The Friday afternoon, you and your best friend and Hwannie spend time together at the Time Square mall in Yeondeungpo.

Ms. Hotness*(The nickname you gave for your best friend ).

Her grandmother went home to spend her weekly time with her granddad, so you and she enjoyed a lovely day, shopping and going for a light lunch.

Your best friend seems nervous and on edge the whole day. Your firm made all the interns knock off at 12h00 due to some supervisors had court cases with junior lawyers to assist them in court.

You felt so relieved. It will be your 21st birthday in a few weeks, and you will receive your soul mark. However, you feel a little apprehensive about it because meeting your soulmate will have many complications depending on who he will be.

The rules of the monarchy are on a very high level. If you are branded as Tarnished, your parents will arrange a marriage for you with another childhood friend from a Spanish Royal family. He is already branded Tarnished. He is an ok boy. Quiet but perverse to the core.

You don't know how to feel because you still have lingering feelings for an old love. Jin-Goo informed you that his said friend is dating a Korean-American rapper. He heard about it from Jackson, another mutual friend, although BigHit has officially confirmed nothing. So nobody knows if he is only best friends or dates the girl.

You felt so sad about the fact that he has moved on for good. Every time you think about him, your heartaches. Jin-Goo is very protective of you and doesn't want you to be involved in a painful love triangle. You wish to get a soul mark and not be branded as a Tarnished because you will then always love Bts President Kim Namjoon, never to move on from him. And to crown it all, he is so manly and good-looking. But a pity he loves someone else.

You even went online and search for him and his best friend. She is very famous in the US and quite beautiful.

They look so good together. Seeing them photographed together made you realized how invested you've been with your feelings. How come you can't get over him? It's like you've been drawn into a whirlpool. You were going round in circles with no stop.

The incident with Prince Ino left you scared of dating guys, and Jin-goo will always have investigators on them.

Ms. Hotness told you that she and Jin-goo would be meeting tonight. You can sense her fear of Jin-Goo's reaction. Her biggest fear is if he will take her baby away from her. It will kill her. Hwannie is her life. She went through hell to bring his child into this world.

She was the one driving you to the mall. You were going to acquire a car for yourself. No bodyguard drivers anymore. You need freedom.

Hwannie was talking up a storm telling you about her new friends at her new nursery school. She even said she is a pet for the teacher, which has you and her mom in stitches. While you and she talked about adult stuff, your friend put an audio story for Hwannie to listen through her big Barbie earphones.

Tala glance at the back and then to you." Vicky, do you think Jin-goo will claim Hwannie?.. I can't lose my baby, Vicky." She uttered with a shudder in her voice.

You look at the fear in your friends' eyes," Just tell him the truth...please don't lie to him...You know he already knows she is his...The parental bond.

Tala hits her hand with frustration on the steering wheel.

"Oh, my goodness, Vicky...he is going to kill me...worse...really hate me for keeping Hwannie from him." She looks as if she wanted to cry.

You console her," Dear, he won't, believe me, but he will work out something with you. I could see with his bond with "her" he loves her already. This morning he looked stressed and tired. His parents will be onto him".

"Omg! that's horrible...d..do you think they might disown him?"She looks as if She wanted to faint.

"No, of cause not. He is their eldest son...but it might jeopardize his arranged marriage."

You grin. You know that Princess Francesca will not go through with the marriage. He will stay a little bit single.

"What! is he going to marry his girlfriend? When...oh gosh, I ruined his life...I'm thinking of emigrating to Thailand or Taiwan?"

You widen your eyes," You can't do that...how will I see Hwannie? Jin-Goo will be livid, my friend. He might sue you for sole custody if you plan that route. So, a word of advice, don't think about it?"

She nods, speechless. The car falls into silence as she enters the parking zone of the mall.
Excitement entered your being. You've never been to this mall. Today, you are going to shop.

You first went to Cafe Mama. They were ordering their famous cheese risotto salad and sandwiches.

After a filling lunch, you took Hwannie to Kids and keys. Where the kids receive a key to the world of the profession, they have the choice to open up any door of their choice and enjoy the room, whether a chef or mechanic or medical doctor.

While Hwannie was squealing in delight and left with a child attendant, you and you're friend were relaxing on the plush chairs seated around the area drinking juice.

"It's so cool here, and I've always wanted to be a lawyer. Fighting for the rights of others" you smile fondly and your friend whose eyes are following Hwannie.

"Yeah, I want to specialize in Entertainment law. Helping film companies with their legal issues." Then, she glances back at you, "I want to start my practice in two years."

"Wow, that's awesome...why in two years?" You look at her with surprise.

"To gain more experience. I need to work for Hwannies' future. I can't always rely on my harmeoni."

