Sleeping peacefully in her bed, Sarang was snuggling a pillow to her chest. The sun was grinning through her blinds. Usually, waking up was a simple task for her; she was a morning person after all.

Sarang pov

The piercing sound of the alarm clock brought me back from the dead of sleep. I started to wiggle and stretch within my cosy, warm, haven that is my bed. Parts of my body were gradually turning on.

Picking up my alarm clock on the nightstand, I looked at the time.

"Ugh, why is it so early?"

I positioned my clock back on the surface and slowly began to sit up.

Beep beep beep

My ears caught the faint sound of something beeping.

It took some time for my not-so-long-ago shut-down brain to begin processing...

"It caught the signals again!"

I ran down the stairs when-

"Ahhhh"

In slow motion — first on my shoulder as I slam into the hallway corner.

Yes, I fell down the stairs.

There is no elegant way to accomplish such a stunt except to try not to groan or cry when you finally come to a termination.

The hardest part of this stunt is to gather ourselves up.

I groaned and limped across the hall towards my research room.

I'm unstoppable today~

I opened the door to the room and what I saw made me cry out loud.

"Oh my God, I succeeded, finally!"

The green screen of the desktop which had been always blank now displayed a map.

The radar now had a blinking point on it meaning it had tracked a foreign entity.

I scrolled through the map to see where the entity was located. The red pin point which indicates the destination has Tiankeng Forest written underneath.

I googled it.

"The Tiankeng forest which is also known as the Heavenly Pit"

"It's a.. 4-hour drive from here?!"

Today is Saturday and I have a half day at university. I would return by noon and then go for the expedition!

Time skip at 12:30

I get ready with my Camera, torch and tracker. I skip around with excitement overflowing.

The car tires came to a halt, the dry branches and leaves cracking underneath.

Wind bustled through the tributaries of the trees, making the leaves howl in their symphony.

The rustle of the stale leaves beneath my feet is soothing. They soar up with every shuffle I take. Walking in the woods is pure serenity. The periwinkle blue sky is so clear, I feel like this is all my fantasy. When I stop striding the sound ceases and all I can hear is nature.

Concentrating on the tracker, it displayed that the distance between me and the object is 20 metres ahead.

My breathing becomes heavy with every step I take.

There...

There lay a flawless, radiant, luminous, dazzling green ring.

I gently picked it up with a tissue and sealed it in a translucent foil and tucked it in my pocket.

The things I felt were very hard to describe.

Eager to escape this beautifully dangerous forest I sped my car through the road surrounded by greenery.

Time skip at home

I put my key in the hole and turned it to the left. The door opened, hence allowing darkness to swallow me.

I switched the light on. It was 1 o clock. Although I'm extremely tempted to take the ring to the research room, I decided against it. I decided to skip dinner as my eyes dropped and my body arched wanting a shutdown.

I paddled to my room and slowly brought the ring out of my pocket. Not wanting the precious thing out of my sight, I kept it on my nightstand.

My eyes snap open, covered in a cold sweat, trembling, and my heart thumping. Jeez, it must be 100 degrees here. Looking around the room suspiciously my gaze landed on the

Green ring.

The ring glowed brightly. A drop of sweat trickled down. It seemed that the brightness increased, every second.

It glowed brighter and brighter. The ring flashed.

My mind slipped out of consciousness.

I fell asleep.....
