SUMMER BREAK WAS FINALLY COMING TO AN END, and Evangilya was definitely happy about it.

Her mother was alive again and she... well she was at college.

On a college campus to be more precise. It's not like she actually wanted to be there, but she had to locate and make sure the female doppelgΓ€nger was okay.

Not only did the younger doppelgΓ€nger look like her bio – mother, but the younger male she knew who was still at the bottom of the quarry, looked like her father.

It was kind of unsettling to say the least, but it didn't stop her from doing her task, which was making sure the doppelgΓ€nger she had come to know as Elena Gilbert was in safe hands.

And at the moment she was, at least from what she could see.

Both her and her best friend Caroline were walking along the college campus on their way to their shared dorm room.

While she followed – discreetly – behind and made sure everything was alright. That is until she heard Elena mentioned her dreams of Stefan Salvatore.

Peaking her interest she decided to listen in on their conversation.

"Auctus auditus" She chanted quietly to herself, letting her spell take effect.

"You're dreaming about Stefan?" Caroline asked, surprised at the sudden mention.

"They're not dreams. It's more of a feeling." Elena digressed. "Maybe I should call him?"

"So he can hear how happy you are with Damon. Absolutely not." Caroline disagreed passionately.

"He'll call you when he's ready."

"So I just live with this nagging pit in my stomach?"

"Okay, Elena, that pit is called guilt. You feel terrible because you broke Stefan's heart and that nagging feeling is your brain waking up to tell you that you've made a horrible terrible yet completely reversible mistake."

Listening to the little speech the blonde haired girl spilled out, Eva couldn't help but nod along with her words.

"Where was this girl during my time? I'm sure she would've talked some sense into Silas and he would've treated my mother with much more respect." she whispered to herself, then resumed listening in on their conversation.

Seeing them come to a halt in the middle of the campus sidewalk, Eva stilled and stayed out of sight while she listened to the duo.

"Nice try, Besides, Stefan and I left things in a good place." Elena assured as she took a step in front of Caroline.

"It doesn't mean he hasn't been thinking about you shaking up with his brother all summer long."

"Well there's something you don't hear everyday. Does every doppelgΓ€nger come with a love issue attached?" Eva wondered.

As the girls were still at a halt looking at their college campus, and the people passing by Eva noticed a particular Bennett witch standing beside the Gilbert girl.

"We're in college, Caroline."

"We actually made it. We're here." Both Caroline and Elena smiled.

And not they could see or hear but that same Bennett witch smiled along with them.

"We're all here together." She heard the witch say.

Smiling solemnly from a distance she watched as the witch trailed beside them as they walked to their dorm room.

But before they could, Eva had a thought.

She felt that she should at least let them see her once before the big reveal.

Walking out from her hiding place, she purposefully stumbled into a fraternity boy. Who just so happened to be right in front of the three mystic fall girls.

"Aye watch were your–." The fraternity boy was about to finish his sentence till he actually looked at who he bumped into, and let's just say by today's standards Eva wasn't bad on the eyes at all.

"Actually that's my bad." He apologized then came a short pause while he not so suddenly checked her out.

"The names Tony. What's yours hot stuff?" He asked eagerly.

'What happened to men being sweet and charming? These millennials are preposterous." Eva thought aloud in her head before answering.

"At first, I was going to apologize for being the one to actually bump into you, but now I'll be the first to give you 3 seconds to walk away before I make you."

Elena and Caroline were supposed to be heading to their room to unpack, but they just couldn't pass up a chance to see a fraternity boy get his ass handed to him on a silver platter.

Tony stalled for a moment thinking the girl was playing but once he saw no smile appear on her face he got the hint.

"Well, I can see now is not the time to make our love connection, so I'm going to let you play hard to get. If you need me, just ask around for Tony Starkioni, but the people call me Tony Stark like Iron Man. So you'll know where to find me." He said before walking ahead to catch up with his brothers.

Seeing him leave, Eva rolled her eyes.

"Uck, men."

And just like cheese she set a trap for the mice to come nibble.

"You're right they're atrocious." Caroline smiled brightly, as she stuck the palm of her hand out.

"Caroline Forbes." She introduced.

Shaking the stuck out hand, she introduced herself. "Eva Peters, and I'm guessing you witnessed everything that just happened?" She smiled sheepishly.

"Yeah, sorry. We couldn't help but overhear." The brunette finally spoke up to say.

"It's quite alright, the whole thing was out in the open for everyone to hear so no biggie." Eva brushed it off.

"Also I don't believe I got your name?"

"That's right, I'm being such a clutz. My name is Elena." She announced.

Eva nodded, "Well it was nice to meet you. See you around sometime perhaps?" she asked.

"Yeah, of course. Maybe we'll even have a class together." Caroline agreed happily.

"Yeah, maybe." She waved as she departed from the girl group, but not before she cast an eye over the green eyed Bennett witch.

'How the bloody hell am I going to get into a class, hell even this college.' Eva thought as she walked back to her car.

"I should've asked if she transferred from being abroad, her accent is one to die for." Caroline said to Elena.

Driving up along the woodsy road, Eva finally made it up to the cabin that she and her mother were so graciously living in.

Turning the engine off and shutting the car door, Eva walked up the cabin steps and opened the front door.

"Guess who's going to college!" she faked her enthusiasm.

"From all of our talks for over the years, I remember you mentioning that you never wanted to go to school, like... ever." Qetsiyah smiled lightly recalling the memory of seeing the times change along with the people and places surrounding them.