She grimaces. Her life has not been easy without her parents, but she will push on and map her pathway.

"You wouldn't have to worry about her future anymore. Jin-Goo will help you taking responsibility...He will want to be involved." You smile a little.

You look at her teasingly, "So, ms hotness ...are you ready to receive your soul mark in a week, practically days?"

"No, honestly, I'm not ready. I can't let my soulmate be burden with a child out of the bond. I'll set him free and live my life without a soulmate. If he's red gold, I'll be there for him and marry him if he wants me."

She shrugged unbothered. She's too hung up on her child's father right now and will wait patiently for her destined soulmate. Then, hopefully, he will accept her.

"And you? are you looking forward to your soul mark, or is Kim Namjoon still a factor? She looks at you also with pity because the both of you fell hard for the two friends beyond your reach.

You have a far-off look in your eyes," I want a soulmate. I don't want to be Tarnished that I know. Joonie will always be special to me, and there are rumors about him and an American-Korean rapper girl. They might be soulmates. He told me that when I found my mark, I must look him up. But gosh, they are so super-famous right now. There's no way I can reach him ...and he already found his soulmate. So, it's no use meeting him. I don't want to be his friend cause I'm going to be too hurt watching his happiness with that girl."

"Aw Vicky...we are not sure if it is true or just rumors. However, he really liked you at school, unlike Jin-Goo, who treated me indifferently." She looked sad again.

"What about the guy Ji Hi Syuk.That Tarnished guy that constantly asked you out?" You waggle your eyebrows. She just scoffs.

"Yeah, right...now that Jin-goo put one and one together, I can't even deceive him with Hi Syuk. I'm just waiting for my soul mark. If it's Tarnished, I might date him. He already loves Hwannie; even his mom wants us to date." She shook her head. It will be agonizing to be Tarnished and date someone else while your heart belongs to someone else already. It's not fair to Hi Syuk.

Hwannie was done with her session, and she came running to her mom filled with smiles.

"Ooh 'omeoni...ajumma! I'm going to be an artist when I'm big. Look!" She pushed her small canvas almost in her mom's face. You giggle at that.

She looked so excited. Both of you and the attendant looked with admiration to another beautiful drawing of her.

The attendant was amazed," Your daughter is super talented ...wow. She drew that within minutes. We let her draw few other drawings, and she signed her name, and our manager decided to frame it in the artist career room. Wow. Can we have your number please for future competitions?"

You were both stunned at the revelation. Hwannie is a small genius.

'Omeoni, they made me use oil pencils, and Blackwood sticks to draw...can I have black wood sticks!" She pleads cutely.

Your best friend frowned at the request. You snicker, "ER... dear. She talks about oil pastels and charcoal sticks. It's mediums that artist used to draw also."

"I know that, but since when? She loves painting and watercolors also. I never thought about pastels." your friend looked stunned at her daughter.

The attendant smiled and asked you to wait. Then, she brought Hwannie a special gift. Of an Artist case with all the coloring media that she wants to use. Hwannie was jumping up and down.

"Come, we still have more shopping to do?" You stood up and picked Hwannie into the shopping cart.

You went to a Puma shop and bought an exercise kit as well streetwear. You purchased a thick white jacket for your best friend as a come-home gift, and she bought you sneakers. You both bought Hwannie cute sneakers and t-shirts.

You went to the ice cream, Baskin and Robbins, shop and bought some exciting flavors. You bought Hwannie a giant purple macaroon ice cream biscuit. She loved it.

"At what time will Jin-Goo be at your house? " you ask while eating from your small tub.

"At 6-7 pm, please Vicky come with him...we need to talk, and then you can keep Hwannie busy. I don't want her to be caught if there's a screaming match".
She inhaled sharply, starting to get more nervous.

"Let's buy dinner. Then Let's all can have a relaxing time. Can we opt for Chinese? Jin-Goo loves Chinese dishes." You suggest.

They went to the Din Tai Fung and bought enough dishes for tonight.

Your friend looks more nervous as time went by.

You quickly text Jin informing you about your plans. He feels great about it. He will drive you to your friends' apartment.

It was almost 5 pm. You were having fun at the mall. Hwannie was so tired. She was in dreamland when you reached the car.

The drive home was so relaxing. You went straight to the shower to refresh.

You decided to relax on your sofa with an intriguing Novel. You love reading. There was a ringing at your home intercom. You stood up. Look first at the screen. It was Jin-Goo.

You open and let him in. He looks tense. You know something significant happened.

"Hi cuz, what's up?" You look at his tired eyes as he throws off his jacket and plops down on your sofa.

"The duke found out. I've been summoned to the Royal holiday home in Madrid. Gosh, how will I explain it  Vicky...Hwannie with your friend appears on the family tree. The system registered them today." He looked very distressed.

