Y/N finished dusting the bookshelves in the King's room. She climbed down the small ladder steps. Connecting with the floor she picked up her bucket and walked out of the room. Nodding to the guards standing by the door and walked down the long hallway heading to her room.

Greeting the other maids she made it to her room. Putting her supplies away in her closet, undressing herself and wore her outdoor outfit.

Finishing herself up, she paused when she heard her door knock. Opening the door and the prince himself was in front of her. Except he was dressed up as a commoner. Not in his prince outfit.

Y/N: "Oh, Shu! What are you doing here?"

Shu: "I was hoping to take you out. To take a walk around the town. Maybe a bit of window shopping."

Y/N: "Oh, that sounds lovely! Do your parents mind?"

Shu waved her off about his parents. Shu had difficult parents, especially his mother. She was a control freak. His father on the other hand was a gentle and kind man. And after Shu was born, he mostly had his father's side than his mother's.

Shu: "I've only told the father that I'd be going to the market. But not as a prince of course. I'll be like you dressed as a commoner. See what it's like."

Y/N: "Hmm, that doesn't sound bad. It's no wonder you're dressed up as a commoner."

Shu: "Yeah. I was also hoping that I could get you a new jewellery. That could match your necklace."

Shu pointed out at the H/C haired girl's necklace that was wrapped around her neck. Y/N had that necklace when she was a baby. She thought it was left by her parents. And it was the last thing that was left by them.

Y/N: "Yeah. I think that would be nice."

Shu smiled and guided Y/N out of her room and headed to the stables to grab a horse and head to the lively town.

While walking around in the town, Y/N listed down a couple of things on her list. Shu looked around with a smile on his face. Seeing his townspeople having a lovely day in his kingdom brings him joy.

Y/N: "... And then we'll go to the butcher's shop to buy more meat: 2 portions of beef and pork. And after that, we should be─... ah? Shu, why did you stop?"

Shu tugged their horse to stop, not replying to the maid. Y/N looked around to see all the townspeople stop what they were doing and looked over to where she and Shu were headed. Y/N looked over his shoulder and saw a herd of knight horses from the Ainotopia Empire.

They looked around the area as the townspeople moved out of the way. Their leader was looking dead ahead not bothered by the looks and whispers. The Ainotopia Empire was a guarded kingdom. They used to be a free kingdom and allow many kingdoms to celebrate with them and with many trades. But, they lost their princess 15 years ago.

What they know is that she was kidnapped when she was a baby not even day did her parents get to spend time with her. So, they closed off their kingdom from the other kingdoms. So this was the first time they had seen Ainotopians in a long time. Even if they were only knights, it was a shock to see Ainotopians.

Shu moved their horse to their side as they watched the Ainotopians knights gallop past them. Eyes filled with curiosity and anxiety. Y/N clutched Shu's sleeve wondering what they should do now.

Shu: "What are they doing here?"

Their eyes followed them and the townspeople went back to their business. Their curiosity still clouded their classroom.

Y/N: "I think we should head back to the castle. Maybe you should be with your parents and see what they want."

Shu nodded and turned their horse and galloped back to the castle as fast as they could whilst avoiding trouble.

Once arriving at the castle, they immediately changed back into their attire. Shu rushed to the throne room and Ainotopians Knights and his parents were already talking. And the room seemed serious.

King: "I'm not sure if I could help. It has been 15 years and we are not sure where she is."

Shu: "Father. Mother... Am I interrupting something?"

King: "Shu! My son. You are not interrupting anything. Come. Come and join us."

Shu nodded and sat in his rightful place next to his father. Y/N went to stand next to one of the guards.

Shu: "Can everyone please tell me what is going on? Why are the Ainotopians Knights in our kingdom?"

The leader of the Ainotopians Knights kneeled down and bowed to the prince and looked at him. His face filled with seriousness.

Ainotopia Leader: "We have gotten information that the princess of Ainotopia is here in this kingdom. It might be unbelievable but there is a chance she could be here. And we would like permission to have your men and mine search your kingdom."

The king rubbed his chin, lost in thought. The queen suggested that they should allow them and if they had wasted their time here then they should leave immediately. But the men ignored her and waited for the king's next words.

King: "Alright. I will send my troops to the town and help your guards. Leader, you may stay and help us scout the princess in our castle. Perhaps you will recognise her. I know you are in a good relationship with the Ainotopian Royals."

He nodded and stood up ordering his men to into town with the Shu's knights and they immediately set off.

The king asked his adviser to call all the female staff in the castle into the throne room. Y/N stood nervously as she watched the advisor dash out of the room to get all the staff.

Ainotopia Leader: "No, it's not her."

The leader shook his head and the advisor waved her off. She bowed and left the throne room. All the female staff were lined up and the leader had to see if he can recognise to see which one of them is the princess. And almost all the girls were out of the room. Y/N was the next one as the leader stared her down.

She swallowed her saliva. She stood her ground and raised her head up slightly making her necklace slowly revealed itself. His eyes widened at the sight of it. He turned to the other maids and sent them on their way.

Confusion filled her eyes as she watched the other staff leave the throne room. Leaving her, the advisor and the Ainotopia Leader. The advisor looked at the leader and asked if she was the one. And the Ainotopia Leader said yes without hesitation.

King: "So, I suppose Y/N is the lost princess?"

The leader nodded and placed a hand on the girl's shoulder, smiling at her. Like a proud brother. She was now dressed in a new outfit. And she never felt more royal than anyone.

They were all outside the castle. All the knights were getting ready to leave. The Ainotopia Leader is known as Aivar with his horse waiting to leave. Y/N was standing next to Shu as the adults were talking.

Aivar: "And now we shall take her back home. Thank you for taking care of her for all those years. And perhaps we shall see you all again in Ainotopia."

The king and Aivar continued talking for a while as Y/N and Shu were standing off to the side to have their own talk. They first stood in front of each, staying silent. Not sure what to say to each other. Shu started off first.

Shu: "So... I guess... I will see you soon?"

Y/N nodded trying to hold a smile for him. This was the first time they will be separated for a long time. They've spent every day together. They were inseparable. But this time they'll have to go apart for now.

Aivar: "Princess We must leave now."

Y/N: "Just give me a moment!"

Aivar hopped onto his horse waiting for the princess. Y/N turned to Shu and jumped into his arms catching him off guard. He returned the favour and pulled her tightly towards him. Not wanting to let her go.

Shu: "Promise me you'll send me letters?"

Y/N nodded against him. When they separated Y/N unexpectedly placed a kiss on his cheek. He felt his face grow warm and placed his hand where she kissed. She smirked and waved him off. Grabbing Aivar's hand and hopping onto the back of his horse they galloped away from the kingdom.

Looking back to see Shu and the King waving them goodbye. Y/N smiled back at them. Wishing them well she waved back. Looking forward to their visit.
