Saying it like that did make it feel weirder, now that she thought about it. News spread quite fast here, so everyone was now gathered in one of the huts.

She leaned in closer to get a better look at the newcomer, he looked barely 13 maybe 12 but then again, he was stuck in an iceberg which looked quite old, so she wasn't really sure how to go around this. She looked back at Katara who shrugged.Β

Sokka was already examining the poor kid's entire demeanour. 'Only-man-in-charge-things'. Of course, everyone else was curious about the kid, he wore strange clothes that seem to be some sort of monk clothing.Β

Β  Β "He looks dead."

Β  Β "What's that mark on his head?"

Most of the people were quite curious, maybe amused, they crowded around the younger guy who lay still. Kya couldn't really tell but at least they weren't furious or mad, well excluding Sokka. He was always mad.

But on the other hand, this was kind of exciting, the only exciting things that happen in the south were. . . well nothing really.

Β  Β "Let me take a look." said Gran Gran. She walked into the hut, and everyone moved over a little for her to take a look. She looked at him and lifted the covers to take a look at his clothes, but when she touched his hand and saw the arrow tattooed on it, and suddenly gasped. "It can't be."

Β  Β "What is it, Gran Gran?" asked Katara, looking up.Β

Β  Β "This is an Airbender." replied Gran Gran. With a stunned smile on her face, she raised her head once again to take in everyone inside the hut. There was silence for a few seconds, then everyone started gasping.

That was the cherry on the cake for Kya who by now was not really surprised at the revelation, it was quite obvious he wasn't from any Water Tribe nor was he from the Earth Kingdom, and he certainly wasn't from the Fire Nation. But she still couldn't wrap her mind around, how, why, when, who and what happened to him.Β

Β  Β "I'm not surprised anymore." mumbled Kya. She moved aside as Sokka spoke up.

Β  Β "It's impossible. Airbenders don't exist anymore." said Sokka as he walked up towards Gran Gran.

Β  Β "Well, we won't get any answers until he wakes up." said Katara, she looked at everyone and gestured for the exit. "We need to let him rest. Come on."

And so, everyone went out, letting the kid rest up. Kya and Katara decided to go help make lunch with some of the other women of the tribe. Whilst walking, Kya couldn't help but bring up the situation at hand.Β

Β  Β  "Well, I certainly didn't think we were gonna meet the last airbender in the world on a random Tuesday." said Kya.

Β  Β "Kya. It's not Tuesβ€”." Katara turned to look at her weirdly, "Never mind. You know, I think he's going to help us Kya. I swear he is different."

Β  Β "Well, he is an airbender." said Kya.

Β  Β "No, not like that. I meant; he could bring hope to the tribe. No one has heard of or seen an airbender in 100 years. And now. . ."

Β  Β "A bald airbending kid showed up in an iceberg." questioned Kya with a raised brow. "Honestly, I have no reason to doubt him," Kya insisted, her tone earnest.

Katara chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief. "Well, I'm glad we are on the same page."

Β  Β "I'm not the one you need to convince Katara," said Kya. "You know how Sokka feels about this."

Katara grinned, her eyes sparkling with optimism. "I think when he wakes up, he'll convince Sokka himself."

Β  Β "Right. . . That's if he even will be willing to talk. Maybe deep inside he's some evil bald villain who will destroy our entire tribe. . . You never knowww." whispered yelled Kya. She flayed her arms around at the end of her sentence.Β

Β  Β "I think you're weird." said Katara giggling at her.Β

Β  Β "And I think you're boring." replied Kya, rolling her eyes sarcastically at the girl. The two laughed off, their thoughts flying away.Β

𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 π€π–π€πŠπ„, 𝐓𝐇𝐄 πŠπˆπƒ 𝐖𝐀𝐒 π€π–π€πŠπ„ 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐇𝐄 already made Sokka mad. Well, that wasn't very hard to do but still. He had just woken up and had walked outside, only to find a group of children playing in the snow. You could say, curiosity got the better of him or you could say he just wanted to play as well.Β

But either way, he had walked up to the group and unfortunately whilst trying to get closer, he had gotten hit by a snowball. Quite hard. On the face. Ow. The kids giggled not noticing the new arrival.Β

Sokka noticed though, he noticed how none of them were worried by the stranger. No one was doing anything, they just played along with him.Β

So, he walked up to them and yelled out, from around a corner carrying a spear as he runs up to them, "Hey, get away from him! What are you thinking? Have you forgotten your training?"

He continued whilst flailing his arms, "What'd I say about keeping your guard up? He could be the enemy."

The stranger looked confused and looked around tilting his head, "The enemy? I'm not the enemy."

Sokka's eyes widened in disbelief as he took in the kid's response. He blinked several times, as if expecting the answer to suddenly make sense, he looked around trying to find at least one of the girls. "Then who are you?"

Β  Β "I'm Aang." The stranger, well Aang, said in a very upbeat and happy tone. He smiled at Sokka who huffed, then he furrowed his eyebrows, "Where am I? How'd I get here?" Kya who was walking by and saw the two speaking, walked over to see what was happening.

