AUTHOR [P.O.V.]

A burst finish echoed around the top of the Ogre Mountain. The loser's face scrunched in surprise but hide it. The winner's Bey came flying back to their hand as they smiled victoriously.

Robot Ref: "Vex Lucius with a burst finish. Lain Valhalla Win."

Everyone present at the Ogre Mountain exclaimed in surprise. But the Legend, Lui Shirosagi, only laughed seeing as he found himself a new rival and said something to Lain before walking away.

As Lui left, Lain turned to his coach and threw his launcher back to him. As Shu caught it, the launcher broke, much to everyone's surprise except Shu. The dark flames appeared around Lain as he looked at Shu, his next target.

???: "You still haven't changed at all, Lain."

All: "Huh?"

Everyone turned to the new voice and heard footsteps coming closer to them from the stairwell. Lain narrowed his eyes at the newcomer's voice.

Hyuga: "Who's that?"

Lain: "What are you doing here, Y/N?"

The newcomer stepped on top of the mountain and revealed a H/C haired girl, with E/C eyes and a mask that covered half of her face, crossing her arms.

Y/N: "I heard that Free, one of the Legend Bladers, was defeated. And I thought you might have beaten him and seeing as you beat Lui Shirosagi another Legend. I guess I was right. I couldn't say I'm surprised you're still after the flame to burn brighter by defeating the Legends."

Lain narrowed his eyes. He grabbed his coat and walked away from the stadium, bumping against her shoulder as they locked eyes.

Lain: "So what? You know you're not strong enough to beat me. Under that mask proves it."

Y/N didn't show any emotions or say anything. But, she just closed her eyes and turned her head away, breaking contact.

Y/N: "Hmm."

Lain then walked away heading back down to the boat, that he and Shu used to get to Ogre Mountain.

Y/N [sigh]: "When is he gonna come out of his hole... Ugh. This is so frustrating."

Y/N rubbed her temples, trying to get rid of a sudden headache.

Shu: "Excuse me?"

Y/N stopped what she was doing and looked at Shu. She can't say that she was nervous about meeting her idol crush. But, lucky for her, she was a pro at keeping her emotions in.

Y/N: "Yes?"

Shu: "Hi. My name is Shu. How do you know Lain?"

Y/N: "I'm his old childhood friend, Y/N L/N. It's nice to meet you. Although, I should have made my appearance better."

Shu: "Well, it's nice to meet you too, Y/N. I'm his coach to help Lain with his flame. How about you come along with me and Lain?"

Y/N was surprised at this but she wanted to look after Lain as well as she had the same reason as Shu.

Y/N: "Huh? Uh, sure... I guess."

Shu said goodbye to his friends as they went back to Shu's and Lain's boat, and Lain was displeased that Shu invited his old friend on the boat.

Shu: "You've received that scar across your mouth by Lain?"

Y/N nodded. Right now, they were at a park while Lain went somewhere alone to train. Y/N told him the reason why she wanted to help Lain was that power wasn't everything.

She touched the scar on her lips recalling a small flashback of her and Lain's last battle before he left somewhere, leaving her behind.

Y/N: "I tried to help him the best I could but I was too weak back then and wasn't able to fulfil my own promise I made to myself. But, I'm glad that you decided to help him, Shu."

Shu: "Is that so?"

Y/N nodded. She put her mask back on and turned to Shu.

Y/N: "I'm glad you took Lain under your wing. I'm sure you could help him understand what Beyblading truly means."

Shu: "Sure."

Then they fell into a comfortable silence.

Y/N: "You got a plan to defeat Lain's Lucious? Seeing and hearing as he defeated Lui and Free. I'd really watched out for him."

Shu: "I don't have one yet. But, I know I need to train harder. Strong enough to defeat Lucious."

Y/N: "... Hmm."

The two sat on the park bench for a couple of minutes.

Shu: "What do you think of Lain right now?"

