The group stopped on the side of the road because the RV broke down.

The engine was hissing before Dale spoke up.

"I told you we'd never get far on that hose." Dale sighed as he spoke to Rick. "I said I needed the one from the cube van."

Maia stood in the shade close to T-Dog.

"I see something up ahead." Shane spoke with binoculars to his eyes.

"A gas station if we're lucky." Shane put his binoculars down and Maia walked up next to him and T-Dog.

Jacqui came rushing out the RV and this caught everyone's attention.

"Y'all, Jim...It's bad. I don't think he can take anymore." Jacqui was sweating and panting, she quickly rushed back inside the RV to help Jim.

"Hey, Rick, you want to hold down the fort?" Shane questioned. "I'll drive ahead, see what I can bring back."

"Yeah, I'll come along too and I'll back you up." T-Dog added, putting the binoculars to his eyes.

"Y'all keep your eyes open, we'll be right back." Shane nodded at Maia who stood silently, leaning on the RV.

Not long after Shane and T-Dog drove ahead,

Maia stood next to Dale as he looked inside the engine.

"You think we could try something other than a new hose?" Maia had her arms folded across her chest as she asked Dale.

"We need that hose, we've running on duct tape, and I'm out of duct tape." Dale shrugged and Maia sighed.

"Well you could always try to syphon fuel from other cars, or you could connect the batteries together, try to get it to start itself." Maia suggested and Dale looked at her with a curious look.

"How do you know how to fix an engine?" Dale asks Maia who stood next to him leaning on the side of the RV.

"I worked at a repair store in highschool, bad idea but it got me somewhere." Maia sighed before hearing Rick walking out of the RV.

"It's what he says he wants." Rick says quietly.

"And he's lucid?" Carol asked in slight disbelief.

"He seems to be. I would say yes." Rick wiped his nose and looked at the ground.

"Back in the camp when I said Daryl might be right and you shut me down, you misunderstood." Dale started.

"I would never go along with callously killing a man. I was just gonna suggest that we ask Jim what he wants." Dale sighed.

"And I think we have an answer." He said a matter of factly.

"We just leave him here? We take off?" Shane asked softly. "You said he wants to be left here?" Maia inquired softly.

"Man, I'm not sure I could live with that." Shane shook his head.

"Think about it this way, it isn't your choice. He wants to be left here, he's in pain, he's lucid, and he's gonna die one way or another." Maia explained, shaking her head.

"She's right, it's not your call, either one of you." Lori had her hands on her hips.

Shane and Rick both took Jim into their grasp and laid him up against the bark of the tree.

"Yeah. That's it." Jim let out a groan of pain as the two men sat him down.

Everyone made their way up the hill where Jim was sitting up against the tree.

"Hey, another damn tree." Jim chuckled. "Hey, Jim...I mean, you know it doesn't need to be this." Shane piped up.

Maia stood next to Rosalyn who hesitantly placed her small hand in Maia's, causing Maia to glance at Rosalyn before giving her a pat on the shoulder, still holding her hand.

Beside her stood Anthony who held Luna on his side as they all watched Shane talk to Jim.

"It's good. The breeze feels nice." Jim's voice was weak and dark circles formed under his eyes.

"Okay. All right." Shane stepped back from Jim then Jacqui stepped forward.

"Just close your eyes sweetie, Don't fight." Jacqui had tears in her eyes and watched as he closed his eyes before planting a kiss on his cheek.

Rick took his chance to step forward after Jacqui walked away.

"Do you want this?" Rick took out a gun and showed it to Jim. "No." Jim panted and swallowed thickly.

"You'll need it." His voice was raspy, Rick hesitated before Jim noticed. "I'm okay."

"Oh hey." Jim whispered as Dale walked up to him, kneeling down to his side. "Thanks for, uh...for fighting for us." Dale nodded.

"Okay." Jim nodded at Dale and looked at the ground.

As soon as everyone turned to walk away, Luna tapped Anthony's shoulder. "Can you put me down quick?" Luna whispered to Anthony and Maia turned to the two, Rosalyn still holding her hand.

Anthony puts Luna down not expecting her to do anything.

