β†’Λšβ‚ŠΒ· ܴೈ Oh really? The last time I checked, you are the one who rarely pays attention. It's always the Captian smolder... ❞

ELAIN SAT LISTENING to the sounds of giggling as she sat on the ground, the moonlight gleaming in the window. She had an eventful time recently. A tragedy had struck in her family, when the Dark Elves' raided Asgard, Frigga was killed by Algrim while protecting Jane Foster. Elain had gone to the funeral after Steve convinced her he could watch the two kids.

It had been two years since the battle of New York, Elain was now twenty-six her adoptive kids were now seven and three. And over the two-year time span, Elain had learned that Camilo had an ability as well. She had been dating Steve for nearly two years now and things couldn't get any better.Β

Elain wasn't wearing any type of day clothing or anything that was truly fancy. Simply a pair of workout shorts and the shirt Steve had given her to wear when they had first met. In her defense, both of her kids were also in pajamas, one in a yellow onesie and the other in a pair of green dinosaurs.Β

"Bruno! Stop trying to make Camilo shapeshift into Luke Skywalker," Elain let out a small laugh as she turned her head.

Camilo let out a loud laugh as he clapped his hands while Bruno smiled shyly, "I didn't do anything."

"Sure you didn't," Elain rose to her feet as she placed her hands on her hips.Β

Bruno had grown a bit taller and definitely a lot lankier. Elain didn't know if that was a bad thing but upon researching, she found out that it was common in some kids. His hair had grown a bit longer, resting to his shoulders in wild curls, Elain told him that whenever he wanted to cut it, just to let her know.

Camilo was almost a spitting image of what Bruno had looked like when Elain had first found them. Though he had a bit of a smaller nose and his curls were more of a dark brown. He often liked to morph his nose and mouth into a duck's beak, that was how Elain found out about his ability.

The boys had been playing an array of games throughout the day. Elain had played Just Dance with Bruno and Camilo, helping the much smaller boy out. They had also played games such as chess, hide and seek, tag, and sorry. It was fun to just mess around.Β

"When is papa going to be home?" Bruno began to question.

Over time, Bruno had grown much closer and opened up more to both Elain and Steve. Elain was happy, it brought joy to her heart knowing that everyone had been making progress.

"I'm not so sure, my youngΒ padawan," Elain gave him a grin, "But I do know that it is getting quite late.Β

"Nooo! I don't wanna go to sleep yet," Bruno pouted as he ran and hugged Elain's waist, who simply laughed and patted his back.

"No sleep!" Camilo grumbled out in his babyish tone.

Elain chewed on her lip as she shook her head, "Both of you are a mess. I'll read a story to you both tonight and I'll get you your favorite treat tomorrow if you go to sleep," Elain bribed.

Seemingly it did the trick. She knew that Steve was on a mission with Natasha for a bit so he'd be back probably in the next day or so. He'd be able to help handle the madness of the household.

"Are we still going to seeΒ nuestros padres tomorrow?" Bruno questioned softly.

Elain nodded her head, "Yes. We can take new flowers out to the cemetery," She leaned down and kissed his head.

It was a tradition for every two weeks unless Bruno or Camilo wanted to go sooner, to place new flowers on the graves of their family. With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s help, Elain had found them and convinced someone to help her give them a proper burial so that both the kids could at least see something of their parents.

Elain made sure that over time as she raised the two, they knew that their parents love them and that they were watching over them. She didn't pressure them into considering her as their mother or Steve as their father, she was letting them figure out what they wanted her to be over time.

Elain watched as Bruno finally let go of her before she offered him a hand, which he took in his smaller one. She gave him a small smile before she scooped up Camilo and placed him on her hip before he had the chance to run.

"Off to bed, we go," Elain grinned.Β

Elain led the two to their shared room, Elain promised that soon they'd get somewhere new to live and they'd get separate rooms.

Elain helped Bruno in his bed first before she placed Camilo down on his. Looking over the children's books before she heard Camilo clap, something he often did to get her attention.