You paled visibly. Oh, gosh, it's serious. Jin -Goos' father and your father, the King, are brothers. They both married woman from Asia lady-in-waiting that turned out Soulmates. Jin-Goo's mom was a royal lady. Now she is a duchess. So jin got younger sisters, while you got older brothers that are already married. Your mom is a Spanish princess. Your grandfather is a Filipino. You and Jin Goo has more Asian looks that helped you blend in Korea.

"But how will my friend and I get off for a week from the internship. My dad needs to send a letter. I don't want my firm to find out about my royal status. We were so secluded and well protected here, Ji." You look worried.

"I'm sorry...I messed up big time. How will I tell my girlfriend? I love her. Three women in my life....will be the death of me. Princess Francesca had to give up on the marriage now. What if she wants to marry me with the knowledge of Hwannie?
I even ask the producer to give me a week off to go to Spain. Vicky...they want to see your friend and their grandchild. This is too huge. The whole immediate family will be there with the King. My mom is going to scrutinize your friend. No one is immune to my mom's slasher tongue."
You went to him and hugged your favorite cousin and protector.

"It was a mistake, Jin-Goo. But, you going to take responsibility and move on." you encouraged him. He shook his head.

"Are you ready to go?" He looks intensely at you when you look at him, unsure.

"I think you need to go alone and meet your daughter. Your little family must connect first. Don't worry, and I'll order something light for myself. My friend already prepared supper for you....wait, here is her address and floor number. Please be calm. "You told him.

"I don't have the energy to fight Vicky...we will leave on Monday morning. Call your parents and inform them. I already pack. Now I need to tell you, friend. Tomorrow you can come clean about your side of the royal business." He stood up, put on his jacket.

"Gosh, Vicky ...I'm a dad...will I be a good dad?" Poor Jin-Goo.

"You will be...You looked after my well- being remembered. Hwannie will be very lucky to have a well-respected dad like you." You hugged him tightly.

He smiled and left the apartment.

Tala pov

She felt more nervous as time goes by because Vicky just called and told her that she wants to give her privacy. She already dished up food for Hwannie. Her baby was drawing on her small table in the corner.

She was glad her halmeoni went home. She'll meet Jin-Goo another time.

The doorbell rang. She quickly made sure she looked presentable. Her palms are sweaty, and her heart is beating unnaturally fast. Will, she survived the evening?

She inhaled, lift her chin and open the door.

In front of her stood the man that dominates most of her memories and who sat solely in her heart. Her breathe hitch at the sight of his handsome self. They looked at each other for a few seconds. Jin-Goo's eyes widen at the transformation of her. She has grown to be a beautiful girl. He felt his body started to react to this "new" girl in front of him.

What happened to the plain Jane of his school. She became well define and 'hot.'

His mind suddenly took him to their final farewell party. This is because she even looks so attractive that evening and because what transpired that night ....brought him to this point.

"Hi Jin-Goo," she greeted him warmly.

"Hi ...Tala" he bows a little.

She smiles a little and widens the door for him to enter. In the small entrance room, he exchanged his loafers for comfortable slip-ins she prepared for him.

She didn't know what to say but led him to the lounge area, where Hwannie was concentrating on her picture. She was gnawing again on her top lip with her tiny teeth. Jin-Goo was amazed at that mannerism of his.

Jin-Goos' eyes are fixed on his daughter. He felt the parental pull so strong because the royal bond strengthens it.

He looked at Tala in awe and said with a husky voice. "She's mine?"

She looks at him with teary eyes and nods, unable to speak as she led him further in the room until Hwannie became aware of a presence with her mom...

She looked up with a big smile and look in surprise at the man next to her mom. She quickly jumps up and gives a slight bow. Jin-Goo is so entranced with this beautiful girl.

She is his and Tala's baby. He fathered a beautiful girl. He suddenly felt emotional.

"Jin-Goo meets Bang Hwan-hee, your daughter ....Hwannie comes to say hi to your Appa."

"Appa...I got an Appa!"She looked stunned at her mommy as her eyes dart to the loving eyes of the man who suddenly becomes part of her small world.

"Hi, Hwannie...I'm your Appa-Jin" he stretched out his arms as he was bending down on her level. She looked at her mom, and when her mom nods, she squealed and ran into his arms, holding her daddy tightly around the neck. He stood up, and she is so excited because he is very tall, a full 1,82m. Her mommy was very short, 1.58m

She wiped her eyes and smiled happily at the reunion of daughter and father. Jin-Goo was stunned at his daughter's visual arts giftedness. She was talking non-stop, sitting on her dad's lap.

"Jin-Goo, I'll let you acquaint yourself with Hwannie...She, unfortunately, talks a lot. So just answer her questions."

