Lillian drove herself and Barry to Jitters for some coffee, however, the two acquaintances stopped walking when Barry caught Iris cupping Eddie Thawne's face, leaning in to kiss him. "I'm guessing by the reaction, you didn't know about that?" Lillian asked Barry who shook his head making Lillian sigh, "You haven't been awake long, I'm sure it just hadn't come up yet." Iris looked over and spotted Barry, her smile fell slightly before returning when Lillian waved happily at the woman. "I'll grab us something, what do you want?" Lillian asked Barry knowing he needed to talk to Iris, so getting his order, she excused herself.

"You can't tell my dad. He doesn't know about me and Eddie," Iris told Barry as she, Lillian and Barry walk down the street together. Lillian felt like she was intruding but both Iris and Barry had already assured her that her presence was welcome. "Doesn't seem like anyone's in on the secret," Barry replied to her. "I was gonna tell you," Iris assured him, Lillian smiled knowing she was right about what she said. "When you were in the hospital, Eddie covered my father's shifts so that we could both be with you. I thanked him with a cup of coffee and things just kind of happened," Iris explained to him, Lillian smiled fondly at that.

"And its good," Iris added seeing the uncertainty on Barry face. "Dating your partners daughter... isn't that against department regulations?" Barry asked her making Lillian shake her head and look away. "Why are you so upset?" Iris asked in an accusatory tone. "I just don't like having to lie to your dad, you know?" Barry replied to her with a frown. "I know..." Iris breathed out as Lillian heard tires screeching, she turned her head to see a car flying down the road with police cars following. Barry quickly tackled Iris and Lillian away from the gutter and behind a large pot plant, out of danger of a police car.

"Barry?" Iris spoke as she looked around for him, her eyes landing on Lillian who groaned as she sat up. "Oh, Lillian, are you okay?" Iris asked her. "Yeah, wasn't expecting that," Lillian replied before letting Iris help her up off of the ground. The two looked over towards where Barry had disappeared, "Let's find him before he causes some trouble." Iris laughed at Lillian's comment, "Look at that, you already fit in." The two woman laughed before spotting Joe who noticed both women instantly. "How much trouble are we gonna be in?" Lillian asked Iris. "So much trouble," Iris replied.

"That poor man," Iris spoke as she and Lillian watched a stretcher go by, the strawberry blonde woman swallowed slowly at the black bag. "The way that fog came in, I have never seen anything like it," Iris said as she looked at Lillian, the woman had lowered her head in thought; she knew she'd have to tell Barry the truth now. "Barry!" Joe called out, "Iris. Lillian." Iris turned to the man, "I'm alright, Dad." Lillian sent him a smile when he look at her, "I'm just fine, Detective West." Joe sighed, "We've talked about this, Joe is fine." Lillian nodded her head while Joe turned to Barry, "What the hell were you thinking having them out here?"

"No, no, no--" Iris was cut off by Joe, "And I told you, when you see danger, you run the other way. You're not a cop." Iris scowled at his words, "Because you wouldn't let me." Joe nodded in his sternly, "You're damn right." Barry interrupted them, "Joe, I need to talk to you." Joe looked at him, "It can wait." Barry shook his head, "No, now. I know who did this." Joe looked back at him so Barry continued, "Clyde Mardon." Lillian swallowed at that, she slightly stepped back hoping to go unnoticed but unfortunately for her, Barry had noticed. "I know everybody thinks he died in a plane crash after the S.T.A.R Labs explosion, but he is alive," Barry continued deciding he'd confront Lillian later.

"All right, something happened to him. I-I think he can control the weather," Barry kept going and while Joe's expression was clearly showing he was already done with Barry's words, Lillian knew differently and she had to get to S.T.A.R Labs to talk to Harrison quickly. "The recent robberies, they all happened during freak meteorological events. And when I just confronted Mardon, the street was instantly enveloped in fog," Barry finished off before saying, "Of course you don't believe me. You never believe me." Joe sighed, "Okay. You want to do this now? Out here? Fine."

Iris and Lillian shared a worried look, it was clear that Joe was fed up while Barry was certain and Lillian wished more than anything that she could help Barry but her promise to Harrison overthrew her new developing friendship. "Mardon is dead. There is no controlling the weather, Barry. Just like there was no lightning storm in your house that night. It was your brain helping a scared little boy accept what he saw," Joe snapped out at Barry. "My dad did not murder my mother," Barry growled back. "Yes, he did! Your dad killed your mother, Barry! I am sorry, son! But I knew it, the jury knew it, and now he's paying for what he did," Joe shouted at Barry whose eyes were misty.

"Dad, enough!" Iris snapped, Lillian shrunk under the yelling which was something she had never really been good at. "Uuh-uh, Iris," Joe shushed her before looking back at Barry, "I have done my best to take care of you since that night, and I have never asked for anything in return, not even a thank you, but what I do ask now is that you for once in your life see things as they are," Joe told Barry sternly, he was silent as he looked at Joe before he scoffed and walked away. Lillian looked at Iris and before she could follow Barry, Eddie walked up to them. "You're not going to believe this," Eddie spoke up, "We got the eyewitness sketch of the robber from the bank job."

