glanced around at each other, waiting for affirmation, however none came.

"I'll get it." Shinobu walked the hall and turned on the door monitor only to see—

A man carrying things.

"Who is it?" She asked through the monitor.

The man hit a button on the outside and spoke. "Delivery for Miss Shinobu From Mister Giyū."

Ah, that's what she forgot, Giyū.

She opened the door and was handed her gifts, presumably.

"Who is it?" Kanae took a peak from the door, only to find Shinobu holding a bouquet of roses and a small gift box.

"Woah." Mitsuri exhaled a breath, Kanae stood there with wide eyes.

"Happy Birthday, signed Giyū." Mitsuri read. "Who's Giyū? Did you get a boyfriend without telling me?"

"He's not my boyfriend!" She cried, discontent at accuse. "He's just a phone friend."

"You have a phone friend?! For how long? How did it start?"

Mitsuri bombared her with questions, then she gasps.

"Did you two know about this?"
The question directed at the sisters.

"Kind of.." They wryly smile.

Mitsuri's mouth was left agape, one says if you look into her eyes you could see the betrayal she felt.

"I didn't find the right moment to mention it." Shinobu laughed awkwardly. Mitsuri jokingly roll her eyes.

They went back to the living room to settle down.

"Nee-san will you open it?" Kanao asked.

Shinobu settles the bouquet on the table and observed the small white box wrapped in purple ribbon.

"You want to see what's inside?" She said absentmindedly, though it was obvious from the light in Kanao's eyes that she was excited, the other two in the room weren't any better.

Shinobu gently pulled the ribbon but she stopped, she was hesitant, internally fighting her thoughts.

'What if it is something ridiculous again?'

Like the last time he sent cake with those...decorations and words.

'But that was because his nephew thought I was his girlfriend.'

"Shinobu?"

Shinobu sighed and took the lid off. Her eyes reflects the outlines of her gift.

'Earrings.'

"Sapphire Earrings?" She blurts out.

Mitsuri took a piece and admire the craftsmanship at eye level, "It's beautiful, try them on."

Shinobu refused, saying it's getting late and they should now be done with the celebration, her cold act did little in hiding the smile she had.

» Giyū «

"Hello."

"Hey."

"..."

"..."

"Um I got your gifts."

"Do you like them?"

"I love it, also that was a lot of roses."

"Haha, yeah it was about 51 roses."

"It was heavy."

"I'll keep that in mind."

"Are they expensive?"

"The earrings? No."

"I feel like your lying, especially with that much flowers."

"You never know, I might own a flower shop. Any ways happy birthday."

"Thank you."

"How was it?"

"Same as usual until evening came, celebrations and your delivery man came."

"Haha, it took me a while to choose the earrings, and by the time I got the flowers it was already late."

"So no flower shop."

"Oops, unfortunately no."

"Why those earrings anyway?"

"They look pretty."

"..."

"At least try to hide that you're laughing."

"Bahaha No it's— I agree, don't worry, my stomach hurts hahh."

"Ahem, I still have work to do so I'll leave you be, good night."

"Alright alright, thank you really, good night."

"The earrings would match her hair pin."

"Wow these look wonderful."

Hello! Happy New Year, I Haven't updated since December, I thought I haven't updated for like 6 months but sadly I must tell you that I will be on a hiatus again, since I'll be facing my entrance exams next month till March, but rest assure I will not abandon this story, I will hopefully be back on March 25 and the next time I update I am fully planning to end this story during my breaks. I am just letting you guys know so you won't think I'm dead. Anyways take care of yourselves and thank you very much for reading my story, I couldn't have gotten to this point without you lots.<3
