The LaRusso home was beautiful, it truly was. It was large and looked like it belonged to a family that was stuck up and full of themselves. A gentle hand ran across the wall, feeling the outside of the house. The chipped, ridiculously cheap nail polish caused a streak to form on the wall in the slightest. Voices were heard from the backyard, a dark eye peaking through one of the cracks to see what was going on.

Daniel was mid lecture to Demetri when the sound of the gate being pulled open was heard. They both turned, looking at a small girl that hurried in and shut the door behind her. Her skin was tanned, her hair bleached to a blonde color but her roots were growing out a dark brown. She were a white shirt, a pair of black jeans to go with it.

Demetri looked at the blue combat boots she paired with it.

"Oh, hello." Daniel greeted her. She was breathing heavy, like she was about to cry. No, she wasn't about to cry, she was out of breath.

She'd been running, but from what?

"Hey." she said back, peaking behind her a moment before stepping closer into the backyard, "Sick backyard you've got."

"Thank you!" Daniel said, trying to seem more enthusiastic. Demetri held the paint brush in his hand, watching her a moment, "Are you here to join karate?"

"What?" she asked quickly before scanning her eyes over the backyard, a small dojo behind her, "Well, duh, why else would I be here?"

Daniel laughed at her, "Well, okay. What's your name?"

"Fleur." she answered fast, too fast. Fleur looked over her shoulder once again, toward the gate. That was, until the new voice cut in.

"Oh! Like the sexy vella girl on Harry Potter." Demetri confirmed with a lopsided grin, leaning his weight on one leg and attempting to swing the paint brush around his fingers, only having it drop. Fleur blinked his way a moment, a forced laugh before she noticed Daniel looking at her bags.

"Oh, it's not weapons." she said fast as he gave a even more alarmed look, "The family in my apartment refused to move out so their being forced to right now. Cant get in there unless everything is out."

"Oh, cool." Daniel nodded, a minor sigh of relief at her words, "Where'd you move from?"

"NewPort." she said with a nod, her thumb moving like something was in her hands, "Um, how much is this going to cost?"

"Nothing, completely free." he spoke with a nod, waving her over in no time. Fleur dropped the two bags in her hands, her skateboard falling with it. Her shoes brought her over as he pulled a slip of paper from his back pocket, "Your parent will just have to sign this, making sure it's okay for you to be here, and trust the process."

"Here, you can have my paint brush." Demetri said, holding out the brush to her while Daniel headed off to grab another. Fleur eyed it oddly then met his eyes, "Muscle memory apparently, I think it's stupid."

"A little." Fleur agreed, taking the brush from his hands, "Is this all you do? Paint the fence?"

"Well, i've also sanded the deck." he said, leaning onto the fence and crossed his lanky arms, attempting to look cool as Fleur dipped the brush into the paint, "Newport, huh? Rhode Island is the smallest state, did you know that?"

"I did." Fleur nodded her head, she looked over forward where she'd walked in at again before turning back to him with a mocking look, "Did you know that you are leaning on wet paint?"

Demetris face fell as he leaned off the fence, seeing the side of his shirt was now covered in the light blue paint. Fleur had to snort as he looked down at it, "Have fun getting that one out."

"Actually paint is very easy to remove from clothes. A little hairspray, which I never use." Demetri rambled, running a hand through his hair and showing the density of it, "See?"

"I do see." Fleur said. Fleur thought Demetri was weird and the oddest person she'd ever know. But from what she'd gone through, he'd been the first form of comfort she'd revived in a while.

"All right, here." Daniel spoke, jogging toward them and handing Demetri the new paintbrush, "Show her the ropes."

Demetri huffed as he looked over at Fleur, a fake enthusiastic smile on his face as he ran the paint brush down the fence, "How cool is that? This will definitely help learn to kick ass and take names."

"Take ass, kick names instead." Fleur confirmed with a nod of her head, using the same motion he did to paint the fence. Daniel gave a silent yell from behind them, throwing his hands up in disbelief and heading off to pretend he was working elsewhere.

"I think there's a meaning behind it, unless he just wanted to manipulate us into doing his yard work." Fleur spoke as Daniel let Demetri had her out, the pair heading out of the backyard.

"Maybe so, I have a splinter and smell like paint." he complained, the two heading down the lining of the fence, "Usually I don't mind the smell of paint but-"

Demetri was cut off by Fleur throwing a arm across his body, causing him to stumble back into the fence. Demetri have a odd look as she looked both ways a good few times, eleven seconds exactly before she removed her arm. Demetri waited for her to say something, to explain what that was.

But she didn't.

All Fleur did was pull her bags around her body, and drop her skateboard before turning his way, "See you later."

And with that, she skated down the road and left him covered in paint. Demetri watched her leave, a sudden thought hit his brain now that she was gone and he wasn't trying to impress her.

Demetri knew he'd seen her before, yet he's never in his life gone to Newport.

The hotel room that Fleur crashed in was sketchy and smelt weird. Yells of couples in the room next to her echoed through the thin walls, the floor creaked when she walked out of the shower. When she sat on the bed, it creaked worse. But Fleur hadn't seemed to care, she hadn't cared about anything right now with her wet hair spread across the pillows.

Fleur fell asleep the second she laid down, not bothering to even get the light or pull a blanket over herself. The door was locked, she made sure of that five times when she got here. But she slept now, so suddenly and so peacefully from the lack of it she'd gotten over the last three days.

With the bruises lining her legs, the cuts on her arms, and the rope burn on her wrist, she just slept.