He held out the sketch to Joe allowing Lillian to see it too as Eddie spoke, "If I didn't know better, I'd say that's Clyde Mardon. But that's impossible. He's dead, right?" Lillian looked up at Joe before she jogged to catch up to Barry. "Barry?" Lillian muttered. "Drive me to S.T.A.R Labs," Barry replied blankly, she swallowed slowly and nodded as they walked towards Jitters where her car was parked. Lillian didn't know what to say to Barry as they drove to S.T.A.R Labs, she could tell he was processing what he learned and trying to ignore the emotions that came with Joe's confrontation so she stayed quiet.

"I wasn't the only one affected by the Particle Accelerator explosion, was I?" Barry asked as he walked into the Cortex with Lillian trailing behind him. "We don't know for sure," Harrison replied to him. "You said the city was safe, that there was no residual danger. But that's not true, so what really happened that night?" Barry asked as Lillian moved to stand with Cisco, he took her hand in his own as she looked down in sorrow. "Well... the Accelerator went active. We all felt like heroes, and then... it all went wrong. The dimensional barrier ruptured, unleashing unknown energies into our world. Antimatter, dark energy, x-elements..." Harrison expressed to Barry.

"Those are all theoretical," Barry replied to him. "And how theoretical are you?" Harrison asked him. "We mapped the dispersion throughout and around Central City. Though we have no way of knowing exactly what or... who was exposed, we've been searching for other Metahumans like yourself," Harrison told him as he and Lillian looked towards the screens. "Metahumans?" Barry questioned. "That's what we're calling them," Lillian told him softly. "I saw one today. He's a bank robber, and he can control the weather," Barry told them. "This just keeps getting cooler," Cisco exclaimed.

"This is not cool. All right? A man died," Barry snapped at Cisco whose smile dropped, Lillian rested her hand on his shoulder. "Mardon nust have gotten his powers the same way I did. From the storm cloud. He's still out there. We have to stop him before he hurts anyone else," Barry told them all. "Barry!" Harrison called out, "That's a job for the police." Barry turned to him, "I work for the police." Harrison sighed, "As a forensic assistant." Barry furrowed his brows, "You're responsible for this. For him." Lillian, Cisco and Caitlin lowered their heads at Barry's words.

"What's important is you! Not me. I lost everything. I lost my company. I lost my reputation. I lost my freedom. And then you broke your arm, and it healed in three hours," Harrison expressed while Lillian turned away from him as he continued, "Inside your body could be a map to a whole new world... Genetic therapies, vaccines, medicines, treasures buried deep within your cells, and we cannot risk losing everything because you want to go and play hero!" Harrison sighed, "You're not a hero. You are just a young man who was struck by lightning." Barry turned to look at the others noticing that Lillian had walked out.

Deciding he needed help, Barry sped to Starling City where he stood on top of a building talking to an old friend, telling him his full story. "So that's my story. I've spent my whole life searching for the impossible, never imagining that I would become the impossible," Barry explained. "So why come to me?" Arrow asked him, "Something tells me you didn't just run six hundred miles to say hi to a friend." Barry looked around for a moment before replying, "All my life, I've wanted to just do more... Be more. And now I am. And the first chance I get to help someone, I screw up. What if Wells is right? What if I'm not a hero? What if I'm just some guy who was struck by lightning?"

"I don't think that bolt of lightning struck you, Barry. I think it chose you," Arrow replied to him with certainty in his tone. "I'm just not sure I'm like you, Oliver. I don't know if I can be some... vigilante," Barry told him. "You can be better. Because you can inspire people in a way that I never could... watching over your city like a guardian angel... making a difference, saving people... in a Flash," Arrow expressed to him honestly, "Take your own advice. Wear a mask." Arrow fired a shot towards another building pulling him off of the one he was on. "Cool," Barry muttered before speeding off. "Cool," Arrow muttered watching as Barry sped off into the distance.

"I've been going over unsolved cases from the past nine months, and there's been a sharp increase in unexplained deaths and missing people," Barry told Cisco, Caitlin and Lillian as they stood in the Cortex, "Your metahumans have been busy." The trio shared guilty looks which Barry caught prompting him to speak up, "Now, I'm not blaming you. I know you didn't mean for any of this to happen. I know you all lost something. But I need your help to catch Mardon and anyone else out there like him. But I can't do it without you." The trio of scientists shared a look before Caitlin and Cisco looked directly at Lillian, the woman was still before nodding.

"If we're gonna do this, I have something that might help," Cisco told him before leading the way towards a red polymer suit that sat in a glass case, "Something I've been playing with. Designed to replace the turnouts firefighters traditionally wear. I thought if S.T.A.R Labs could do something nice for the community, maybe people wouldn't be so angry at Dr Wells or Lillian anymore." Lillian sent him a smile before focusing on the tablet in her hand, she was double checking her project to make sure it would work. "How is it going to help me?" Barry asked him.