Β  Β "You tell me. How did you get in the ice?" He said in a very snappy voice.Β

So, his name was Aang, thought Kya. She walked over and waved at the little guy, who smiled brightly and waved back. That made Sokka turn around and looked at Kya, he didn't say anything and turned back around.Β

Β  Β "Calm down with the questions, Sokka." said Kya chuckling at him.Β

Β  Β "Kya―." started Sokka until he was interrupted by Aang who spoke.Β

Β  Β "Wait. Appa? Appa!" yelled out Aang. He seemed to be calling out to something, whatever it was the others didn't know.Β

Kya furrowed her brows and leaned closer to Sokka and whispered. "What is he. . . what is he doing?"

Sokka side eyed her and shrugged still staring at Aang. He lowered his spear, realising they posed no threat to the tribe, he remained there dumbfounded and oblivious to what was happening.

Β  Β "Where's Appa?" he yelled out. He looked at Kya who only shrugged at him.Β

Β  Β "Sokka!" shouted a familiar voice. "Have you seen him?"

Hearing the shouting and the voices, Katara had walked around the hut and came closer towards the group until she was next to them, while Gran Gran was trailing closely after her. The trio were now staring at a flying Aang, yes, he was flying.

Β  Β "Yeah." replied Sokka looking up at him. "That's not strange at all."

Kya was not sure how to react, she looked back at Katara who looked amazed and back up to the flying boy, she felt weird and kinda curious at the same time. He was an airbender, a real one.

Β  Β "Appa!" he yelled out.Β

Katara said, "He is an Airbender." That fact was real, and everyone watched on as he flew in the air in search of 'Appa'. Said airbender then took out a whistle of some sort and blew so hard that Kya thought her ears would fall off.Β

Aang landed back onto the ground and ran towards the group who were still shocked. He panted and asked, "Have you seen Appa? My sky bison."

Sky bison? What in the world was a sky bison? thought Kya. She shook her head sadly and smiled at Aang. The boy didn't give up though, he kept on trying and trying.Β

Β  Β "Six legs, horns, brown arrows? Sky bison. Sky bison!" said Aang, he elongated the last sentence trying to make them understand, but Sokka quickly let that fall.Β

Β  Β "Right and this is Katara my flying sister." said Sokka in a sarcastic voice. Kya elbowed him in the stomach as Aang looked down sadly and sighed. Sokka grunted, "What? Repeating it doesn't help."

Well, that was until they all heard an animal bellow loudly in the air, most importantly it was huge and. . . fluffy, very fluffy. And low and behold, it was a sky bison. "What the―."grumbled Kya.Β

That must have been Appa, because the moment the fluffy giant landed onto the snow, Aang ran at full speed towards it and screamed, "Appa!"

The sky bison grunted softly as Aang hugged its snout, the animal looked like it really did care for Aang. Kya smiled softly and giggled as Aang turned around and pointed at him, "Sky bison."

Sokka slowly and surely backed away, he grabbed Kya's arm as she was the closest to him, and gently pulled her with him though she did stay put, admiring the beautiful beast in front of her.

πˆπ“ π–πŽπ”π‹πƒ 𝐁𝐄 π‚π‘π€π™π˜ π“πŽ π“π‡πˆππŠ 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 things would get even more confusing from then on, but what could she say? It did get confusing. They had all gone into the hut to discuss things more clearly with Aang, though Kya had run up to him and started questioning him about Appa, who actually seemed to like her since he let her pet him.Β

Though she did get screamed at by Sokka, but who listens to him anyways, not Kya that's for sure. She had stayed out until he had dragged her into the hut.Β Even then, her stubbornness refused to waver. Arms crossed and a defiant glint in her eyes, she huffed at him.Β

Sokka was now interrogating the poor kid while Kya was pouting behind him wanting to go back outside and pet Appa. He asked, "You say you went down in the storm?"

Aang sighed sadly and started talking, "It came upon us suddenly. The weather went crazy just after I left home."

He looked up and gestured with his hands, "The Southern Air Temple. Where the Air Nomads live."

Kya was confused. She turned to look at Katara and Sokka but the two were already looking at her, also confused. The Air Nomads were all gone, every last one of them had been killed. The world had been stripped of the airbenders but how would he have lived with them? They had died 100 years ago.

Β  Β "Well, not all the Air Nomads, but most of them had just arrived for the Great Comet Festival." He continued lifting his arms up and smiled.Β

Β Gran Gran stood up slowly, repeating his words, "The Great Comet Festival."

Β  Β "Gran Gran?" asked Katara turning to look at her grandmother.Β

Gran Gran's eyes had widened, and she stood straighter while she walked up to the old tapestry that hung on the wall. Kya looked up towards her, she furrowed her eyebrows and kept quiet.Β

Β  Β "Water, earth, fire, air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. And so the Fire Nation marched and laid waste, plunging us into a time of darkness. Everyone in the village knows this story, but you don't, do you, young man?"

She continued, "Just as you don't know that Airbenders haven't been seen in generations and that the Southern Air Temple was the first to fall, because you've been trapped in that ice this whole time. The last time that the Great Comet was seen in the sky was 100 years ago."

Aang stood up abruptly and stared at everyone before rushing out of the hut. Kya moved to go after him, but Sokka gripped her arm and stopped her from going.Β

Kya didn't want to believe it, but it was true. Gran Gran continued, "He may seem like just a boy, but he's much more."

Β  Β "He is the last Airbender."
