❛ prologue ⎜ the beginning ❜

But I'm not here to talk about the complicity of my life. I'm here to tell you what happened in that fateful year.

I have spent my entire life trying to find a balance. A balance of my sorrows and my triumphs. A balance of the crazy and the normal. A balance of the real and the painted.

The beginning of my life was fairly simple. I was born. I cried. I ate. I slept. I grew into a young girl who thought that the universe could be perfect. But the world that I existed in was still recovering. Family friends turned up dead or mad, the remnants of dark times, showing me the world wasn't as perfect as I had imagined. That's when my life first tilted.

My Hogwart years were fairly simple. I thrived in classes. I stuck to my friends, learning to trust them. And I stayed far away from all the action. I got along well with Hermione Granger, but I never joined her friend group. I didn't want to be in the limelight. I didn't want to be involved with the Sorcerers Stone. I didn't want to find the Chamber of Secrets, even when my best friend was paralyzed. I didn't want to confront the Prisoner of Azkaban, because he was dangerous, no matter what people said. I didn't want to be in the Triwizard Tournament, or to have anything to do with it.

Cedric Diggory was a Hufflepuff that I admired, someone who I thought was cute but wasn't really interested in. But when he was killed, my perfect balance began to tilt. The aftermath is what threw me off.

This story starts at the beginning of my fifth year. The summer had been a hard one, and I wasn't sure whether or not the school would lift my spirits - which was a first.

Now, let us go back to when my life first started becoming complicated. The beginning of the middle. This is where it all began.

To whoever is reading this: thank you so much! Thank you for picking up this book and giving it a chance. I promise it will get more interesting.

This is just a a prologue. Not very good one, I know but please bear with me. I just wanted to give a small hint of what's coming. Are you ready for the actual action?Β

If you found this chapter interesting, tysm! If you didn't, please read the actual first chapter to just give it a chance, this chapter doesn't do this amazing plot (all credit toΒ @remuslupout) justice AT ALL.

If any of you comment on this, I will try to respond. Please give me feedback! I am a writer-in-training and I want all the opinion I can get on what I need to improve. And I want to know what you guys think about this. Please comment!