Luna quickly runs up the hill and gives the man up by the tree a hug.

Maia's gaze softens and she watches the interaction.

Jim was taken aback by the sudden contact, not being hugged by Luna before.

"Goodbye Mr Jim. Moo Moo said that she's sorry." Luna took her cow stuffed animal out from behind her back and showed the man.

He chuckled weakly.

"Goodbye Kid." He smiled weakly and Luna patted his shoulder.

Maia sighed and walked forward.

"I'm sorry." Maia said softly to Jim and he shook his head. "Don't worry about it." He smiled weakly at her and she gave him a tight lipped smile before taking Luna's hand and walking back to the RV.

Everyone else walked back to their cars allowing the engines to start and they all drove away without stopping.

Maia sat in the RV with Luna and Lara by her side, Anthony sitting close to the front where Glenn sat in the passenger seat.

Luna and Lara played pattycake to pass the time whilst Maia sat by the table looking out the window.

"Mai." Anthony's voice echoed from the front of the RV.

"What?" She replied with slight annoyance. "Talk about cranky." He stood up and walked towards Maia. Both Dale and Glenn chuckled at Anthony's response.

"So I was thinking..." Anthony trailed off and Maia rolled her eyes. "What do you want?" Maia knew he wanted something.

"Cut my hair." Anthony got to the point and Maia stared at him with an annoyed look. "Please?" He spoke in a soft tone and small laughs were heard from the front.

"Fine." Maia rolled her eyes. "I don't understand why you can't cut your own hair." Maia sighed and stood up from her seat, Anthony was in her way as he stood in front of her.

"Move." Maia stated as she tried to get up but Anthony was blocking her. He didn't budge.

"Move." Maia deadpanned once more and Anthony just shrugged.

"I said goddamn move." Maia kicked Anthony's leg so he stumbled back and she stood up walking to the front of the RV.

The small muffled giggles from Lara and Luna, causing Maia to smile softly at the girls. Anthony stood in his place dumbfounded at what Maia just did.

"Bitch." Anthony muttered following Maia's every move. "Shut up, there's children." Maia replied before walking up to the front where Dale and Glenn sat.

"Hey, Dale, do you have any scissors anywhere? i'd not it's all good, I'll use my knife." Maia asked Dale, resting her arm at the back of Glenn's seat, her hand almost touching his shoulder.

"I should have a pair in one of the cabinets, you can take a look." He looked at Maia before looking back at the road again.

Maia nodded and her hand moved forward slightly grazing Glenn's shoulder and he slightly tensed at her touch.

She then moved her hand, unaware of the fact she touched Glenn's shoulder and then walked towards the cabinets searching for a pair of scissors.

"You don't mind me cutting hair right? I'll clean it up." Maia asked for reassurance and Dale shook his head.

"It's not a problem." Dale spoke up and Maia nodded in return even though he had his attention on the road.

"Fucking score." Maia spoke in a whisper when she found a pair of kitchen scissors. "Shut up, there's children." Anthony mocked Maia's earlier response.

She rolled her eyes in return.

"You want your haircut or your dick cut, I have control over the scissors." Maia waved the scissors around and the girls giggled softly.

"I'll take the haircut."  Anthony sighed.

"Good." Maia replied and made Anthony sit down. "If the hair falls on your clothes, not my goddamn problem." Maia stood behind Anthony and ruffled his hair before taking a piece in between her index and middle finger.

By the time they arrived at the CDC Anthony's hair was finished and they were ready.

Maia had her bow and arrow out and an arrow already attached to the bow string so she could use it.

The kids stood behind, Glenn, Jacqui, Maia, Anthony and Dale.

Bodies surrounded the CDC, covering most of the streets, a few army tanks were parked on the roads and a few signs read "Road Closed".

Rick held a shotgun in his hand and walked forward.

Everyone followed behind.

The fumes of decomposing bodies fueled in the atmosphere causing everyone to cough at the sudden change in smell.

"All right, everybody. Keep moving. Go on." Shane whispered, Anthony held onto Luna's hand and Maia walked a bit forward with her bow and arrow ready.

