quick a/n: hi guys! long time no update, since i really lost interest in tvd/to but then i started rewatching (ofc the parts w kol) & i feel like continuing this story :) i'm not sure how long this book is necessarily going to be, because i want to end at the end of the originals. most likely, i'll have clara be in the eps/seasons that kols in. but it's been kind of boring to write without kol, (maybe that's why i lost inspo?) so i'm going to be skipping around quite a bit. this chapters starting at ep 02.04!

"𝘿𝘼𝙑𝙄𝙉𝘼? 𝙌𝙐𝙄𝙏𝙀 𝙇𝙄𝙏𝙀𝙍𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙔 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙔𝙊𝙉𝙀 𝙄𝙎 looking for you right now, where the hell are you?"

Clara desperately clasped the phone in her hand as she had it pressed against her ear. She was worried for her friend, because apparently she was gone without a trace with a valuable weapon that could kill Klaus. And although Clara still practically hated the man with everything in her, he had been helpful the past few weeks of her transition to being a hybrid.

"Lara, I need your help..."

Clara swallowed some nervousness that crept in her throat, and now she was just waiting for Davina to continue her statement in hopes it would calm her down.

"Davina, what happened?" Clara questioned, and she started pacing back and forth in the small room of the Mikaelson home.

She had picked it because of the way the sun flowed into the room every morning at the same time with the same amount of brightness. It would always put her in a lighter mood for the day, and now more than ever she needed that. She littered the walls with different paintings of artists everywhere, along with some of her favorite records.

"I'll text you the address. I already talked to Kaleb, and he's coming up here to help me out too, can you pick him up?"

Clara liked Kaleb. He was witty, charming, and funny. But after Kol, she couldn't quite open up her heart yet. And she couldn't tell if this was some plan Davina had to try to force the two of them together.

"Are you—"

"—Please, Lara," Davina interrupted, and groggily Clara pinched the bridge of her nose. Knowing that her friend was in trouble and needed help, and she wasn't going to turn it down.

Hopefully, Kaleb wouldn't be flirty.

"You know, love, we don't have to just sit in this silent car for almost four hours."

Clara glanced from staring at the passing green trees that had some leaves turning into a nice yellow or orange, and towards Kaleb. He was driving an old fashioned car that she swore Damon would've loved, and that she secretly enjoyed too. The two had just started their long trip towards the family cabin that Davina was supposedly staying at with, get this, Klaus's father.

"Sorry," Clara flashed a quick, apologetic smile as she leaned forward, switching the radio on. It wasn't a song she recognized before, so she went back to leaning her arm against the handle to prop her chin up, staring at the evading scenery.

"Did I do something to offend you?"

Clara once again turned away from the glass window, and she tilted her head to the side a bit with confusion.

"What do you mean?" Clara shrugged softly, furrowing her eyebrows as she didn't quite understand.

"One second we were having fun on a date, and then the next, you're just...whatever this is," Kaleb stated, and he torn his eyes from the road they were driving on to stare at Clara for a moment.

She felt bad. She didn't mean to necessarily lead the boy on, to think she had feelings for him and wanted something more, but ever since she turned into a hybrid her feelings for Kol only amplified. She missed him, his smell, his body, his laughter and smile, his everything.

"Look," Clara sighed, and she glanced down to her slender fingers fiddling with each other. "I got out of a really...long relationship, awhile back. And, it hasn't been easy, obviously."

Clara was mentally facepalming herself for how awkward and fumbly she was acting, but somehow she still couldn't get the right sentences to come together.

"I don't mean to just, lead you on," Clara continued, this time earning the confidence to glance up to Kaleb. "I just need time, I guess."

"I understand," Kaleb nodded, and he flashed her a nice smile, which made her feel a little bit better. "I, uh, actually just got out of a relationship myself."

"Really?" Clara questioned, and she felt more like herself knowing she wasn't the only one going through something like this. "You seem, so, okay though."

"I like showing people the idea I'm okay with it," Kaleb answered, but it almost sounded like he was letting out a sigh. When he gazed over to Clara, he noticed how intently interested her blue eyes were focused on him. "She was my everything, my world. I kind of blew it."

"I'm sure whatever happened wasn't your fault, and I bet she understands that too," Clara smiled sympathetically, and she placed a hand nicely on Kaleb's arm to give it a reassuring squeeze.

"I wish it were that way," Kaleb mumbled softly under his breath, and the way he sounded so sad almost made Clara's heart break into two. "I don't think she could ever forgive me."

"You know what you need?" Clara stated simply as she moved her hand away from Kaleb's arm. "Closure. You gotta talk to her, you know? Apologize for whatever happened, so then you can move on, or at least forgive yourself.

"You know, you're pretty good at advice," Kaleb smiled, and it seemed like the conversation was lightening up some, which put both the witch and the hybrid into a more happier mood.

"I get that a lot."

a/n pt 2: sorry this is much shorter than my other chapters, i'm used to writing short chapters because of my other books so i'm trying to adjust better😂
honestly, all your amazing comments brought me back and got me wanting to finish this book really badly. you guys are so nice and it honestly makes my day whenever i see a new comment!