"Can you tell us your own story?" He attempted to say every word right, but he struggled.

Elain tilted her head with a soft grin, "Are you sure? I don't want to bore you with my not-so-fun adventures!"

Bruno looked over at his little brother and stage-whispered, "MamΓ‘ miente, Β‘sus aventuras son geniales!"

"Hey! You forget I know most languages due to my studies in Asgard," Elain faked a pout, "I can't believe you'd call me a liar."

"SorryΒ MamΓ‘ but you have great adventures," Bruno apologized, Elain realized the look on his face and quickly smiled.

"I'm not being serious, Bruno. I know," Elain quickly reassured him, "Look at me! Breaking my own rules and tricking my dear children."

"Dios," Little Camilo pouted, clearly growing impatient, "I wanna story, pleaseeee!" He gave his little puppy dog eyes.

Elain shook her head with a small smile, "Fine," She hummed before sitting on the edge of Camilo's bed, "Hmmm, what story should I share?"

"Tell us the one when the mighty Thor fought the mischevious Loki!" Bruno clearly got excited with his request.

"Alright, well, it began not so long ago. Asgard, 2011. Uncle Thor and his friends, Sif,Β Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg returned to Asgard via Bifrost along with me," She began the story as she waved her hands causing the lights to go off.

"What's the Bifrost?" Camilo questioned as he adjusted his head on his tiny pillow.

Elain looked at Bruno, knowing he had an answer, and gave him a nod, "It's okay. Tell him, Bruno, if you want. I don't want you to feel pressured but I saw your excitement when he asked."

Bruno seemed happy that he was allowed to explain, "Hermano, it's a rainbow bridge that connects Asgard to realms like here! Earth or as they know it, Midgard."

Elain gave him a proud smile, "That's my little man," She laughed.

"If that's what it is, where is it?" Little Camilo questioned.

"You'll see as I continue the story," Elain leaned back onto Camilo's bed as she made sure not to crush the boy, "We had arrived back on Asgard, Heimdall was on the ground clearly hurt. It was hard to look at and Uncle Thor told us to leave my Uncle Loki to him," She explained.

Telling these stories felt odd. She could remember them as if they happened yesterday. Fresh wounds that rested within her. She wasn't sure she had even told Steve a few of these stories, but, Elain sucked it up for the happiness of the kids she was raising.

"I ran to the Royal Palace of Valaskjalf, which is..." Elain went back to sitting in an upright position as she pointed between the two boys.

"Where you lived!" Camilo recalled with a grin which was interrupted by a yawn.

"Correct," Elain let out a small laugh, "I tried to find help but I was scared. I will admit, I was really scared and crying. The only people who had ever been there for me were fighting, I hadn't seen my brother in a while and it really had hurt me."

Elain took a deep breath as images of that day flashed in her head. Images of her brother's looks he'd sneak her while holding her. The bridge exploding. Thor's expression when telling the twins Loki was 'gone'.

"I didn't stop though. I pushed myself off the ground and ran to get to my Uncles. I stopped upon seeing the cracks that began to form in the rainbow bridge. I wasn't sure I'd make it back across to Asgard and I wasn't sure if I'd make it back to earth," Elain sighed as she began to stare off, "But alas, my brother was there as he always had been."

Elain noticed how Bruno's tired eyes began to glow a bit green. It caused her to freeze slightly, but the tears that had pooled in her eyes burned. She looked at Camilo who's head was slumped over as he began to doze off.

"It's okay," Bruno spoke softly as he adjusted himself in his bed, "You don't have to continue."

Elain carefully rose from Camilo's bed as she moved closer to Bruno's before crouching down at it, "Are you sure? I can continue until you fall asleep."Β

"I'm sure and don't worry aboutΒ mΓ, the vision was nothing bad," Bruno's hand grabbed the woman's, "Can you make the stars?"

Bruno had become accustomed to Elain's anxiety. It had gotten worse after the battle of New York. She had more people to worry about, and more to protect. So he knew when he had a vision, and she noticed, he had to make sure to let her know if it was bad or good.

