CHAPTER NINE:
( the hunt begins. )

Hunting was something Seira always knew how to do, and she recalls her father often telling her she was a natural at it when she was younger. She remembers her first kill, a large buck that made her father beam with a smile that could reflect the sun. She recalls how so proud her father was of her, and that made her proud of her own abilities. At times Seira found some thoughts of such a past leek through, and although she was fond of such a memory, she also remembers the not so fond memories that linked to such a fond recollection. The first unfond memory to come forth is when she missed her first kill, and the way her father was so livid with her. He slapped her, and Seira saw the sun for the first time that day. She also remembers the countless bruises and cuts she found herself having, and at one point she had broken her leg, and her father told her, "It's up to you to have a will to survive." She had to crawl her way back to the family cabin, and from that point Seira slowly molded herself into a callused and emotionless soldier.

Seira did not dwell on such thoughts though, and often times when she found them trying to reel themselves to play on the big screen of her mind, she replaced it on other things similar to the subject. She often turns it towards how she trained Aki, and although she was proud of how he turned out, and his accomplishments and improvement by her guidance she can't help but think that she turned out to be exactly like her father in those moments. She had hit and beaten Aki so many times during the countless day's sword fighting that he could have very well seen past the sun and to a completely different plane of existence; he could have seen the whole of Heaven or Hell.

Memories were a disease to Seira, and she couldn't help but be disappointed that they were playing as she stood at the edge of the woods with Aki by her side. The funeral for her now deceased friend, Zeldris, only just happened yesterday. She carried his casket, spoke at the funeral, and watched as the cracked wood was laid in the ground right next to his beloved wife. Memories couldn't help but resurface after all this time at such moments, and she shook her head in hopes of ridding the memories from overplaying. Aki couldn't help but notice the fire that was set under Seira after the funeral, for she wanted more than ever to sink her claws into the nasty creature of Hell, handing out the judgement of Heaven to the monster. He liked it though, for any fire set in Seira also was set in him and motivated him just as much as it did Seira.

They stood there for several moments, going through the plan in both of their heads, and Aki only turned to Seira watching she had an indescribable look on her face. Her eyes held a far off look in them, but even with her trying so hard to be emotionless during this time her eyes glimmered against the early sunlight. She turned towards him, and gave him a soft yet saddened smile, one that broke Aki's soul and heart into a million pieces. He hated to see her in such a state and cursed the gods and devils forever punishing her with such human emotions. Aki without realizing it had placed Seira on a pedestal she shouldn't be at, and Seira without realizing it took advantage of such a place. They were truly selfish humans, but human nonetheless, which they often forgot.

"Don't die on me, Aki, I wouldn't know what to do with myself if you were not by my side," Seira told him with a look that resembled one of pity, and Aki couldn't help but long to embrace her, but he refrained from doing so and only gave her a nod of affirmation.

Seira quickly leaped up into the tree line, and Aki watched in mesmerized affection, he wanted to truly know the truth behind her devil contract more than ever before. He followed in suit after Seira, only he stayed on the ground as she instructed, while she kept an eye over head for the devil and his safety. They both leaped and dodged an assortment of things in their way, and Aki and Seira had never felt so free in what felt like a race in between the both of them, like two cubs of the same pact chasing one another for fun. Seira could feel the presence of the Devil coming closer from a distance, and she had to keep her mind clear from the thousands of thoughts running in her head.

Within a moments breath the creature of hell pointed its sharp arm at Aki, and he quickly drew his blade and dodged the numerous attacks the devil threw at him. He was shocked that he was able to keep up with the animal's strikes, but his countless hours of training the goddess of war molded his body into that of a weapon itself. Seira watched with a bated breath for an opening from the beast, and when she saw one, she quickly went in for the kill. She swung herself from the tree, flying as if she were bullet through one of the beast arm's slicing it clean off before moving to the next one and cutting the snake like arms from the devil's body. Aki had barely seen the attack, but with time of watching Seira in all her glory fight as she were a descendant of the goddess Athena, he was slowly able to train his eyes to the fast pace that his master followed.