Y/N: "... Hmm. Well, he's just someone who relies on power too much and someone who only wants to take the spotlight of number 1. He needs someone to help him see the light and how fun Beyblading is. I hate seeing the darkness swallow him up."

Shu: "... So, you're that kind of person."

Y/N: "Huh?! What's that supposed to mean?"

Shu: "I mean you're a tough person yet a big softie on the inside."

Y/N paused at that and turned away. Embarrassed should she say.

Y/N: "And I thought Lain was the only one who could observe me better than anyone else. Should've doubted Shu Kurenai."

Shu huffed in amusement before he stood up. He turned to Y/N who looked at him confused.

Shu: "I'm gonna go and train and get ready and defeat Lain. You'll come and watch, right?"

Y/N stood up with a smile.

Y/N: "Of course. I have hopes for you Shu."

~TIMESKIP~

Honcho: "Lucious Endbringer... with a Burst Finish!"

At one of the stadiums, Honcho, Valt, The Cosmos and Y/N, were there to watch Shu beat Lain but in the 14th match, Shu lost with a Burst Finish. Lain thought that after finally defeating many Legend Bladers he was still frustrated that his Flare didn't grow. Lain walked away with a frustrated
expression. Shu walked away, a few minutes after Lain left and when he picked up Spryzen. Y/N quickly jogged after him with Valt following them behind.

Y/N: "You alright?"

Shu: "Yeah..."

The three went to a nearby bench as the sun sets behind them. Valt and Shu had a short convocation before all three went their ways. Y/N and Shu went the same way and decided to have a small talk.

Y/N: "So... now what are you going to do? The Tag-team tournament is coming up soon."

Shu: "... I'm still not giving up even after Lain defeated me. But, I do have an idea."

Y/N glanced at Shu before facing back front.

Y/N: 'I'll have faith in your plan.'

~COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER~

Y/N smiled at Shu, Lain and the Hizashi brothers having fun in the battle.
Y/N: "Finally... You're true flame appeared Lain."

The battle ended with the Hizashi brothers taking the win. The crowds around them cheered crazily at their win.

Y/N was outside the stadium, watching the sunset. Lain walked up next to her, as Henry popped out of his fur coat and padded over to Y/N's hand on the stone fence.

Y/N: "Nice battle out there."

Lain: "... Thanks."

The two stood still while watching the sunset while Lain tried to say something to his old childhood friend.

Lain: "Listen..."

Y/N: "Hm?"

Lain: "... I'm sorry for what I did to you that day."

A small flashback flashed in both of their minds the day Lain went crazy going after his flare.

Y/N: "It's fine. I've forgiven you a long time ago. It's not your fault. You weren't yourself that day."

Lain nodded but still felt bad.

Lain: "It's strange that I actually lost the tournament against those two."

Y/N: "Hmm. But I'm proud of you, Lain. You and Shu share the same Flare. Now you know what your true Flare is."

Lain looked over at Y/N before slightly smiling and nodding. Y/N heard a rush of footsteps and looked over her shoulder to see Hyuga and Hikaru and saw Shu and Valt not too far from them sitting near a bench. Y/N smiled at them and returned Henry back to Lain and walked over to Shu
and Valt.

Valt and Shu had a quick chat with Y/N about how Shu's plan helped Lain's true Flare appear the whole time, he pretended to be on his bad side again but not with a bad intention. It was an entertaining tournament for all the Bladers and the crowd.

Y/N and Shu were walking side by side while the sun was still setting.

Y/N: "Thanks for helping Lain showing what his true Flare was. If it wasn't for you to take in Lain as your student I don't know what would happen. I would pay you back for helping him but I don't know what you like."

Shu: "Ha... My pleasure. Since you want to repay me for helping Lain, maybe I'll take you on a date. If you are up for it. Maybe I might get to even see more of that tsundere side of yours."

Y/N: "Wha⎯?!"

Shu laughed at Y/N as she did little punches on him to stop messing with her. The date later was going to be interesting.
