"You're next target is Shu Kurenai. The King of Raging Bulls. You understand the consequences correct? Fail. You will be executed. Fulfil the task. You will be rewarded greatly."

Those were the words of her boss. Y/N was a female ninja or otherwise known as Kunoichi. She is a ninja assassin. She was tasked to kill King Shu. It was midnight, silence entering the night, the owls hooting and crickets chirping.

A shadow skips past the roofs of the houses heading towards the palace. Landing on the balcony the curtains waved by the wind. Footsteps echoed in the large room, the blade shimmering from the moonlight. Looming over the sleeping King, Y/N raised her blade above him ready to strike.

Y/N: 'Apologies, Your Majesty.'

Y/N struck her blade down towards his chest. Y/N let out a gasp as a hand grabbed her wrist stopping her. Her eyes turned to see Shu now fully awake.

Y/N snatched her hand away and took a jump back, her stance in a fighting position. Shu got out of his bed standing a bit away from her.

Shu: "Y/N. It's nice to see you again."

Y/N huffed and relaxed removing half mask down and revealing her full face glaring at the King.

Y/N: "It would've been nice if you stayed asleep and allowed me to do my job. You know what happens if I don't do this."

~6 MONTHS AGO~

Jji: "Welcome! My name is Jinemon Daizora. I am Bel's grandfather. Please call me Jiji if you wish."

Y/N: "Thank you for having me."

Y/N took an undercover mission as a maid at Daizora's palace, also the Prince is known as the Dark Prince. Except he's just a kid who only pranks people. She was tasked to steal some sort of book that had all the royal details in it.

They decided to use this as an advantage. Simple really, raid the kingdom, take back what was theirs and whatnot. She had already been given the layout of the castle.

Jiji: "Since it's your first day. You can clean Young Master's room and the guest rooms. Jin will help you get the cleaning supplies and help you with the guest rooms."

Y/N bowed in thanks and went with Jin to get the supplies. Jin escorted Y/N to Bel's room, which was a complete mess. The two started cleaning the room. Y/N was organizing the clothes in the wardrobe as Jin handled grooming the floor.

Y/N: "Is the prince always this messy?"

Jin [chuckles]: "Yes, it may be kind of annoying but the Young Master loves to prank people and sometimes he picks up a couple of things for us to clean less."

Y/N glanced at Jin to see her turn her back on her. Y/N saw in the corner of the wardrobe she saw her clans mark and saw an item attached to it. A key, specifically with a note. Grabbing the key and the note she closed the wardrobe and turned to Jin saying she will start cleaning the guest rooms as she heard from Jiji that the quest will come quickly.

Jin: "Oh that's right! Perhaps you should clean the guest room that's on your left two doors away from the Young Masters."

Y/N nodded, picked up her cleaning supplies and headed towards that room. Opening the door and saw quite a few messy places.

Y/N: 'Seems the Young Master really likes jumping on beds and leaving a mess. Great...'

Y/N started cleaning the bed, leaving it neat and tidy. Finished cleaning the floor. She then took a look around the room and searched if there was anything left by her clan which there wasn't. Y/N stood straight scratching her cheek in confusion.

Y/N: 'That's strange.'

???: "Excuse me? Are you looking for something?"

Y/N flinched and turned her head to see a person leaning against the doorway. He wore fancy attire, albino hair and crimson eyes. His hair slightly covers the right side of his eye. Y/N narrowed her eyes at him. She turned to him and bowed in respect. As she was standing in front of King Shu.

Y/N: "No, I am not. My apologies, I just had to double-check, knowing Master Bel. He might have done something."

Shu chuckled and shrugged his shoulders in response. Y/N stood up straight, picked up her supplies, and walked out of the room.

Y/N: "Have a nice day, Your Majesty."

Shu: "See you soon."

Y/N quickly walked away glancing over her shoulder to see Shu still watching her, giving her shivers.

Y/N: 'What's up with him?'

She ignored him and continued on and focused on her mission.

Dinner had started and all the royals and the staff were gathered. Y/N was nowhere to be seen. She was in her room, dressed in her assassin attire. Opening her window and sneaking out to the top of the palace.