She hurriedly jumped back up into the trees and began tracking the devil as it retreated farther into the forest, and Aki quickly followed behind her. A long game of cat and mouse continued between the devilish fear, and the self-proclaimed hunter's for god. With the devil stopping to attack the two, pushing them back only slightly, and running deeper as the sun made the air thick with heat. The two had built up a heavy sweet, but neither one faltered, for both Aki and Seira felt high the game they played, seeking out judgement to deliver punishment was enough of a drive to keep them going in the endless cycle.

They were slowly coming up on their last trap that they had set out, one that would surely stop the devil in its tracks, and allow them to deliver the final blow, putting an end to their witch hunt. Seira signaled for Aki, letting him know that in a few moments the primal fear would be stopped with the wires they had placed, and nodded in acknowledgment and smile grew upon the corners of his lips. It was a matter of seconds when the devil finally fell for the last trap, and Seira watched with a smile as her trap had actually worked, but Aki frowned as a distorted and disturbing scream clawed out of the monster's mouth.

The devil slowly fell, for the trap had tangled itself on the legs of the fear and started to cut away at them with every squirm the beast made. Aki came face to face with the primal fear, and when his empty eyes locked with the black endless abyss that looked more like holes rather than eyes on the devil, they both traded attacks with lightning speed. The devil would throw its long snake like arms at Aki, and he would cut them down like branches on a tree. The devil was quick with healing speed though, and more arms would take the place of the ones Aki cut at like Hydra's heads.

Seira quickly joined in on the fight alongside Aki, and both of the warriors of god swung their mighty weapons as if they had been birthed with the knowledge to wield them. Aki tried to keep his mind occupied on the fight, but his heart and eyes could not help but turn towards the goddess he had fallen for. He watched with pride and admiration as the older woman's sunlight blonde hair flowed with her attacks, and her silver eyes of wisdom dazzled with hunger to enact her mighty god's judgement. She was truly heavenly, and Aki realized in that moment how far he had truly fallen for his master.

A moment is all it takes for everything to go awry.

Seira looked towards Aki and that was enough of an opening for the devil to strike its attack. Aki watched in horror as one of the arms of the devil plunge its way into Seira, and carried out on the other side was Seira's beating heart. Aki could feel himself screaming, but he couldn't hear the sound of it clawing its way from his lungs. Seira's eyes shook with fear Aki had never known she could have, and she watched in horror as her beating heart was defiled by sinful hands. Once the devil had given them both a show it retracted its arm, and Seira dropped to her knees, a gaping hole now where the goddesses heart use to be caged at in her mortal body. Blood ran endlessly like a blood ocean on the Earth, and Aki wouldn't be surprised if flowers and trees grew from the liquid, but Seira wasn't a god much to Aki's dismay. She wouldn't survive this massacre, for even if he thought she was something holy, she would never be. Seira was a mortal, and no mortal could survive something as horrific as this.

The two of them locked eyes, and Aki wished for nothing but to go back to the comfort of their home in Tokyo and look upon her figure with lust as she lounged on their couch listening to music, her sun dress hiked up high enough to have lewd thoughts take over his boyish mind. The peacefulness gracing her face was enough for Aki's greed for the woman be quenched. He watched as a bright smile turned the corners of her bloody lips, and Aki wanted nothing more than to kiss them with so much force that his own life would be consumed by the woman, and she would live on at his sacrifice.

"Survive, Aki Hayakawa, my beautiful boy," his gorgeous goddesses whisper towards him, and he could feel the tears in his eyes spill endlessly at her words.

She dropped face first unto the Earth, and a loud thud shook the whole Earth, Heaven, and Hell. Aki tried to run towards his master, but pitch blackness took over his vision, and he could feel a stinging feeling coming from the back of his head. He hissed in pain and fell to the ground. Even without his vision, and his senses fading in and out, he reached his hand in search for his lover. He searched like a dog for its master, and when he found it, he grasped harshly at the silky-smooth skin that had been placed onto him many times by the woman with warmth like a mother.

No warmth came from her hands this time, much like a father's they were cold and calloused.
