CHAPTER ONE—
ghost intuition.

Xavier sat down on the ground and breath heavy, rubbing his head as he watched the school catch fire in certain parts, destroying slowly but surely. His eyes shut when he knew everyone else was out here, because it wasn't safe inside. It wasn't safe one bit, but everyone else had the ability to leave. Not her.

"Xavier." Ajax spoke quickly, grabbing him by the shoulders tightly as the boys red eyes met his wide ones.

a couple months before...

"On guard! Ya! He-ya!" Blake yelled as she jumped side to side, trying to dodge the sword Xavier was trying to stab through her with. "You are so bad at this."

"I've gotten you three times, you just argue and say I haven't." he rolled his eyes at her, sticking the sword through her body as it simply passed through. "See?"

"Doesn't count, I can't feel it." Blake shrugged her shoulders, walking backwards until she was fully off the sword.

"You can't feel anything!" Xavier defended himself.

"I can feel feelings." Blake touched her heart. "That one hurt. On guard!"

She started to jump around and try to move all around him again before someone in all black had caught her eye. It was hard not to when everyone else, aside Blake because she was stuck in her clothes from the night she died, was in white. "I bet she'll find a way to make it hurt."

Rowan hit the ground hard after his match with Bianca. "Coach, Coach, she tripped me."

"It was a clean strike, Rowan." Coach told him in return, taking his eyes off Bianca to look down at him.

"Maybe if you whined less and practiced more, you wouldn't suck." Bianca shrugged her shoulders as she looked down at the smaller boy.

"Gonna have to hear all about that later." Xavier whispered to Blake. "Show up to save me?"

"And miss a chance to listen to Rowan gossip? You must be joking." she shook her head in return as they backed off. "Enid wrote a blog about her. Wednesday, she says she's...sweet."

"How'd you read the blog?" he gave her a weird look, usually the one that always had to pull it up on his phone.

"I floated above Ajax head trying to see if his snakes could see me and I got intrigued." Blake shrugged her shoulders. "Ghost can't stone, yet he still won't take up my offer on it."

"How do you know if ghost can stone? You've never spoken to any ghost that have." Xavier glanced down at her with a questionable look. "Have you?"

Blake shrugged. "Ghost Intuition."

"Hum." he nodded his head and looked back to Rowan on the ground. "Got it."

"Seriously, Coach, when am I gonna get real competition?" Bianca whined and bragged all at once, looking to their coach in hope and desperation. "Anyone else wanna challenge me?"

"I do." Wednesday spoke from where she stood completely still.

"I told you." Blake elbowed Xavier as it passed right through his abdomen, getting an uncomfortable shutter as the freezing feeling lingered in his insides.

"Oh, you must be the psychopath they let in." Bianca smiled at her, eyeing her up and down. Blake sometimes was afraid of her eyes, but she could tell that was the last thing Wednesday would ever fear.

"And you must be the self-appointed Queen Bee." Wednesdays head tilted in just the slightest. "Interesting thing about bees. Pull out their stingers, they drop dead."

"I never thought about it, but-" Blake elbowed Xavier again as he exhaled in annoyance when the feeling passed again. "You think Eugenes bees ever come back as ghost? We just don't know they're ghost because we obviously don't try to touch them."

"Don't know, thought you had Ghost Intuition?" he mocked her in return with a laugh, Blake mocked the laugh and rolled her eyes, watching the two before them.

"Rowan doesn't need you to come to his defense." Bianca argued with Wednesday when her latest comment knocked her down a peg. "He's not helpless, he's lazy."

"Are we doing this or not?" Wednesday stared up at her.

Bianca tiled her head in response as she took her spot on the other side of the mat, Wednesday the other. Coach looked toward Xavier and Blake. "Blake, wanna do the honors?"

"On guard!" she yelled in her best man voice.

Bianca and Wednesday had a rather fair fight going at first, both blocking each other with the swords before Wednesday dropped down on her heels and got Bianca right in the chest. "Point, Wednesday."

They stood and took their spots again, Wednesday tried to do what she'd already done but Bianca saw it coming this time, stabbing her just as she fell. "The score is even."

Wednesday removed her mask as she stared. Blake cringed as she shook her head fast. "This is when she's gonna make it hurt. I can feel it. Can you feel it?"

"Oh, definitely." Xavier hummed just to avoid her going into detail on why she thought so.

"That first point was clearly beginner's luck." Bianca took off her mask next, a smile on her face. "Let's finish this."

"For the final point, I would like to invoke a military challenge." Wednesday looked to Coach as Bianca finished circling her. "No mask. No tips. Winner draws first blood?"

"What'd I tell you?" Blake tossed her hands up. "Yet you will continue to doubt me."

"You also said that you though Coach and Principle Weems were doing it and they weren't." Xavier pointed out as he held his mask under his arm. "That's why I continue to doubt you."

"Still have no proof they weren't. I got the vibe, my vibes are never wrong." she gave a point of her finger.

"It's your decision, Bianca."Coach nodded to her.

She tilted her head. "Let's see if you bleed in black and white."

Blake gasped with a smile.

Wednesday immediately swung at her as Bianca dodged it, hitting her sword with her own as both girls dodged it and backed away from each other. Wednesdays flew over her head as Bianca kicked hers down to the ground. Wednesday flipped over her body as Blake smiled again, her eyes widened. Bianca stood up quickly, slashing her sword as it cut Wednesday in the forehead.

"Woah, unexpected plot twist." Blake blinked multiple times. "Bianca ended up being the one to make it hurt."

"What was that about me never needing to doubt you?" Xavier gave Blake a mocking smile.

Blake shook her head. "That was your other ghost friend, i've never said such a thing."

"Wasn't aware I had more ghost friends." he gave her an odd look. "But, it's nice to be so popular."

"Right? It suits you." Blake nodded her head.

"Your face finally got that splash of color it so desperately needed." Bianca mocked Wednesday as she lowered her sword.