Stopping at a light shining through from one of the windows. Stopping and looked through the windows that led to the dining hall, to see everyone enjoying themselves, arguing, and laughing. Y/N sometimes wished that her clan would be like this but that would never happen in a millennium.

Y/N swiftly moved passed the windows seeing as everyone was busy focusing on the performance. But crimson eyes spotted her before paying back towards Bel. Making it to the top, landing on the balcony she walked over to a door, the room only had a dressing table with a vase with a rose in it.

Y/N: "Out of budget already?"

Taking out the key she had received and used it to unlock the door. Opening it and inside she saw there were a bunch of gold a couple of gems and of course a huge chest that had no lock on it.

Y/N: 'I swear if that child put something stupid inside.'

Opening the chest she found the book she was looking for, picked it up looking at it with a deadpan look.

Y/N: 'Kids like him are weird. Surprised there are no traps.'

Taking the book and walking away from the room. Hopping on the edge of the balcony and looking at the moonlight. She sighed and went swiftly on her way.

Y/N: 'Disappearing on the first day. Hmm.'

Jiji went towards Y/N's room knocking on it.

Jiji: "Miss Y/N? Are you alright? You didn't come to the dining hall last night."

No one answered making Jiji go suspicious and also getting concerned. He started to grab the doorknob but was stopped by Shu.

Shu: "Hello, Jiji. Have you seen the maid with H/C hair colour?"

Jiji: "You mean, Miss Y/N? This is her room but she doesn't seem to be answering."

Shu raised a brow and went over to the door and opened the door not bothering to wait for Y/N to open up. Once opening the door he saw it was empty the room untouched and only the maid outfit left on the bed folded with no note. Shu scrunched his face and rushed away to his room.

Shu: "I'm going to go search for her. Don't tell anyone where I went."

Jiji nodded as he watched Shu leave in a rush.

Grabbing some supplies and left his room on his way to the stables. Arrived there getting the horse ready and was ready to leave but he was suddenly stopped by Valt and Bel. Valt smiled while Bel looked displeased.

Bel: "And where do you think you're going? Taking my horse without the Dark Prince's permission?"

Shu: "That I can't tell you. I'll be back soon. It's urgent."

Bel stared at him intensely before smirking and crossing his arms and closing his eyes.

Bel: "Then I approve. I won't you if it's something urgent."

Valt: "Good luck, Shu!"

Valt gave him a thumbs up. Shu smiled at them gratefully. Hopping on his horse and he was on his way. Although Shu doesn't exactly knows where he was going but he did have one idea. Something that was related to the shadow last night.

Y/N was sitting on a bar stool while everyone else was celebrating early to a close victory against the Royals. Her boss, Nevaeh Claw, lifted his cup up while women were cuddling against him making her mentally gag.

Nevaeh: "In a few days, we will conquer over the Royals and get rid of them for good! Cheers to the Shadow Serpents!"

Everyone: "Cheers to Shadow Serpents."

Everyone went back to drinking, messing around, laughing and whatnot. Y/N sighed and took a drink from hers. Then Nevaeh came over with the girls still cuddling against him.

Nevaeh: "Well done, Y/N. For your reward how about spending the night with me? It'll be fun."

Y/N slammed her cup against her table, glaring at him. Only a few people had the guts to go against Nevaeh. And she was one of them.

Y/N: "For the last time, not interested. Unless you want to get beaten to the pulp again?"

Nevaeh lifted his hands, while mentally sweating nervously. He remembered the first time he tried to bang Y/N it did not end well. Y/N sighed in frustration along with exhumation and got up leaving her cup cold.

Kicking the pub door open letting the cold air hitting against her face. The sunset reflected her skin, feeling as if it was burning her. Walking to a nearby hillside, that held a great view of the sunset.

Y/N: 'Haa... this is annoying.'

While being lost in her thoughts, she heard some galloping behind her. She turned her head in curiosity. Her eyes widened like saucers seeing Shu Kurenai on a horse galloping towards her. Seeing him made her stand up in shock.

Shu: "Y/N! There you are! I was worried for you."

Getting off his horse he ran towards her. Y/N frantically looked behind and everywhere around her if anybody was watching. When Shu got to Y/N she immediately grabbed his wrist and jogged over to his horse getting on and Shu followed sitting behind her.

