THE AVENGERS TOOK OFF TO SALVAGE YARD, all in glory with their respective weapons as they were spread around the ambiance. Jamie stood a few feet away from Thor, Steve, and Tony while the rest were hiding on the upper floor.

"Ahh, Junior." Iron Man said, landing gracefully with Captain America and Thor behind him. "You're gonna break your old man's heart."

Ultron titled his head. "If I have to."

Jamie neared the corner, her swords tightly gripped as she looked at the scene in front of her. A gush of pain engulfed her body, making her breath hitch for a moment before turning back to normal. She let out a shaky exhale, watching the trio but did a double-take when she saw Wanda and Pietro.

What? She thought, looking at the twins with bewilderment. Her frown deepened, her eyes lingering longer on the younger girl, her heart clenching.

A flying drone running towards her pulled her out of her thoughts. She put her sword in front of her, cutting the drones in half as her eyes turned dark. She reached to the middle front, appearing in front of Steve and Iron Man by taking down the robots, and immediately met face-to-face with the twins who looked at her with shock.

Wanda's crimson energy ceased around her palms, her wide eyes staring at hers. She let out a soft sigh. "Jamilla." she managed to let out, her gentle voice causing a heavy feeling inside her stomach.

Just as Jamie was about to answer, a beam of energy sent her all the way across the building. She let out a yelp of surprise, the drone throwing her against the metal wall. She gasped for air as a reign of pain entered her body making her let out a groan. Her body slid down, hitting the heavy railing with a thud.

"The girl tried to warp my mind. Take special care, I doubt a human could keep her at bay. Fortunately, I am mighty." She heard Thor say through her earpiece.

The Heroine grunted, slowly standing up. Her eyes met the same drone, causing her eyes to turn dark. She ran towards it, her heavy leaden feet fastening her pace. She jumped over a fence, her blades vibrating with energy as her swords clashed with the robotic figure.

She landed back on their original spot, her eyes frantically darting across the building to look for the sorceress. "Wanda!?" she yelled, running towards the entrance.

Jamie entered a dark hallway, causing shivers down her spine. Dark, gnarly veins crawled underneath her eyes, making her angle her swords. She walked slowly, her eyes studying every detail through the darkness. A bright red beam floated behind her, making her turn away.

The Heroine let out a sigh, her eyes locked with the younger woman. "Wanda." she breathed, her eyes turning softer as she sauntered forward.

Wanda's lips turned into a downwards pout, looking at the woman who she considered a real friend. "I don't wanna hurt you." she fretted, her chin trembling.

Jamie shook her head, her eyebrows furrowed. "Hey, it's okay. I don't wanna hurt you either. You don't have to do this, sweetheart." she told her, giving her a comforting smile.

Wanda sniffled, tears welling inside her eyes. She shook her head, her teary eyes looking at her. "I-I, I don't know–" she stuttered out, feeling her breathing getting heavier.

The Heroine inched closer. She brought her hand out with a smile. "It's alright," she reassured, giving her a fond look.

Wanda brought her hand, but a grunt of surprise is what stopped her. She felt a burning pain on the back of her head, and swiftly turned around to be met with the Hawkeye who planted an electric bolt on her head.

Jamie gasped, her hands on her mouth as she watched Clint taking her down. She saw him walking towards her with Natasha in his arms, a firm look on his face as he came closer. She pointed a finger at him, a glare forming on her face but he grabbed her arm. "We don't got the time, Barzinji. We need to move."

Jamie became dumbfounded, looking at him with a look as if she was at a loss for words. She felt him dragging both of them out of the building. "The whole team is down, you got no back up here."

With everybody back on the Quinjet, they fled out of the coast. Steve was curled into a corner, his mind still processing his vision. The same applied to the others, especially Natasha, who was huddled up in her seat. Jamie wrapped a blanket over her, taking a seat beside her.

"Feeling better?" she asked the redhead, her eyes painted with concern.

Natasha let out a shaky exhale, clutching the blanket closer to her body. "Yeah. What about you? You looked pretty shaken up when Barton took you out." she replied, looking at her.

Jamie nodded, her gaze averting away toward her lap. "They're just kids, Nat," she said after a moment, her eyes back on the Russian assassin.

Natasha's eyes softened. She brought her hand and placed it on her thigh, giving it a light squeeze. "I know," she breathed, rubbing her thigh with a small smile.

"The news is loving you guys. Nobody else is. There's been no official call for Banner's arrest, but it's in the air." Maria's voice from the jet made the pair pull away from their small moment.