She blew out a breath of relief and walked back into the kitchen to prepare the food.

Hwannie told her dad she's going to draw him a beautiful picture. Jin-Goo kissed her on the chubby cheek and told her he's going to check on mommy.

She just nods, carried away with her drawing.

Jin-Goo found her in the kitchen warming up the food. He looks at her for a few seconds until she turns around.

"O My gosh...Jin-Goo...You scared me" she had her hand over her chest.

Jin-Goo look apologetic, then with a serious tone," Why didn't you inform me about the pregnancy?"

She looked down, then inhaled, glancing into his sad eyes," That day...I promised you I'm not going to run after you...ever. So I went home and, a few weeks later, found out about the baby. I heard from Vicky that you both got accepted into Harvard...I didn't know how to contact you, and I didn't want to burden you with the news."

He narrowed his eyes," Why not trying harder?

You throw your hands on the air with frustration, "Jin-Goo...I couldn't complicate your life like that. I cut off all contact with my best friend and miss her so much, but I had to make a decision and fast...I...I was kicked out of my family home and-"

Jin-Goo looks shocked," What! So you were kicked out while pregnant with my child...why?"

She just shrugged with a hurt expression," I wasn't an exemplary daughter...so I went to my grandma...She bought me this apartment and offered to look after our baby while I'm studying....I don't know how to repay her".

Jin-Goo felt worse about all the misfortune she had to go through, and yet she kept Hwannie.

"I couldn't kill our baby...I love you, so I wanted a piece of my memory of you. I might never have other kids or maybe you...Hwannie was my only chance.She is all I have now...please don't take her from me...I wouldn't be able to fight you for her...I can't afford it" She started to tear up. Jin-Goo felt the effects of all her pain. He will never take his daughter from her mom.

He didn't know what drove him because, in an instant, he pulled her tiny body into his arms, embracing her while she sobbed in his chest. Then, unconsciously snaking her arms around his waist. It was so heavenly to be in his arms again.

"I'm so sorry for causing you all this heartache, and I promise I'll be there for you and our daughter. I'll support you. You'll never have to worry about her needs, ok..." he caressed her back softly. He was again feeling a deep protective pull towards the mother of his child.

She looked up, embarrassed about her open breakdown and the fact that she loved being in his arms.

" I'm sorry for crying on your cashmere top. She wiped her eyes. " Thank you for letting me have her..."

"Why is her surname Bang?"He furrows his brows.

"It's my maternal grandmother's surname. After I was kicked out from my family, my dad told me to chance my surname, and I'm no longer their child... " she looked very heartbroken at the fact that she didn't see her parents for four years. Her brother visits her every month.

Jin-Goo was furious. How dare they do this to his baby's mom? He doesn't know how, but he'll have to make up for his absence.

"We have to discuss Hwannie's future. Tala, let's have supper. I'm starving. Please feed me..." He looks like a little boy.

She smiled a little and then push him gently back to where Hwannie is in deep concentration.

"Go to you daughter..I'll dish up for us...I want to show your something." She grinned. She can't fathom that Jin-Goo is spending time with them.

After she fed Jin-Goo, she took out a big box with all Hwannie albums and ''DVDs. Hwannie was cuddling into his side, fast asleep.

"It's compiled for you," She gestures at the box, taking out some items. Various mini-albums of his daughter

Jin-Goo's eyes widen. She did all that for him.

She shrugged," I wanted to make a copy of everything for you. From my pregnancy to date. I didn't want you to feel left out... this one is her birth...my grandmom was with me-"

Jin-Goo was in awe, watching how his daughter was brought into the world. At a royal hospital. They tracked her royal pregnancy. His eyes were tearing up. He looked at her with an undefine emotion in his eyes. She is truly a remarkable girl...compiling all this for him. Yet, he suddenly felt a strange feeling running through him. What was that?

She almost died in Labour and was passed out for an hour of exhaustion.

After he looked through various albums, it was way after 11 pm.

Jin-Goo looks at her and his baby sleeping soundly in his arms.

"You can lay her in the bed, follow me..." Jin-Goo stood up and took his daughter to her mom's bed. She is sharing with her mom.

Back in the lounge, the room was charged when they looked into the eyes of each other with different emotions, and Jin-goo couldn't understand what was happening to him. He never looked twice at her at school. She wasn't his type. He loved very tall and sexy girls and...and has a girlfriend. He can't be feeling things now ...maybe it's because she is the mother of his child...they connection.

But, now...gosh no, Jin-Goo . he inwardly berates himself as she looked shyly up to him.

"Jin-Goo, please stay the night...it's very late, and I want Hwannie to see you first thing when she wakes up...only if it's ok with you."

He smiles widely and nods cause he can't think about leaving his daughter so soon...