"It's made of a reinforced tri-polymer. It's heat and abrasive resistant, so it should withstand your moving at high-velocity speeds. And the aerodynamic design should help you maintain control," Cisco explained to him in response to his question, "Plus, it has built-in sensors so we can track your vitals and stay in contact with you from here." Barry nodded his head, "Thanks. Now how do we find Mardon?" Caitlin spoke up this time, "I retasked S.T.A.R Labs satellite to track meteorological abnormalities over Central City. We just got a ping. Atmospheric pressure dropped twenty millibars in a matter of seconds. I've tracked it to a farm just west of the city."

──────────❝ 🌩 ❞──────────

In his new suit, Barry sped his way to the farm where Clyde Mardon had created a tornado that was heading toward the city. He managed to save Joe from being hit with a piece of the barn roof. "Wind speeds are two hundred miles-per-hour and increasing," Cisco warned. "Barry, can you hear me?" Cisco asked the Metahuman. "Yeah. Loud and clear," Barry replied to him. "If it keeps up, this could become an F-5 tornado," Lillian told them. "But it's heading towards the city," Barry told them, "How do I stop it? Guys?" The trio were silent until Lillian leaned down to the mic, "You can unravel it, Barry." Cisco looked at her, "How the hell is he going to do that?"

"If you run in the opposite direction, you can unravel it and throw it back at Clyde," Lillian told him, determination burning in her eyes. "He'd have to clock seven hundred miles-per-hour to do that," Cisco pointed out before Caitlin said, "Your body may not be able to handle those speeds." Lillian shook her head, "You can do this, Barry. I know you can." Barry took in her words before moving to make it happen, running in the opposite direction of the tornado only to get thrown to the side. "It's too strong," Barry told them. "You can do this, Barry. You were right," Harrison spoke through the mic after Lillian moved to the side.

"I am responsible for all of this. So many people have been hurt because of me, and when I looked at you, all I saw was another potential victim of my hubris," Harrison expressed openly, "And yes, I created this madness, but you, Barry, you can stop it. You can do this. Now run, Barry, run!" Barry nodded to himself before rushing back into the tornado, he managed to pick up his speed until finally the tornado unravelled and Clyde Mardon was left standing there. "Barry?" Lillian muttered into the microphone. "Hey, I didn't think there was anyone else like me," Clyde said to him as he pointed his gun at Barry.

"I'm not like you. You're a murderer," Barry told Clyde who smirked before two gunshots rang through the air, Clyde dropped to the ground. Barry turned to see Joe standing with his gun raised, the two shared a look before Barry approached him. "Barry?" Lillian pushed further as they had heard the gunshots. "It's over. I'm okay," Barry reassured her. Lillian and Harrison shared a smile before she stood up and walked over to the tablet she had been working on, she smiled to herself content with the finished project. Joe and Barry ─ after Barry changed out of his suit ─ stood together by Joe's car.

"What you can do... it was the lightning bolt?" Joe asked Barry. "More or less," Barry answered him. "I'm sorry, Barry. I'm sorry I didn't believe you. And I called you crazy for chasing the impossible. But you really did see something that night your mom died. And your dad is innocent," Joe told Barry who smiled slightly, he was glad that Joe knew the truth too. "I need you to promise me something. I don't want you telling Iris about anything you can do, any of it. I want her safe. Promise me," Joe told Barry. "Yeah," Barry assured him. Barry went to visit his father in prison, the older man smiled seeing him walk in.

"Hey, Slugger," Henry greeted. "You've been calling me that since I was eleven," Barry replied as the two chuckled. "Funny thing is, I finally got into a fight today," Barry told Henry who sat up more. "You just got out of a coma. I'm not sure you should be picking fights," Henry scolded bringing a frown to Barry's face before he continued, "Hey... did you win?" Barry chuckled, "Yeah, I did." Henry sent him a proud smile before Barry sighed, "You didn't kill mom. You know I know that, right?" Henry smiled, "You believing me is all I need." Barry nodded, "You're not gonna be in here much longer. Whoever killed mom... whatever killed her... I think I finally have a way to find them. To stop them."

"Barry, we've talked about this. It's time to let it go. You have got to stop worrying about me, and live your life," Henry told his son with a softened expression. "For the first time, I feel like I finally can. The truth is, ever since the night mom died, I've been stuck in one place, missed out on a lot of things. But I'm different now. I've made some new friends. Met a girl... they're helping me find my way... To move forward." Barry expressed to his father who perked up at the mention of the girl being in his sons interest.

"And who might this woman be?" Henry asked intrigued. "Lillian Dorcas," Barry answered him with a starstruck smile. "That's my boy. A great choice," Henry teased him. "You remember when you wanted me to change my name so I wouldn't have to deal with people knowing you're my dad? I'm glad they know. I'm so proud to be your son," Barry told his father. "I love you, son," Henry replied to his boy. "I love you too, Dad," Barry told him. "Now tell me more about this girl," Henry asked with a teasing smirk on his face.

Rosemary Speaks. . .

A longer chapter for the final part of episode one. And honestly, I'm pretty happy with it.

Should I just write scenes that involve Lillian or do you like seeing other parts where she's only mentioned like the scene between Barry and his dad?

Thoughts, Suggestions or Questions?

See you in the next chapter!