Lara stayed close to Glenn who was slightly in front of her and Izraella and Giselle kept Rosalyn close.

"Stay quiet. Let's go." Shane added and he waited for the rest to go ahead.

Files buzzed around the bodies and others held their hands over their noses to refrain from inhaling the revolting scent of decomposing bodies.

"Keep moving. Come on." They started speeding up as the sun started to slowly set.

Maia held her breath in order to not get a sniff of the fumes.

"Keep it together. Come on." Rick tried to reassure the others as they arrived at the front of the CDC.

"We're almost there, baby. Almost there." Lori reassured Carl who breathed heavily.

Everyone was tired out and starting to panic as the sun set slowly.

Rick tried pounding on the door to alert anybody, it was worth a shot.

"There's nobody here." T-Dog states with a pant and Maia groaned. "No shit sherlock."

"Then why are these shutters down?" Rick asked frantically.

"Walkers!" Daryl yelled catching everybody's attention, they started cocking their guns and Maia readied her bow and arrow.

Daryl shot the first walker in the head with his crossbow and a second one came from the other side causing Maia to aim and shoot the walker in the head with her arrow.

"You led us into a graveyard!" Daryl exclaimed. "Shut up!" Maia yelled at Daryl who glared at her in return.

"He made a call." Shane replied.

"The wrong damn call!" Daryl exclaimed and Shane stepped forward. "Shut up. You hear me? Just shut up. Shut up. Shut up!" Shane yelled to Daryl and turned back to Rick.

"Rick, this is a dead end."

"Where are we gonna go?" Carol was scared, it was obvious.

In fact everyone was scared, they were outside with walkers, in the dark and no place to hide. Rick had led them to a dead end.

Luna clinged onto Maia and Lara made her way from next to Rosalyn to Glenn immediately taking him into a hug showing her sense of fear.

"Do you hear me? No blame." Shane pointed at Rick.

"She's right. We can't be here, this close to the city after dark." Lori panted and had her hands on her hips in distress.

"It would've been better if we killed ourselves before this, than walking through here like it's a fashion show." Anthony groans and rubs his hand over his face.

"Fort benning. Rick, it's still an option." Shane put his hands on his hips.

"On what? No food, no fuel. That's 100 miles." Andrea piped up before Glenn spoke.

"125. I checked the map." He added.

"Forget Fort Benning. We need answers tonight, now." Lori deadpanned and the kids cried, getting more scared by the second.

"Lori is right, we can't stay out here. There's no way we're staying out here and getting away alive." Maia added and the kids started crying even more now at Maia's response.

Rosalyn hugged her mother as she cried, her sister holding her hand. 

"We'll think of something." Rick sounded distressed.

"Come on, let's go." T-Dog instructed.

"Let's get out of here."

"Let's go please."

As everyone was ready to head back to the cars Rick's voice alerted them and they stopped.

"The camera. It moved!" He exclaimed and everyone looked back.

"You're seeing shit, Rick!" Maia yelled to the man as she held Luna's hand and her bow in the other.

"You imagined it."

"It moved." Rick stared back up at the camera and moved forward.

Shane was trying to convince Rick that the camera hadn't moved, that he had only imagined it.

"It's dead. You need to let it go, Rick." Shane took Rick by his collar.

Rick moved away from Shane and pounded on the CDC door.

"Rick there's nobody here!" Lori yelled.

"I know you're in there." Rick deadpanned looking up at the camera.

Maia gave Anthony a look saying "this dude is crazy."

"I know you can hear me!" Rick exclaimed.

The commotion got worse and the more the group panicked the more desperate Rick's voice grew. Lori tried to tell him that there was no one there but it was no use.

By the time Rick was yelling.

"You're killing us!" Over and over again, he yelled and Shane pulled him away from the doors, they all turned around the leave.

The shutters opened, revealing a blinding light.

The sounds of gas hissing from inside.

There was someone in there, alive, working.

They could finally get shelter, safety.

I am one episode away from season two!!
i'm so excited but so scared at the same time, also this is a relatively short chapter because I basically stopped close to the end of the episode i was on in the last chapter.
