(Kenji's POV)

I walked down the hallway towards the library, the curry bun clutched in my hand. I could feel their eyes on me as they snickered about me and talked behind my back.

'The murderer's son' they liked to call me.

Five years ago, my father was falsely tangled up in a murder case. He has been in prison ever since. I knew that he was falsely accused as that night he was at home and I had watched him with my own eyes as he beat my mother black and blue.

My mother died after a week and I was left all alone. I ended up with my grandfather who was a very wise man. He loved me and cared for me; unlike my father.

At school, I was used to the names that were thrown at me. 'Murderer's son' 'runaway kid' 'creep' 'fag' and so on. I've learned how to shrug them off. I've learned to stay strong and survive.

I walked into the peaceful ambiance of the library. I walked up to the literary fiction section as I looked for a book.

The Fault In Our Stars caught my attention. I took it out of the shelf and walked off to the terrace to have my lunch peacefully.

I sat on the empty terrace chewing on my curry bun. I read through the book, it seemed interesting. I flipped to the last page as a scribble caught my eye.

'I wish I could die' was scribbled on the last page. Anger flared through me. I thrived to survive every single day through pain and struggle and here is some callous teenager casually wishing for death.

Is death a joke nowadays?

Engulfed by rage, I scribbled back- 'Learn to value your god damn life, surviving is difficult for many and here you are casually wishing for your death. You should be ashamed'

The recess got over; I marched back to the library and kept the book in its place since I didn't like carrying them home as I had errands to run and didn't want to ruin them in the process.

I walked back to class. The bright sky had turned a darker hue as the clouds gathered around. It was going to rain, I thought.

It sure was a gloomy and annoying day.