Y/N grabbed the reigns she started to get away from her home, with Shuasking her questions.

Y/N: "Why are you here?!"

Shu: "As I said, I was worried for you! And came looking for you thinking someone kidnapped you but it seems that's not the case."

Y/N sighed and stopped the horse seeing as they were far enough from her home. Getting off the horse, she pulled Shu's arm making him fall onto the floor on his back. Hissing from the pain he looked up at Y/N glaring down at him.

Y/N: "You shouldn't be even worried about me. And above all that come even looking for me."

Shu: "Well can you blame me for that? You just up and left no note or anything. You should blame that on yourself."

Y/N looked away, mentally cursing herself for forgetting to put a note. I mean it was her first day, should've written before disappearing in the middle of the night.

Y/N: "Point taken... But besides that point! You shouldn't even be worried about me."

Shu chuckles, standing up and brushing himself off. He placed a hand on her shoulder in reassurance. Y/N lifted her face, eyes staring into his crimson ones.

Shu: "I would worry anyone in this situation. Friend or foe."

Y/N: Hmm... what made you come here? No one has ever been able to find this place."

Shu: "Simple really. Seeing a shadow swiftly moving past the windows, it was night, and could only explain there was a ninja plus Ninjas live in forests or in villages but nowadays they live in forests. So that was the best bet I got. And I came here once with Ukio before things got... they divided."

Y/N: "... Okay... whatever you say. But you need to go. Unless you want to get killed."

Shu didn't budge and the two went into a staring contest until one of them blinked. Y/N sighed and turned to the horse petting its nose.

Shu: "You stole something from Bel's castle. What did you steal?"

Y/N: "Why should I tell you?"

Y/N snapped at Shu but calmed down and continued petting the horse.

Y/N: "I stole a book. That read everything about you and the rest of the royals. I don't even know why Bel has it. I expected Wakiya to have it but apparently, the Dark Prince had it. For some reason."

Y/N muttered the last part that Shu didn't hear.

Shu: "Why would you need the book of Royals?"

Y/N: "You're smart, aren't ya? You should know why."

Shu stayed silent and thought of a reason. He deeply stared into her E/C eyes.

Shu: "You're trying to take over our kingdom aren't ya."

Y/N shrugged and nodded.

Shu: "Makes more sense. This isn't the first time this happened. But with the book, it'll be difficult."

Y/N: "We ninjas and Kunoichis have developed a lot more than you remember."

Shu: "Yet, I still caught you."

Y/N grumbled under her breath. She lets the horse go and turned to Shu. Placing her hands on her hips staring into his eyes.

Y/N: "You need to go. That's all the info I'm going to give you."

Shu sighed in defeat, hopping on his horse. He looked at Y/N with a reassuring smile.

Shu: "Will I see you there?"

Y/N: "In the middle of a raid? On the brink of death? Sure. Maybe even see you while you go to sleep till your death."

Shu smirked and went on his way, waving goodbye. Y/N rolled her eyes and went back home.

Y/N leaned against the wall of the room. Shu sitting on his bed, smiling too happily.

Y/N: "You shouldn't even be pleased to see me. And the raid is tomorrow."

Shu: "I know that. I'm happier to see you than be worried about the raid."

Y/N raised a brow and scoffed at him. Turning away embarrassed. Getting off the wall and walked towards him sitting next to him, leaning forward and intertwining her hands together.

Y/N: "You know my clan is this close to finding out I betrayed them. They've already started creating underground tunnels, they're probably right underneath us right now."

Shu nodded, grabbing his chin, and thinking about what he should do about it. He turned to Y/N who was still deep in thought.

Shu: "You're skilled in the dark, correct?"

Y/N: "Hmm, yeah?"

Y/N stared at Shu as he smirked. Y/N narrowed her eyes at him as he smiled.

Y/N: "You trying to get me killed?"

Shu shook his head and wrapped an arm around his shoulder giving her a reassured smile.

Shu: "I know you can do this. You've told me you have gotten become a pro. That the others couldn't even catch you."

Y/N: "I hate you."

Y/N glared at him and he only smiled and kissed her forehead. Pressing his cheek against her head. She looked away puffing her cheeks.

Shu: "I love you too."