"Yeah, but I may have sorta kinda purposely bumped into the doppelgΓ€nger and her friend and said that I would see them around. And the doppelgΓ€nger's friend, Caroline thought I was going to the college so she naturally assumed that I was going to be in one of her classes. So now I have worked my way into enrollment and now I'm a college freshman." Eva word vomited.

Qetsiyah could do nothing but laugh at her child.

"I don't see what's so funny, I'm quite literally too old to go to school, hell I could have even founded the place."

"Calm down, calm down. What's the worst could happen besides you relearning history all over again while also being in the same class as your whore egg donors doppelgΓ€nger."

"Besides that, I would actually have to keep up the facade. And unlike other people I actually like being who I am."

Qetsiyah sighed and walked over to her daughter.

"Think about this, when you get home you can rant to me all you want and for an added bonus you can be exactly who you are around me."

Eva nodded with a smile coming upon her face, "Thanks mom."

"Of course, what would you do without witch me or ghost me for that matter."

Eva rolled her eyes playfully with a huff, as she walked to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

It was a brand new day and Eva was making her way over to Whitmore College.

And not only was she having to go to school with children, but now she had to dress like one as well.

Looking at her class schedule she noticed that she had Microbiology for her first class.

To be honest she had picked all of her classes at random, so imagine her surprise when she saw Caroline and Elena walk in the same class.

Fate was intervening at a rate 100%, might as well give whoever is plucking the strings a 5 star rating.

At last, Eva knew that it would have been way easier to keep an eye on the doppelgΓ€nger now that she was enrolled in at the same college.

"Hey. Blow–off girl. Aren't you a freshman? How are you in this class?" A very handsome man asked Caroline.

"What? Um, I love applied...micro...biology. It's like my favorite biology." She stammered.

Wanting to clear the preverbal awkward air, Eva decided to intervene and save Caroline the embarrassment.

"We all decided to take on a challenging course our Freshman year to prepare for our future years in college." The green eyed girl spoke, catching the trio's attention.

Caroline and Elena silently praised Eva for saving them from the embarrassment.

"Yeah, you know, little things are just so cute!" Caroline added.

"Are you going to the bonfire tonight or are you gonna get really close and then turn around and leave again?" The guy asked the two friends specifically, but also looked in Eva's direction.

Eva nodded and Elena answered with a slight laugh as Caroline blushed.

"She'll be there."

"Sweet, we'll hang."

After saving them from complete humiliation, Eva turned to go look for another seat when she felt her wrist being pulled in Caroline's direction.

"Since you so graciously saved me from being a complete idiot, I think it's safe to say you are now my new friend."

Eva softly smiled and agreed, "I think this is the beginning of a new friendship."

As they took their seats before the class started, Eva noticed Caroline give Elena a look.

And Elena knew exactly what that look was.

"What? You said you wanted to make bad decisions about boys. He's cute, he's interested, and most importantly, unlike Tyler, he's here." Elena monologued.

"I don't know this Tyler you speak of but I do know that a woman should never have to wait for a man, so get out there and live a little. If that just so happens to mean you going to a party with that guy, then do it. Tyler's not here to stop you." Eva agreed.

Because if there was anything she had learned over the 2,000 years of being alive is that you can't let anyone hold you back and live your life to the fullest even if you can't ever die.

Caroline didn't respond to Eva's speech, but she knew the girl was right.

Soon after said speech, the teacher for the class Eva was taking walked in.

"Morning, everyone. I'm Dr.Maxfield. First name is Wes, but call me Dr.Maxfield. One day when you're out of med school, you'll understand." He introduced.

"Conceited much." Eva muttered to herself.

"So you're all going to this bonfire tonight, right? Well, here's a quick history lesson for you. Whitmore was founded as a hospital during the civil war, the deadliest war in American history with over 600,000 casualties. Disease was so prevalent that once a week they had to gather all the dead, rotting bodies, put them all in a pile, and light the whole thing on fire. So tonight when you're getting drunk and partying, stop for a second, close your eyes, and imagine the rancid smell of a hundred rotting corpses." He finished.

"Well this just turned morbid." Eva added

"Creep–y" Caroline agreed.

"But hottie." Elena digressed as she looked at the two beside her.

"What? He is."

"Which brings us to Microbiology because that rancid smell comes from a very specific bacteria – isn't that right, chatty girls in the back." Maxfield called out.

Making Eva glare in his direction, how dare he talk to her that way. Shouldn't he have already learned his manners?

"And what is that bacteria?" He asked.

"Uh, that's the, uh– um, I don't know." Elena stuttered.

"Sorry professor, she's nervous, but the bacteria you speak of isn't called Putrescine." Eva spoke up to say, as she tilted her head.

Maxfield looked in her direction but didn't say anything – to her specifically.

"I see that at least one out of the three of you actually knows what I'm talking about, but the other two don't because they shouldn't be in this class because they're freshmen. How do I know? I'm observant. A skill you two will learn in Bio 101 down the hall." He scorned.

"Sir if I may, we take this class to learn right. So that's what they're, heck what we're all here to do. So instead of calling them out on the first day maybe you should go into your lesson and start teaching so we can all actually learn. Because from what I understand you're a teacher right?" Eva informed, not liking the tone he was taking to his students on the first day of class as it had just begun.

Maxfield glared but moved on with his class period.

Walking on the campus grounds back to her car Eva felt something.

It wasn't like what she felt when the other side opened up, it was more like a lifeline.

With her being psychic and all, she knew there was only one other person who could have the same connection she had and felt, her father, Silas.

And across the grounds Silas too felt the same connection but didn't act upon it as he saw Elena in his sights and she was a spitting image – besides strip of red hair – his old love, Amara.

Sorry this took so long to get out, but hopefully this won't happen again!