"You want me to make the stars?" Elain questioned with a soft laugh, "Is that what it will take for you to now fall asleep?"

Bruno nodded his head eagerly and Elain bit back a smirk. She flipped her hand that he held, making it where his hand was cupping the back of hers with her palm facing the ceiling. She concentrated on summoning the celestial energy as it began to pool in her hands.

"Woah," Even after the many times Bruno had the woman do this, he never ceased to be amazed.

"I know, it's cool, right?" Elain smiled softly as the energy formed into glistening stars.

Elain let the boy attempt to mess around with the energy before it disappeared, he looked a bit sad but Elain was quick to press a kiss to his forehead.

"It's nighttime, sweetie. We can do more tomorrow, I promise," She hums softly before she moves to press a kiss to the sleeping Camilo's head, "I'll see you in the morning."

"Nighty-night," The tired voice of Bruno met her ears.

Elain closed the door to the boys' room quietly. Her feet padding softly against the floor. Walking out of the room before moving back to the files she had from S.H.I.E.L.D. of possible ways that the two had received abilities.

One theory was that maybe their parents had been descendants of believers in HYDRA, another was that they had gotten into some kind of chemical. But, Elain believed that it was either pure luck or they were blessed.

Elain put a headphone in one ear, connecting them to her phone so that she could listen to music. She left one-off just to make sure she could hear the two kids in case they woke up or needed something or in case someone broke in.

In the Heights blasted through her ears as her fingers were moving nimbly across the papers. She wasn't sure how long she had been looking over the papers, but, apparently, it was quite a while.

"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Steve's voice caused her to look up and take out one of her headphones.

Elain furrowed her eyebrows, "You..."

"I'm not back early," Steve seemed to know her words before they left her lips, "I was just coming to check in before going back to my apartment. But it seems you are awake."

Elain looked back at the clock, two-forty-five am, "Ah. Well, you could stay the night, the boys have been dying to see you. They were quite upset you were on a mission," Elain hummed as she opened her arms for a hug.

Steve clearly tried not to smile but failed, he walked over to her and pulled her into an embrace, "I would take you up on that offer, but I have to go to S.H.I.E.L.D. tomorrow."

"So do we," Elain mumbled as she pulled away, taking his hand, "The boys are having their usual checkups and a few tests done."

"We can go in together then," He kissed her head.

Elain gave a smile before rolling her neck, "You know, you are technically my first boyfriend," She spoke randomly.

"Oh really?" Steve questioned, Elain must've never said this before.

"Mhm. My brother never let me get involved with people. I never really had any interest in it anyway," Elain shortly explained.

Steve nodded as his smile began to rest, "You are my first official girl," He seemed to feel like he had to say this.

"Steve, I know," Elain resisted the urge to let out a laugh, "I remember your stories about Peggy."

"You actually paid attention," Steve teased before continuing, "I thought you were too busy messing around with the stars."

Elain made a face of fake hurt, "Oh really? The last time I checked, you are the one who rarely pays attention. It's always the Captian smolder," She tried to recreate his facial expressions causing him to laugh before she shushed him, "The kids are asleep."

"Sorry, El," Steve booped her nose causing the blood to rush to her face.

She waved him off, "Perfectly fine. Now, I think we should get some sleep," She pointed at him as if saying he needed it more, "So get changed, Cap. You've got some clothes in my room."

"Alright ma'am," Steve shook his head as he began to walk to her room.

Elain rose to her feet before putting the files up, moving them to where she knew that the kids wouldn't find them. She stood to herself for a second as she listened to the shuffle of Steve's steps. She loved her life, she truly did.

Elain moved to wait outside of the door to her room, but, she didn't have to wait long. Steve opened the door about a minute later before allowing her in. She moved to her designated side of the bed, moving the covers back before flopping down with a sigh of relief.

"Comfortable?" Steve questioned as he began to get in bed as well.

"Perfectly comfortable. Just excellent," Elain hummed as she smiled before moving closer to Steve.

"Good."Β
