Y/N was walking through the halls of the underground ruin where the masquerade tournament was held and was now turned into a temporary lab.

On her way to meet up with Shu and Valt, she saw someone else walking through the hallway. She paused her footsteps and thought he might have looked familiar. The boy didn't acknowledge her and walked past her.

Y/N: 'Who was that? And... Why do I feel like I've seen him somewhere?'

Y/N shrugged her shoulders and continued down the hall. When she got to the center of the underground ruin, she saw Valt converting with the staff while Shu was standing in front of the Aether stadium, staring at it blankly. Thoughts clouded him, as he subconsciously clenched his fist.

Valt turned around and saw Y/N standing at the end of the hallway. He waved happily at her and rushed towards her.

Valt: "Y/N! It's been a while. How've you been?"

Y/N: "I'm doing great. Is... Shu alright?"

Valt: "Umm... Well, I'm not sure. Pri's older brother, Pax, came here and observed our battles. And he said some unnecessary things to Shu."

Y/N crossed her arms and looked over at Shu, who still stared blankly at the stadium. Y/N uncrossed her arms and told Valt that she will take Shu out for a walk and have some fresh air than the underground ruin.

Valt nodded and will have a quick chat with the researchers as she takes Shu out. Y/N walked towards Shu and tapped him on the shoulder gaining his attention, snapping out of his thoughts.

Shu: "Y/N? What are you doing? Ah... When did you get here?"

Y/N: "I arrived a few minutes ago and the first thing I see is you sulking in front of the stadium. So, why don't you come with me and take a quick walk, yeah?"

Shu nodded and both walked out of the underground and walked on the street path. Both were quiet during the walk.

Y/N: "Shu, I can tell what you're thinking."

Shu: "What did you think I was thinking?"

Y/N sighed as she held a tiny smile on her face as she spoke his thought aloud.

Y/N: "You're thinking that you still feel responsible about that whole 'Res Eye' thing, correct? Or am I wrong?"

Shu stayed silent and nodded that she was right on the money.

Shu: "I... thought I might finally forget about that past and move on, yet when Pax showed up he reminded me of the time I hurt you guys. Especially you, Y/N."

Y/N stayed silent not looking at him, and thought back to the time that he pushed her away whenever she tried to help him.

She stopped her footing and turned to Shu with a serious look. She grabbed Shu by his shoulders and made him look back at him.

Y/N: "Shu. Listen to me. I never blamed you for that time. Neither does Valt or our friends. Valt still thought of you as our own even when you're mask was taken off. And just remember we'll be by your side for as long as it takes."

Shu looked down and nodded giving her a small smile. Y/N smiled brightly knowing Shu's spirit was lifted.

Y/N: "Now, wanna go get some ice cream? My treat!"

Shu smiled and nodded. Y/N grabbed his hand and both ran towards the town and find some ice cream.