"Stark Relief Foundation?" Tony asked, looking at the screen monitor.

"Already on the scene. How's the team?" Maria said.

Tony's eyes darted across the jet, his eyes landing on Jamie who gave him a smile. He returned her gesture with a nod before turning his attention to the agent. "Everyone's...we took a hit. We'll shake it off."

"Well for now I'd stay in stealth mode, and stay away from here."

Tony frowned. "So, run and hide?"

"Until we can find Ultron, I don't have a lot else to offer," Maria answered.

Jamie rubbed her eyes, feeling exhaustion hitting her like a wave. She turned her head to Natasha, gently tapping her leg before standing up. "I'll be right back."

The Heroine stretched her body, feeling her bones cracking making her grimace at the sound. Sauntering forward to the back of the jet, she saw Thor pacing, a worried look etched on his handsome features. She neared the God, giving him a kind smile. "You alright, Thor?"

Thor stopped his pacing, the sound of her voice filling his eardrums. His face turned into a grin, acknowledging the woman. "Don't worry about me, Lady Jamilla," he told her, a polite simper reaching his face.

Jamie hummed, her lips curving up. She nodded. She turned on her heel, meeting Bruce, who was sitting on the floor with a blanket draped over him. She clenched her jaw and gently patted his shoulder, to which he responded with a tired smile.

The ex-soldier slowly walked toward Steve. She nervously fiddled with her hands as she inched closer. Debating if she should, her mind contemplated her actions making her halt with her steps. She wasn't sure if he wanted company or wanted to talk. He looked pretty drained, his eyes staring into empty space.

Jamie shook her head, blocking her negative thoughts. She neared the soldier, making him turn his head to her. She returned his smile as she took a seat next to him. She shifted in her seat, grabbing a blanket on her left to wrap over Steve. "You doing okay?"

Steve's heart fluttered, and he looked at her with a soft smile. He let her put the blanket over him, to which he muttered a thank you. His stomach writhed with butterflies as their hands touched, causing him to avert his gaze toward his lap. He let out a sigh, nodding his head. "The visions are still there, but other than that I'm doing okay," he replied, turning his gaze to her.

Jamie nodded her head. "You don't need to tell me what you saw. Whatever it was, it must be difficult to forget," she reassured, gesturing with her hands.

Steve's face turned into a soft look. His mind flashed back to the visions, his brain reliving the dance he had with Peggy. He frowned, feeling conflicted. He wasn't sure if he missed her, or the memories. He's for sure grown from his feelings towards her and moved on, but he couldn't help but feel a pang in his chest for not having the life he wanted.

"I just wish things ended differently, you know? I was just a boy from Brooklyn, and now I'm fighting a world that doesn't want saving." he voiced his thoughts, a dejected look forming on his face.

Jamie nodded, a look of understanding forming on her features. "Yeah, I get it. You wish you could back and change the past, but you can't. No matter how much you try to forget, it's still there." she said, her voice barely above a whisper but enough for Steve to hear.

Steve looked at her, his eyes lingering on her face. He brought his hand to brush a few hair strands away from her face, tucking them behind her ear. She shyly smiled, feeling his warm hand on her cheek. She put her hand on top of his, leaning into his gentle touch.

He looked down at her lips, biting his lip as he felt himself inching closer. She felt his breath on her face and she leaned her forehead against his. Her heart was pounding loudly against her chest, along with crimson red dancing across her cheeks.

Jamie looked at his lips, her eyes trailing over his delicate features as she dangerously brushed her lips against his. "I should go back and check on, Nat." she whispered, her hand placing themselves on his jaw, gently caressing his cheek before pulling away.

Steve closed his eyes, already missing her touch. He clenched his jaw, opening his eyes with a sheepish smile. "You should. I'll see you in the morning, doll" he said, the pet name slipping out from his lips.

Jamie bit the insides of her cheeks, giving him a flustered look. "Goodnight, Steve," she said, leaving her seat before making her way to the front jet. She met Tony's smug look and she gave him a glare.

"You two are disgustingly cute. When's the wedding?" he gushed, giving her a nudge on her ribs.

     "Shut up, Stark."

Did Jamie just cockblock herself? Yes, she did. The slow burn is killing me, but it's definitely worth it. Bear with me, folks! We're getting closer ;)

Also, the relationship between Jamie and the Avengers is just 💓💕💓💕💕 >>>>>>
